That is indeed just you. Social conditioning rather than inherent human drives. We’ve been able to prevent pregnancy for a very long time and it doesn’t seem to be affecting humanity’s desire to have sex, except when we use hormonal means to do it
/r/PurplePillDebate27/01/22 07:00 PM

the drive to mate and drive to reproduce is the same drive. If u made everyone infertile , they sex drive would diminished on current conscious level and eventually be selected out human behavior What makes you say that? Having a vasectomy or using non hormonal birth control doesn’t diminish your sex drive
/r/PurplePillDebate27/01/22 06:48 PM

But the drive is still there. There is no innate “drive” to have children. Instinct doesn’t work on such a high level. There is a drive to mate, and for most species and most of human history, this inevitably led to children. The evolutionary benefit is in wanting to have sex, not wanting to have children. Modern humanity has found many ways to circumvent evolutionary selection, from medicine to birth control. It’s difficult to talk about “evolutionary benefit” when it comes to humanity

One reason I avoid marriage is the fear that one day when we’re older and she’s lying in bed with me I will look at her sleeping and be disgusted by the presence of her...the utter humanity of her. Generally the opposite happens: Being attracted to the utter humanity of the other person I may just be an outlier. More likely just inexperienced

This I feel is strange. What if he likes Erotica (Which is conciderded an art form) with big booty Judy getting caned? He might not be into it into it, but wouldn't that be strange though? Enjoying erotic art (I don’t think big booty Judy getting caned would normally be considered “erotic” or “art”) is generally quite attractive to women, as it shows an understanding of eroticism. I’ve taken a date to a Helmut Newton exhibition and it ended well, and when dating my now wife we spent a lot of tim…

I’m not giving any advice other than to ignore simplistic answers or answers that require you to check your personal integrity and humanity at the door LARPing being the type of man that can sleep with lots of women purely because you want to think of yourself as the type of man who can sleep with lots of women is a fool’s errand. I’ve not read anything from anyone who follows red pill ideas that suggests they actually like women, just that they want to be someone who sleeps with lots of them

Re evaluating their own ideas of masculinity? What does that specifically mean? Exactly as described. If you can’t figure out what that actually means, that’s the problem Empathy for women who has done nothing for demean and ignore them? Why care about people who have treated you like shit because they have a vagina? Who says they “treated you like shit”? Ignoring you isn’t treating you like shit. Presumably you ignore people as well. And it’s not a case of caring about them because they have a …

A man who pays generally expects something for what he’s paying for. The reason why you’re finding it hard to find younger men who won’t pay for everything for you is because it’s an outdated concept from a time when women had no means to pay for anything

Hard disagree, they would never have gone into humans if animal testing wasn't cleared. It’s less that, it’s more that there was money committed and spent for multiple stages at once. The UK were funding facilities to produce the Oxford vaccine in March 2020, before it had even started phase 1 trials. The US started Operation Warp Speed in May 2020. Normally Phase 3 follows phase 2 because it’s far more expensive to do. But because money was no object they were done together, rather than wait fo…

Also how much money is involved between steps. Usually at each step of the way, results are analysed before any more money is spent so it’s not wasted on vaccine candidates that don’t work. This takes time When you have a worldwide pandemic that is crippling world economies, money is no object in getting a vaccine out there. Phase 2 and 3 trials were funded before phase 1 was finished

Best advice for men right here. Terrible advice from people who have never actually been in a relationship. Nobody will “100% lust for your dick with every molecule of her being” after a few years of being together. Even if you’re the most attractive man on the planet. You’re setting unrealistic expectations of what being with someone is actually like

It’s pretty presumptuous and telling you assumed by “competency” I meant the bolded. I didn't, I used them as examples. It’s the same reason guys here get completely bent out of shape when women say they won’t sleep with guys they consider bf material right away - “but you’re rewarding the wrong guys!” Conversely, the guys are all sleeping with the women who'll leave them as soon as someone richer and more successful comes along. Also you seem to be implying that if a happy child free couple were to have an accidental pregnancy they would get an abortion which is...a pretty rough take Generally they will, though. Child free implies the couple do not want children. If a couple who do not want children accidentally have a pregnancy, they’ll likely have an abortion unless they have a strong moral aversion to doing so. Feeding birds alone at 70, enjoying the present moment with a mind full of memories of a life well lived sounds fine to me Also, if you give partying and having children the same weight, it explains a lot. Yes, I’m saying they’re equally as objectively pointless but subjectively meaningful Ultimately you and your children will be dead and forgotten in 100 years. All of it for naught. So make your own choices and life, but it’s equally as pointless as anyone else’s
/r/PurplePillDebate25/04/21 12:09 PM

It's not even true in general terms. It's not normal to willfully decide to not have kids. It's engrained into most people to desire children. Ingrained doesn’t necessarily mean correct. They offer meaning, security, and a legacy. They offer an illusion of meaning. Security is offered by the state. Legacy is pointless, again, another illusion of meaning

Many years back I had neighbors, they were in their late 20s, both working in a retail store, living with a large dog in a small flat, going twice a year on expensive vacation and not wanting to have children. That was it, there was no direction in their life. If they’re happy, what’s the problem? The universe isn’t a better (or worse) place with one more ant in it. Why do you presume adding another human is inherently better than not?
/r/PurplePillDebate25/04/21 11:40 AM

I think it’s more that having children is no less pointless than not having children. Everyone’s life and choices are pointless. Creating another person in a world of 7 billion of them is no more meaningful an act than partying every day until your 50s and travelling the world
/r/PurplePillDebate25/04/21 11:33 AM

The whole point of love and attraction is to make you want to have kids together. It's built-in to make us breed so our species survives. That’s not really how evolution works. There’s no innate desire for a species to survive, just a feedback loop where traits that are conducive for reproduction will automatically mean that reproduction happens more and those traits become dominant. The trait for all animals for the species to survive is a desire to mate, not have children. Because if a species…

Why do you assume not wanting children = broken? that can at best achieve a simulacrum of happiness through transient material pleasures. All pleasures are transient. Recognising that is healthier than thinking you can prolong your 80 years alive by having children. When I’m dead I won’t care about at children I might have. And the world doesn’t need more people in it

Child free couples can have more time for community minded things, however. Children turn your world inwards towards the home and own family, not outwards towards the community. You appear to be using “community” as a proxy for race/ethnicity, however. Not sure why it matters if those around you don’t look like you

The way you recognize a need as a need is that you don't get to be independent when it comes to a need. You are dependent on said need. You are not free to live without it. What kind of need are those women talking about when they say they don't need a man and in which way do they actually need one? Generally financial And if they actually need a man in any way how is it that needing someone other than themselves doesn't limit their independence? Because they’re free to leave if they wish without destituting themselves. Choosing someone because they desire them and enjoy being around them, not because they can provide for them

but most DINKs are just basic as fuck. As are most people who have children. You act as if people are sacrificing an enormous amount by not having children. But if you don’t want children, it’s no sacrifice at all. I don’t want to be a doctor either. It’s not a sacrifice in my life not being a doctor. I don’t not want children because I want to do other things. I don’t want children, and that means I can do other things. The not wanting children is the primary (lack of) drive

No one is owed or deserving of anything, we're lucky to live in a society where you even get a basic level of respect and courtesy from most people as a default. But we are not owed this, it appears that it's something you may just take for granted. No, it’s just a case of recognising others are people like you. It is true that nobody is owed or deserves anything, but recognising that you are not the totality of society means that you’re contributing to making that society better. Be a part of t…

Lying is a conscious choice, but again, why does that imply not loving someone? People are fallible, make mistakes and try to hide those mistakes I’m not defending people who cheat, it’s a shitty thing to do. But it generally has little to do with how much or little they love their partner

I don’t view cheating in this way. It’s entirely possible to cheat on someone you love in the same way it’s entirely possible to break any promise you make with someone you love. It’s not downgrading her say, because an individual’s behaviour can’t be controlled by the other’s say so. All you can do is agree to certain conditions and trust that the other won’t break those conditions. It’s not right, but doesn’t necessarily say anything about your love for someone. Poor impulse control doesn’t im…

Social conditioning means that a lot of men are often quite emotionally stunted, and are only able to express emotions as anger or resentment. Which is incredibly unattractive.

My point was that older women (i.e. women from earlier generations) were more suitable in this regard, because culturally, they would've been taught to be better wives, or at the very least, would've had better examples of stable relationships than women do now (and would've had more caring, empathetic, and nurturing role models as well). Most of the shit younger women cause men now, would never have been been an issue because the older women had the common sense not to cause the problems in the…

Yep, the old “women lie about their intentions or don’t know their own mind” You’re making assumptions about why women are behaving the way they are based on your own notions of masculinity. Those assumptions may not be correct You’re policing other’s behaviour by ding a part of a group telling all men that if they show vulnerability, no woman will want to fuck them. Have you any idea how much that’s fucking men’s lives up? Don’t be part of the problem
/r/PurplePillDebate10/02/21 10:42 AM

Except all of the women in this thread are saying it’s absolutely fine to show vulnerability. In fact, it is only men who are saying you shouldn’t, and using the bullshit excuse that all women lie about what they want. Why do some men feel they need to police other’s behaviour?
/r/PurplePillDebate10/02/21 09:50 AM

Red pill wisdom takes this as gospel without any real evidence except a few personal anecdotes For what is supposed to be a movement for men, you’re actively harming the mental health of men by spreading this bullshit

Are you currently in a relationship? Have you been in a long term relationship? When I was younger I thought it was supposed to be exactly like this, two people sharing their deepest self and exposing their vulnerabilities. As I look back on my failed marriage and other LTRs, the point where it all went wrong was when I let my guard down and showed my vulnerability. That’s exactly when she would ignore me sexually for days, build up resentment and nag about trivial things. You can never let your…

There are always exceptions but as far as I understand it (and in my experience), the majority of women enjoy being submissive in bed (to varying degrees) and that's not the case for men. In my experience, the majority of women enjoy a balance in the bedroom. Lots of younger women are submissive in bed because porn suggests that women should be submissive and men should be dominant. And it is deeply related to the fact that girls are attracted to strength in men. Possibly. Or possibly because we…

It doesn’t necessarily mean anything. A fantasy or way of being during sex is yours to enjoy, not worry about what it says about you as a person If he’s dominant in real life, he probably wouldn’t need to argue that being dominant in bed doesn’t men he’s submissive in real life. Being dominant in real life would suggest he’s confident enough not to worry about it
/r/PurplePillDebate09/02/21 05:53 PM
2

Why is this solely about women? As described plenty of men who are completely dominant in their public life fetishise being dominated. It’s not always the case, but the bedroom is often where you can feel free to be something that you can’t in your outside life. For some women, a fantasy is a place where they can give responsibility to someone else, because society has taught her that only sluts like sex. For some men a fantasy is a place where they don’t have to take charge and be assertive, be…

Human sexuality is a many faceted thing, and fantasies are a safe way to play with ideas that we wouldn’t want to happen in the real, unsafe world. In some cases, it is true that someone’s fetish may be the opposite of their public life. Any professional dominatrix will have clients who are rich and powerful. Yet people are gonna bother me either way. Generally for us men, actually they won’t. But she ISN'T telling me anything. Telling me with her body doesn't mean anything. /r/PurplePillDebate09/02/21 05:21 PM
2

Not filtering because you're scared of being alone doesn't necessarily mean that the person you stay with wouldn't have passed those filters had you been a bit more choosy. Obviously there's a bit of luck involved. There's nothing to say that the first possible partner that comes along isn't going to be someone you perfectly click with, it's just that it may also be someone you don't.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/02/21 05:01 PM
8

I don't think so, no. I've known most of my friends for longer than they were in relationships together, and nobody was really showing fear of loneliness or settling before they got with their partner. I think that was the point, though. That the fear of loneliness will often actually peak in your 20s and early 30s, when you most feel like you're past your prime. When you age through your 30s, that subsides (the fear of hitting your 30s fades when you realise being 35 isn't as old as you felt it…
/r/PurplePillDebate09/02/21 04:58 PM
2

I guess that is entirely dependent on the relationship Someone entering into a relationship due to loneliness or desire to have children whilst they can will often make bad decisions or overlook things that they shouldn't. But that isn't to say that a relationship entered into in this context is necessarily unhealthy or bad. You can meet a good partner whilst in this mindset, it's just that you're less likely to get rid of the bad ones when they come up.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/02/21 04:48 PM
8

This lines up with most of my experiences and my peers experiences. Most of my friends met their current partners when in their early to mid 30s. They're all in 10+ year relationships and marriages because exactly as you say, when they met, they were more mature and secure in themselves and what they wanted, so prioritised things that are condusive to long and successful relationships.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/02/21 04:39 PM
6

I'm not sure that's true or very healthy. Plenty of child free relationships and marriages thrive, and are usually reported as being happier because the lack of focus on raising children gives the couple more time and money to focus on each other and the relationship as a whole. The childless couples that do stay together, tend to do so because one partner is completely financially dependent on the other But childfree couples tend to be more financially equitable because they're childless. Why would you want to fuck someone who you don’t have a particularly high opinion of? Have you no standards? I mean, obviously you don’t have to love someone to fuck them, but actually liking them and having some concern for their welfare at the very least should be a bare minimum. Otherwise you may as well just fuck a wet ham
/r/PurplePillDebate09/02/21 04:18 PM
5

Yeah, that’s the problem. Body language does have weight, because no woman is going to walk into a room and announce to the whole room to leave her alone because she just wants to sit by herself and read a book If an imaginary line in the sand makes you feel a bit better about how you behave, fair enough, but it is imagined. Either way, you’re ignoring what she’s telling you and what you clearly understand because you want her and that’s all that’s important
/r/PurplePillDebate09/02/21 04:13 PM
8

If your goal is to fuck women, is it okay to try if their body language says “leave me alone”? If so, is it okay to try if her verbal language says “leave me alone”? Is it okay if she’s screaming “leave me alone” at the top of her lungs? How much “no” crosses the line for you lot in you goal to “fuck women”? Do you even have any sense of basic respect for the person you’re aim is to fuck, or is it just because you want to feel like the kind of man who can fuck women?
/r/PurplePillDebate09/02/21 04:08 PM
4

You said that you approach women with the assumption that they know full well what you’re after Then assume they’re bratty and antisocial if they use body language to communicate that they don’t want whatever you’re offering. Then seemingly don’t care and approach anyway, because it seems clear body language which you admit you pick up on isn’t a firm enough “please leave me alone”. Because your wants are more important Are you aware of how that sounds?
/r/PurplePillDebate09/02/21 04:04 PM
4

Then corrected to be about body language to show she doesn’t want to be approached. This whole thread is a man arguing that it’s okay to ignore a woman’s wishes because he shouldn’t have to put her wishes above his own “Resting bitch face” is just a description of the fact that some people’s neutral expression might look a bit angry
/r/PurplePillDebate09/02/21 03:58 PM
8

I’m a guy, btw. But in any case, from what you’re saying, the distinction isn’t there. All the interactions you’re having with this hypothetical woman have the ultimate aim of having her sleep with you From the way you describe it “being purely conversational” isn’t being purely conversational, it’s strategising about when you can escalate. It’s all an angle. Don’t you think women know you’re going to try this before you even start? Hence why they’d rather not bother if they’re not interested
/r/PurplePillDebate09/02/21 03:50 PM
14

What other “please leave me alone” statements are you willing to ignore?
/r/PurplePillDebate09/02/21 03:44 PM

I'm not talking about sexual advances. When I first approach a woman, I just have a conversation with her. Sexual advances come later, once I can tell that she IS open to it. Yeah, but talking to her is a sexual advance if it’s the start of a sexual advance. She knows that the sexual advance starts later, and isn’t interested so shuts it down before it even gets to that. Seriously, if someone’s not interested, get the message and move on. If you’ve noticed that a woman is not looking interested,…

You completely missed the point of what I was saying. smh. I could also say basic respect is NOT treating someone who tries to have a basic conversation with you as an annoyance. Now you're probably gonna say that nobody owes me anything, which brings me back to my original point. I don't "owe" it to a woman I approach to put her wants above my own. Nobody’s saying you need to put her wants above yours, just that they’re of equal value. She wants to be left alone, you want to approach her. She’s…

I'm interested in them. I don't know how them adopting cold body language is supposed to deter me. Maybe my experiences are somewhat different given where I live (Cambridge U.K., which is fairly similar to Cambridge MA in the USA) there is a high amount of graduates, women in STEM jobs and men and women who have no intention of having children. If it’s about you getting what you want, you shouldn’t marry (or rather men should be very wary of marrying you). Why? All benefits listed a mutually and equally beneficial. The man is also receiving the same benefits

Why shouldn’t assets purchased during a marriage be split 50/50?
/r/PurplePillDebate24/01/21 09:21 PM
3

I know 2 couples who divorced. In both cases, the equity in the house was the messiest part of the split. It’s generally the only one that has to be sold to be shared, or one person has to buy the other out. All other assets are distributed on a roughly equal value split. In a long relationship, most possessions are either purchased using shared funds (both my wife and I purchased thing like TVs and furniture together) or of zero interest to the other (if we split, she’d have no interest in my m…
/r/PurplePillDebate24/01/21 09:09 PM
3

Here in the UK, that ownership split is defined at time of purchase, and not necessarily straightforward to change afterwards if circumstances change. And generally in a DINK situation, both parties will pay the same and not have an asymmetric split Not sure if it’s the same elsewhere
/r/PurplePillDebate24/01/21 08:58 PM
4

Unless you specify a different split in the legal agreements, ownership is automatically 50/50
/r/PurplePillDebate24/01/21 08:54 PM
3

The only thing that tends to get sold is the house, because it’s generally the most significant asset. Pensions will, for the most part, be kept per person. Smaller assets/belongings will usually just get divided up, and any time a court gets involved because it gets ugly, they’ll take a pragmatic view: If he keeps the TV, she keeps the sofa, etc
/r/PurplePillDebate24/01/21 08:47 PM
2

I did and I did. Well, being fair, we bought the house first. Mainly because in the market we're in, it would have cost $550k instead of $500k had we waited until afterwards
/r/PurplePillDebate24/01/21 08:38 PM
3

Why buy no assets? Most people enter into relationships with either no significant assets, or equal. If they're obtaining assets during their time in the relationship, such as a house, then that should be split 50/50 on divorce. Because they've both been paying the mortgage
/r/PurplePillDebate24/01/21 08:37 PM
2

You can, and lots of people do. There are financial advantages to being married, however, and for some couples it feels more permanent, even if that's just psychological.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/01/21 08:33 PM
3

Tax benefits aren't usually much of an advantage if both are on similar incomes, but automated inheritance is no matter your situation. Some people also just like the idea of being married So again, what's the downside if there's no disparity in assets or earnings prior to marriage?
/r/PurplePillDebate24/01/21 08:32 PM
2

It’s often difficult to buy property without a partner, depending on location. A starter home around here is around £350k/$500k, which most people wouldn’t be able to get a mortgage for without a partner
/r/PurplePillDebate24/01/21 08:13 PM
3

i dont know how it works in the us .. but where im from a joint account is a joint account because both can access the account whenever they want Actual joint accounts, yes. But not all couples’ finances are in joint accounts, and it’s quite difficult to get to your deceased partner’s named account if you’re just common law partner. What are the downsides, assuming 2 people coming together with roughly equal incomes and no significant assets?
/r/PurplePillDebate24/01/21 08:09 PM
2

Why? Red pillers have this weird fantasy of having all of their assets stolen from them in a divorce. Despite the fact that most of them are in their mid 20s with no significant assets. In fact, most people don’t have significant assets until after they’re married, by which point they truly are joint owned
/r/PurplePillDebate24/01/21 08:03 PM
2

yeah and thats ok if you feel that way. Does anyone who loves their partner not want to give them easy access to pension funds and joint accounts after death?

2 adults with no kids can live in a one bedroom condo or apartment just fine. There's no reason to buy a 3+ bedroom house for 2 people not planning to have kids. What's the point of having that space if you don't have kids? Space for hobbies, guests staying over, home working spaces, a private outdoor space to enjoy. I have a 2 bedroom house and I’m in a child free marriage. Our spare bedroom is currently being used as a guest bedroom, a space for me to make music as a hobby, a space for my wife…

I don’t know, I’m quite happy with the fact that my wife will have no problem accessing joint funds and my pension without having to go through an overly bureaucratic process if I die before her.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/01/21 06:41 PM

Being married also tend to make inheritance easier when one partner dies, and pensions are often automatically paid to the surviving partner
/r/PurplePillDebate24/01/21 05:59 PM

Why is paying on a date getting fucked financially? Someone expecting you to pay your share is more likely to treat you as an equal, rather than the little woman who needs taking care of. Those who pay will think of themselves as being owed in some way

You're living proof of a 21 year old dude questioning how to get a particular type of girl because you are having trouble getting any particular girl to be your girlfriend. You are using the word "ambitious woman" to somehow create a market of women that are willing to buy what you are selling...but there aren't. Not sure that’s true. However like I mentioned in the original comment, childfree relationships don't last. I don’t think that’s true. Statistically, college educated couples who meet later in life (late 20s-early 30s) tend to have the most successful marriages Guess which demographic are also most likely to be child free by choice

I get the mindset of some blues here. Women can do no wrong when you just reframe the occurrence into something less offensive. Then saying, hey, no one's perfect, as if to be the male version woman rationalizing her shitty husbands abusive actions. Who said it wasn’t wrong? I’m not sure taking your wedding ring off and ostentatiously tossing it in your partner’s direction in an argument could really be classed as abusive or offensive.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/01/21 08:10 PM
2

Yeah, people do irrational things when they’re angry. As long as nothing they do is abusive or harmful and they apologise afterwards, no problem. And she didn’t throw something because she was mad (it was more tossed in my direction rather than thrown in anger), it was obviously a symbolic gesture You think adults are immune from doing such things then reflecting on it being wrong afterwards? Wonderfully happy together, thanks. You think sex once or twice a week or so between a married couple in their 40s isn’t enough? We’re married, and have sex whenever we like. But over time, it’s not the driver of a relationship.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/01/21 07:52 PM

Can’t remember what it was about, but we shouted at each other a bit and she took her wedding ring off and threw it towards me. To her own admission, she’s quite a fan of the dramatic gesture But, y’know, after an argument you calm down, apologise and talk to each other properly and calmly

/r/PurplePillDebate03/01/21 06:54 PM

/r/PurplePillDebate03/01/21 06:34 PM

/r/PurplePillDebate03/01/21 06:34 PM
1

Suicide statistics show “regulating themselves” isn’t going too well. I know, I know, it’s not toxic masculinity. Despite modern medicine stating that it is exactly what is causing men to kill themselves. Wrong kind of scientists, right? Why do you feel the need to “regulate” someone else?
/r/PurplePillDebate03/01/21 06:11 PM
1

Yeah, enforcing an image of masculinity that has no relevance to the modern world through strict conformity. Can’t have people thinking for themselves about the nature of masculinity, can we? Otherwise that might mean that everything you’ve built your identity around might just be a lie, right?
/r/PurplePillDebate03/01/21 05:50 PM
1

Yep. What kinds of archetypes are boys shown from birth? The soldier, the fighter, the cowboy, the Greek Adonis, the sports hero. These are the things that teach us what we need to aspire to to be a man when we still think girls smell. It’s not women that perpetuated these archetypes, they come from a time where women’s only contribution to society was domestic
/r/PurplePillDebate03/01/21 05:44 PM
4

Yep, this is the whole thing with toxic masculinity. The problems men and boys face are rigidly enforced by other men and boys, not women. Most male problems are due to the crab mentality of other males

Because when he’s older we’re in different life stages, there’s already a power dynamic that is inevitable and unavoidable. No it’s not. I’m married and in my early 40s. My wife earns about the same as me, and we contribute equally to all things in our life. The power dynamic between 2 people is entirely of their choosing In a way it IS entitlement, but that comes from choice. When you have many choices, you can like all of them, but you still have to go on a date with someone. Because the choic…

if he’s a few years older (let’s say 23/24) and asks me out to a nice place, then I will definitely expect it. But why? We’ve already established that it doesn’t in any way imply dependability or anything at all, as narcissistic players tend to throw just as much, if not more money at women on dates. If anything, expecting to split the bill implies he sees you as independent and capable in your own right, and respects you as an equal And that the idea of a date is supposed to be mutually enjoyab…
/r/PurplePillDebate02/01/21 11:35 AM

Social convention for the sake of it is not a good reason, especially when you know it’s just a historical social convention Paying on dates is an incredibly poor way of demonstrating dependability. See above poster who enjoyed spending lots of money on hot women, despite having no intention of anything other than a fuck. Experience will show you it’s a bad decision to base dependability on whether a man will pay for your date
/r/PurplePillDebate02/01/21 11:25 AM
1

What difference does that make? It’s just a social convention that he asks you out, and you’re both taking a chance on whether you enjoy the company of the other person. Splitting the bill makes it clear both parties owe and are owed nothing. The date can be on neutral terms, and just about enjoying each other’s company
/r/PurplePillDebate02/01/21 11:15 AM
1

Why? A date is supposed to be a mutually enjoyable event. Nobody is there to get any more or less out of it than the other. I certainly don’t need the implication that I will be covering the bill to persuade a woman to spend a couple of hours in my company. Nor do I feel it appropriate to be the price of entry for a couple of hours of her company. The idea that she’s incapable of providing for herself is a bit patronising, also

Sexual assault is sexual assault. It’s not rape, but it’s still sexual assault. It’s not banter, or being assertive, it’s sexual assault. And if more people thought of these everyday behaviours as those of a sex offender, they’d happen less, and the world might actually be a nicer place to be for a lot of people. Sorry if copping a feel now makes you feel like a sex offender. It should. All men should be shamed into not sexually assaulting women.

It’s something to have an uproar over in all circumstances. The fact that we’ve tolerated some forms of sexual assault (patting someone’s butt, for example) doesn’t make it any less of a problem Hence the Me Too movement making a point of describing sexual assault as sexual assault, rather than allowing it to be tolerated. Most times a woman uses penis size as an insult, it’s to someone who’s penis she’s never seen, or to an ex who she dislikes. In the case of the ex, invariably his penis size wasn’t an issue when they were together. That’s the point, it’s a below the belt insult. Not a problem, though, it’s not like men don’t use below the belt insults as well.

Is 4 inches the minimum for a guy before he can't really be good in bed? I'm asking because I'm genuinely curious. It scares me to be so close to what's unacceptable. One less inch and I'd be unlovable? You say close, but in this case, 20% smaller. That’s not close to being 4 inches
/r/PurplePillDebate31/12/20 03:19 PM

Men don't do anything of that equivalence to women. I don’t think that’s true. People generally will say things they know will hurt someone else if they want to hurt that person “Dread game” is probably a more scumbag thing to do to somebody.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/12/20 02:57 PM

And you be lying if you claimed women don't do it just as much. I think it's shitty either way. Generally, women will only criticise penis size as a general insult, rather than an honest criticism. /r/PurplePillDebate29/12/20 09:31 PM
3

Yes, but why should the society bear the risk and not the individuals doing the deed? Because ultimately, if the individual doing the deed cannot afford to bear the risk, there is still a human life that needs to be cared for. You can condemn the individuals all you like, it doesn’t change the fact that a child exists in the world that needs to be fed, clothed and housed by somebody, even if the parents cannot
/r/PurplePillDebate29/12/20 09:21 PM

Without free contraception, there’ll be too many kids for orphanages and foster care. Jail for having children without being able to afford them will just result in DIY abortions (because you probably resent funding those as well) or killing the child after birth. Dimorphic attraction is also influenced by society. If aggression and physical strength are not encouraged by society because they are seen as detrimental, then they wouldn't necessarily be seen as attractive to the opposite sex. Because males' physiological differences wouldn't necessarily manifest into higher strength and aggression. They'd be abstracted into something else

They're not all social, and I don't think anyone has stated they are. But as social creatures, we tend to abstract our biological states into social constructs. Masculinity cannot be defined “objectively”. I would say it’s something like the evolved expectation and identity of men based on tradition, biology, and sociocultural influences. Exactly. Hence why you cannot define it objectively. It's based on tradition, biology and sociocultural influences. So it is true, there are self-destructive elements within masculinity. But the idea these are purely societal and can be socially reconditioned is superficial nonsense. I'll await your justification of this. Because the modern sociological thought in this contradicts you. Men are more outwardly aggressive. This aggression is overwhelmingly due to biology, not social conditioning. I'll await your proof on this. Probably from some RP repository of thousands of half read thesis. Ignoring the equal …

The equal retirement age issue in the UK isn’t a problem with it being implemented, it’s a problem with the way it was implemented. Nobody has a problem with women and men retiring at the same age, they had a problem that it wasn’t phased and that a woman born on October 5th 1954 will retire at 60, but a woman born the next day will retire at 66, and had only 9 or so years to plan for this because that’s when the change was announced

Because, as you’ve just stated, the way it’s talked about colloquially is not actually what it means. And if you’re using the colloquial meaning of it, then maybe you’re not talking about the same thing as the people who are using the actual meaning of it

Lavish first dates are considered a bit crass in the U.K., and splitting the bill is pretty common. I’ve certainly never paid for a woman on a date and it’s never a problem. Even later in the relationship, no woman I know would accept an engagement ring worth more than £800ish ($1000) and most would have a problem with receiving one for more than a few hundred. Again, it’s seen as crass Similar to much of Western Europe, it’s seen as being tasteless and vulgar to overtly display wealth

So you have a problem with the fact that a woman won’t do something she’s done before, even if she never a actually liked doing it before? There’s no suggestion that it’s not fine to withdraw consent for a relationship at any time. Couples break up, and we don’t necessarily blame either party. No fault divorce is essentially state sanctioned withdrawing consent for marriage, with no judgement either way. There is a big difference between withdrawing consent for a relationship and never actually intending to commit at all but pretending you do. “Inherent” reward. Separated from a subjective one. There is an inherent reward given by sex. Our body physiologically provides a reward for doing so. There is not the same reward for actually passing down your genetic material. You may feel it to be rewarding, but it’s just a matter of opinion. There are some men who think it's worth it to impregnate a woman and try to get other people raise the child -- clearly. Why clearly? Why do you think, for these men, there is any concern for impregnat…

Having a genetic lineage isn’t a reward in itself. It makes little difference to the quality of someone’s life An inherent reward of a genetic lineage is a nonsense misunderstanding of evolution and evolutionary drives, assigning a consciousness and judgement to evolution. There is no “reward” in carrying on your genetic lineage. It’s just a feedback loop process

Depends on what you mean by pretentious. The pretentious clubs (if you’re not into obscure Belgian new beat all produced over a 6 month period in 1988, none of which sold mores than 50 copies, you’re not welcome type thing. A serious music policy is when what is being played in the club is the most important thing. If you’re not there for the music, go home. If your main reason for going to a club is to get laid, then that’s a bit embarrassing after your early 20s
/r/PurplePillDebate06/12/20 08:59 PM

Depends on where you’re going to and why. If you’re going to a serious club with a good music policy, then I don’t see there’s any real age limit. I saw guys in there 40s and 50s in places like Fabric in London and Berghain in Berlin when I used to go to clubs regularly. Everyone’s there solely for the music and clubbing experience, so age doesn’t matter. Don’t know the US equivalents in places like LA and New York But if you’re going to a generic club as a way to get laid, past 30 is not good

Surely you can see that socially sanctioned violence to resolve disputes sanctions the very idea that it is correct to use violence to resolve a dispute. I’m surprised you can’t see the link between what you want and what you brother in law’s attacker wanted: He was just using violence to assert the fact that your brother in law took from him something that was rightfully his. The underlying cultural factor is that violence is the way to resolve the dispute. We bombard boys with images of heroic…

In which case, there’s very little your relative could have done. Physical prowess doesn’t help in this situation, either. As you say, he couldn’t fight back. So him having aggressive masculinity didn’t fail him in this situation, but it didn’t help him either. Some might say it’s useless at best, and harmful at worst. So it’s down to the attackers. That’s the same stuff people are bullied are always told... Meanwhile, in the adult world... If you’re stupid enough to be enraged by someone starting shit, you’re already displaying toxic masculinity. Because the aggression you feel is going to land you in trouble whereas walking away isn’t. Your aggression serves you worse in the modern world Even if threatened by a criminal, the rational action is to give them what they want. Fighting them puts you at greater risk of being killed.

Why do you assume there is a purpose? Why does a species propagate itself? Why do you think there is a some form of purpose to this? To think that there is a purpose to evolution is a profound misunderstanding of it. Evolution is just a feedback loop of random mutations. This is toxic masculinity, though. Old notions of “masculinity” that used to be useful but are harmful in a modern context In older cultures, it was important to be able to fend off attackers. In modern society, it is a pointless skill, and also causes problems in society. But our idea of masculinity holds onto it as an ideal for no reason other than legacy. A “biological imperative” is a rationalisation. It’s far too complex a term to exist in itself in nature. An instinct is a simple drive, and procreation is a complex concept. We are intelligent enough to rationalise that our urge to fuck will result in a child and propagating the species. But other animals don’t know this. The instinct is to fuck, not to bear a offspring. They probably aren’t able to link the sexual process to the result of becoming pregnant. There is just the urge to mate. The …

Nope, not at all Again, if the biological imperative to reproduce is felt indirectly through the urge to have sex, then a sex drive has no relationship to the urge to have children: If we feel the urge to mate, there’s no need to feel the urge to reproduce as it’s an inevitable result of mating. Until we figured out how to mate without reproduction. Pair bonding is the result of Oxytocin. This is released during breastfeeding, orgasm, and physical contact. So in evolutionary terms, the female pa…

Biological imperatives are indirect. We experience them as side effects to our urges. We don’t feel the need to fuel our body, we feel subjective hunger, and the act of satisfying that urge fuels our body We feel the urge to have sex, and in satisfying that urge, we will procreate. Except we’ve outwitted our biological imperatives. We can satisfy our sexual urges without procreation being an inevitability. We also keep alive those that would naturally die. Our intellect has made evolution obsole…

Pair bonding, which in evolutionary terms encourages a safe childhood for offspring. We experience it as love, but again, the evolutionary purpose is indirect; we feel the urge, and the purpose naturally happens. sex and reproduction are no different But here is the rub: There is not a evolutionary desire to have sex, there is an evolutionary desire to reproduce and that manifests itself in the desire for sex. And because we as a species have a high degree of intelligence, we’re able to receive the reward without needing the evolutionary reason for giving th…

The problem with evolutionary attraction is that it ignores that we are the most socially complex animal on earth. Our complex intellect and consciousness abstracts instinctual drives into something far more influenced by culture than the initial drive. I think you have an odd view on relationships. If she viewed her current man as a “downgrade”, she’d be with someone else. Women have a massive range on what they’re attracted to, and any “raw sexual magnetism” or whatever fades after the first year. No matter how much of a Chad thundercock you are, she’ll hear you snoring or go in the bathroom after you’ve done a smelly shit in there. Any partner telling you they don’t want you to see your opposite sex friends anymore is a massive red flag. It shows controlling and distrustful tendencies

The reason women cheat is the same reason as men cheat: In a relationship, the exciting feeling of being with someone new will necessarily fade and be replaced with something else. But the excitement of someone new will always be tempting, and some people have poor impulse control Nothing to do with their partner becoming more beta through a relationship, just the simple matter that their partner is also the everyday and routine. Maturity means you realise the exciting feelings of someone new ar…

and yes, if you are a weak person, you are less masculine. So a man who defined himself using traditional values will often perceive himself as weak when he is expected to live up to inhuman standards. So if he is not resilient (which happens as we age), he is weak and less masculine. If he shows emotional pain, he is weak and less masculine And the solution is to not show these things? As above, novelty is exciting. When you first get into a relationship with someone, it’s all giddy thrills and butterflies and tearing each other’s clothes off. But that never lasts in any relationship. It fades off to something different, deeper. Why do you think all girls will cheat at some point? Women are no more likely to cheat than men. The fact is, novelty is exciting. No getting away from that. Some people have poor impulse control, some don’t. “Some dude on YouTube” doesn’t necessarily hold the truth to relationships. He is right that you should just enjoy your time with a woman. No, you should enter into a relationship knowing that it can be one of life’s most rewarding and fulfilling things you can do, but also can be one of life’s most painful things. Most people’s relationships will end in heartache in some way or another. Even the longest lasting, most loving relationship, one partner will have to cope with the other dying. Other studies show a general preference for looking at dolls or doll faces over cars and trucks for both male and female infants. The conclusion of the study you’ve linked to is that there are many effects, but socialisation is suggested as the main one, due to the fact that strong preferences start to appear only after 15 months. It in no way shows or concludes that biology is the main driving factor in these preferences
/r/PurplePillDebate11/11/20 10:13 PM

Once again, it has to be noted that not all studies on hormonal effects reveal congruent findings. While a positive correlation was observed between male infants' (n = 63) gender‐specific toy preferences (e.g., trucks over dolls) during structured play and their prenatal progesterone levels, no such correlation was found for female infants (n = 63) and no correlation was observed between gender and prenatal estradiol and testosterone levels (van de Beek, van Goozen, Buitelaar, & Cohen‐Kettenis, …

The study you link to refutes what you’re saying. Had they stayed with any of the men they slept with in their youth, that visceral attraction and tingles would have faded too That’s exactly the point. The visceral attraction is necessary at the start of a relationship, but will always fade over time. That feeling is unsustainable. As people mature, though, they accept the trade off. Because you come to understand that actually being in love with someone is more rewarding than the necessarily fleeting visceral attraction
/r/PurplePillDebate10/11/20 05:33 PM
1

Long term it doesn’t really work like that. No matter how attractive your partner is, familiarity and routine means that, sometimes, they’re just your best mate sitting on the sofa next to you. Other times you want to rip their clothes off with lustful passion. Most people on here have little experience of what love is like long term

Define “unattractive” Because attraction doesn’t work like a tickbox exercise in real life, and there isn’t really a scale. When you’re in a relationship with someone, someone’s attractiveness is as much influenced by your feelings for them as it is how they physically look. “the men they fucked in their 20s” will often be “less attractive” than their husband, because they don’t see a shared history of love and experiences when they look at photos of the men they fucked in their 20s, whereas the…

Yes it is. Because if the man is paying, it’s seen as transactional rather than a meeting of minds. It’s only a small percentage of women who view men as workhorses to be exploited for their wealth. Yeah, I don’t think you really understand feminism. Feminism is not about forcing women to make choices against their own wishes It does recognise that with freedom comes at a cost that must be borne. Nobody wants to be a workhorse for life, but if you want freedom, you need to be able to support yourself. Without the means to pay your own way, you have zero power, and will always be beholden to the person who pays for you
/r/PurplePillDebate21/10/20 06:47 PM

There are laws against abuse, but they rely on someone reporting that abuse

Legally half of the husband’s money is her money, so she can use it... If she is able to access it. Once divorce has been filed, joint accounts are frozen automatically. And that’s presuming she knows where the cash is. If the husband has control of the finances, she may only get access via a credit card or a couple of thousand at a time put into an account.

If the only goal is individual choice and freedom for women You cannot have choices and freedom if you’re relying on someone else’s financial support. These women still have the mindset of feminism No they don’t. A key concept of feminism is financial independence. That the woman is able to provide for herself should the need arise. Which in reality, gets a bit tedious after a time Real life, however, suggests that most men find happiness and a meaningful and happy relationship with someone they’re attracted to and is attracted to them.

Lose or stop faking these and she stops being attracted to you Have you ever had a proper, long term relationship? If this was true, it would be rare relationships last a few years of cohabitation, as it’s just not possible (or even desirable) to maintain this
/r/PurplePillDebate06/10/20 07:53 PM

The impulses are that all humans can find other humans attractive, and the first flush of someone new is exciting and tempting to all. Women will cheat on the alpha partners with someone more “beta” because they’re new and novel
/r/PurplePillDebate06/10/20 07:50 PM
1

The desire to cheat isn’t preventable. Being attracted to a person never means you won’t find other people attractive. Hypergamy is nonsense, all humans, men and women alike, are interested in variety. Do you not think “alphas” ever get cheated on?

What counts as “attraction” after 10-20-30 years together is different than after 6 months together. Because over time, what you see when you look at the other person is coloured by other factors. When you see your partner’s face over time, you see your shared history or your general feelings for that person as much as you see their actual face.

If we take the example of someone cheating, what red pill doesn’t teach you is that long term monogomy is hard: Relationships will always have an element of mundanity to them, and sometimes you won’t feel raw animal passion for the person who’s just farted on the sofa sitting next to you. That limerance is exciting and thrilling but impossible to maintain long term, and that people can often have poor impulse control. Most cases of cheating are going to be down to this, rather than some theory o…

Your sample size for “all women” seems to be the people you know in a small town And only naive, inexperienced people believe “sex is meant to be SPECIAL”. Sex can be all kinds of different things. Sometimes it’s a special bond between 2 people. Sometimes it’s an animalistic act between 2 people who have only just met. Sometimes it’s 20 naked bodies in a room. Human sexuality is a varied and fascinating thing

The issue I have with this is that by and large, men and women judge each other by different metrics: Men for power, status, and utility; Women for youth, fertility, and beauty. It ends up like a math/physics problem where the units don't convert. But in a world where women now have their own power, status and utility, they can select partners using different, often more abstract criteria. They don't necessarily need that from men anymore.

Why are men choosing more deadly ways to kill themselves? Both sexes presumably have access to the same methods. It’s not that I don’t accept some women don’t experience side effects. As per this thread, some women see a benefit. Some have no side effects. Some have mild. Some have debilitating side effects. The point is more that it’s seen as default that the woman has to experience any downsides of contraception, and often there’s no real conversation. If a woman experiences mild side effects, how mild is acceptable to avoid using condoms and suffer minor loss of sensation during sex? Is acne acceptable?…
/r/PurplePillDebate30/09/20 07:11 AM

What, that women would rather share the downsides of contraception and only experiencing them during sex than suffer side effects of the pill or coil continuously? Have you ever actually asked? That’s because women are taught to believe that men won’t wear condoms and that the side effects of the pill are just a fact of life. The fact that you say you don’t like using condoms because they make sex not feel as good, despite the common knowledge that other forms of birth control often have some pretty nasty side effects suggests you give zero fucks. Vasectomies have a 1%-14% (depending on which medical authority you use) chance of leading to long term testicular pain. If the 1% is correct, that’s not so bad, but if the 14% is correct, that’s not great. They’re also not a great idea for all men: previous testicular surgery, like a childhood orchiopexy, increases the risk of complications.

Yeah, maybe it’s that. Stay angry at the world because you imagine it’s hard for you as a man. My experience of it hasn’t been particularly hard. Sorry. The only difference between us appears to be that you’re a misogynist

I’ve never been considered an abomination as a man. Maybe because I don’t have abhorrent attitudes

You don’t sound like you have much experience with women, just a lot of bad ideas about them.

And this is why the other guy is always going to be better at sex than you. And there’s a logical inconsistency in saying you have a problem with women sleeping with lots of men because you understand there’s always someone better looking or better at sex to compare you to, but then actively don’t care about the one thing that will make you better at sex (and probably improve your own sex life)

I think you’re making a fundamental mistake in believing that everyone has the same dysfunctional attitude towards sex as you do. Casual sex and sex within a loving relationship could well be considered completely different things that share the name “sex”. They’re often done for different reasons. You can’t really say that giving someone sex on a one night stand is the same as giving someone sex in a loving relationship. My wife has often said she used to “play a part” when having one night sta…

41 and you’ve not yet worked out that the “quality” of sex is situational and communicational rather than something you’re “good at” Someone who is “good at” sex is someone who is able to get the other into the correct headspace and read that other person. Those things rely on having good communication with the other person, not by being attractive and skilled

I think it’s mainly well adjusted people who understand that sex can be both a physical representation of an abstract feeling and a really fun way to spend an hour or two Alpha fux and beta bux is bullshit anyway. Not sure what “bux” my wife wanted from me, she’s consistently out earned me throughout our relationship

Not everyone wants to settle down before their 30s And a lot of women, correlating with education, couldn’t really care less about their biological clock

We live in a modern, liberal world. We’re not half as “degenerate” as the ancient Greeks, and we hold them up to be a high point of historical culture Your view of degeneracy comes from a Victorian English culture. Don’t you think it’s time to throw those shackles away?

In terms of the Chad committing, at that period of her life she may not have been interested in the Chad committing. She possibly only went with him because she was bored and horny

I said semi spiritual. I’m as atheist as they come, but sex can and often does feel like a physical manifestation of abstract feelings you have for someone It can and often does feel like furious, animalistic rutting, also. Sometimes it feels like both at the same time

I mean, if you’ve got insecurity issues, of course you’re going to worry that your girlfriend/wife enjoyed sex with the Chad with the 10 inch penis she may have had before more than you. Mentally well adjusted people couldn’t care less, however. Because if she liked them better, she wouldn’t be with you

Men and women should come to a mutually agreed framework for their relationship, and being faithful is just a case of sticking to those agreements. If you both want a polygamous relationship, fine. If you both want a monogamous relationship, fine. If one of you wants something the other doesn’t, staying together will only lead to unhappiness. Fairly easy, really

My wife had a lot of casual sex and some relationships prior to us being married. As did I. We got together when I was 30 and she was 34 Neither of us mentally compare the sex with each other with the sex we had before. For one, after a decade together, we don’t really remember others, but also there’s no real way to compare: It’s a fairly unique experience dependent on the people involved. There is no better, just different

Why is it about “valuing yourself”? Why do you believe enjoying a single night of sexual excitement with someone means that you don’t value yourself?
/r/PurplePillDebate26/09/20 04:31 PM

What a weird way to view sex. It can be a fun, exciting purely sensual experience or a semi spiritual expression of love, or both at the same time. Sometimes sex might be a deep yearning for closeness with another person. Sometimes you just need to fuck. None of these things are mutually exclusive, and experiencing one in no way reduces you ability to experience the others
