Good for you. I started something similar about 5 years ago. Once I got to 100 in a set, I switched stuff up. These days I just crank out 50-70, 2x or 3x a day. I also rest every 3rd day. After rest days, I just go max reps. It's definitely hard on your shoulders. But it's a good workout.

This works. I often get laughed at, sneered at, snickered at, when I pull up but you know what? Don't care. I own a new car, a 25 year old car and a $100,000 tractor/ trailer. When i drive the old car, i look poor and get treated as such. When i drive the tractor trailer, i get looked at as lowly working class muck and get treated as such. When I'm in the new car, women pay attention and smile. I prefer the old car for short drives and, of course, the tractor trailer to make $$$.

I used to do 8 sets of 50. That really messed up my shoulder. I was doing them way too often. I've since learned that daily push ups isn't the best thing, for me, when doing large numbers.

I was stuck on 80 forever and then I started the pull ups and within a week, i was cranking out 100- everyother day. I learned my lesson the hard way when I was doing too many push ups every day. I ripped my shoulder up pretty bad and that's not something i ever want to deal with again. It takes forever to heal and not being able to lift my arm up really just sucked.

I just do what I want, daily. Want to work... I work. Want to ride go-karts and play putt-putt, I go do that. A few weeks ago I just took off to an amusement park and rode coasters all day.
