| 158 | Praise and preach.I was 45 years old, single, childless and intent on staying that way when my 35-year-old date put out, insisting she was on the pill, insisting she had no STDs, insisting that I rail her bareback. So I did. That was 15 years ago. I have a 14-year-old daughter now. I never married her mother. I lost everything -- twice -- in a series of custody and child support actions initiated by her designed to A) deny me any custodial rights and B) take as much money as possible in child support. I told her … | /r/MensRights | 15/02/20 02:29 PM |

| 1 | Unmarried Dads: How did you gain custody of your child? [x-post from /r/daddit]Under the laws of the state I live in (CA), father's rights are EQUAL to mother's rights in this situation. Get a GOOD, REPUTABLE family law attorney who's comfortable in whichever court has jurisdiction. Do not allow the mother of your child to make false claims that would empower a judge to negate your rights. Insist on 50/50 physical and legal custody, at a minimum. Best of luck. | /r/MensRights | 16/10/15 04:38 PM |

| 2 | I'm in court next week over custody of my son and my ex has lied and said I'm on drugs, aggressive, and a danger, what can I do?I have been exactly in this place. If 1) none of what she says is true, 2) you have no restraining order against you, 3) you're not on hard drugs, and 4) you have no criminal record you probably don't have anything to worry about. The court needs proof that you're a menace, or, more accurately, that your presence in your son's life is not in his best interests. Have you done anything at all that would enable her to make a case against you? No? Then you probably don't have too much to worry about… | /r/MensRights | 27/09/15 03:24 AM |

| 1 | I'm not gloating, but as a single dad today I celebrate a dramatic reduction in my monthly child support amount - from $720 to $50 per month!OP here...Just to clarify, I used to make six figures plus and lived out of state, which tilted the scale heavily in favor of unemployed bio-mom. In my state (CA), child support is calculated mostly based on 1) % of time with minor child and 2) income. For the first five years (or so) of my daughter's life I lived in CO and visited once a month, meaning I had about 10% share of custody and a huge ($1,742 per month) payment. I had an inexperienced attorney who advised me to voluntarily quit my jo… | /r/MensRights | 02/11/14 03:55 PM |

I was ten years her senior, in semi-retirement and I didn't want children. She told me she had no STDs and was on the pill. When she came up pregnant I assumed we'd be making a trip to the Family Planning clinic but she said "Oh no. I don't believe in abortion as a form of birth control. I'm having this baby whether you like it or not. I may not get another chance." This is a 36-year-old woman with no college education and no steady job. … | /r/MensRights | 22/08/14 02:02 PM |

| 4 | Forgotten Fathers: How the current broken child support and welfare system damages, even kills, poor and working class menI've been on the hook for child support since the day my eight year old daughter was born. I've made monthly payments ranging from $1,750 to $720 (decrease the result of going from 10%/90% custody to 50%/50%). I've paid her mother more than a quarter million dollars cash (after tax) in those eight years. Her mother has not worked since my daughter was born and to this day she refuses to seek employment.
