If it failed simply because women were in the lead, it certainly wouldn't fit here. I think the point OP is making is that many people involved in it tried to shame people into watching it and called critics sexist, and it didn't work. I can see it.

Not to mention Ray Rice technically hit second, but have fun trying to argue with someone that he did the right thing. There are cases when the person who hit first isn't the most guilty, and cases in which it's the opposite. Context is more than who hit first.

Not true at all. The narrative my sister (and most people who aren't actively on the internet) sees and believes is that a bunch of angry teenage boys are attacking feminists on twitter for no reason and sending death threats, and that there's nothing more to it.

Where do you get your facts I got it from here. Is that information incorrect? Still, the function you described is more than I would say is reasonable. I honestly think what US taxpayers pay is absurd enough.

This is Sweden. Their culture is very different, and I'm not sure if it makes sense to put it here. They pay over 50% taxes on average, and they have tons of laws meant to protect and support women. It's a socialist feminist paradise. Just like we tag India posts with "eastern culture", I feel like we should tag Sweden with their own. They enjoy having the government control more than half their lives, and living under feminist rule. If that's what they want to do in their weird little country, …

Fellow eagle here. I'm actually a bit conflicted on this. The Girl Scouts in my town were pathetic. A n outing to them was sleeping in a tent on someone's front lawn. Meanwhile, at Boy Scouts I was given the incredible opportunities to actually be out in the wilderness and learn important skills. I thought it was absolutely unfair that the Girl Scout experience didn't even come close to cub scouts. I definitely think it would be a problem for there to be girls in Boy Scouts, but at the same time…

I'm not convinced that anyone has any fucking clue about the true rates. Depending on who you go to it's anywhere from ⅓ to 1/10, some say we're at all time low rates and others say it's a new epidemic. The only thing that everyone is saying is that they're sure their stats are right.

I heard a bunch of people complaining how the boyfriend who did the killing didn't get killed as well. This is the first article that mentions that he took a plea deal and she did not. Fuck journalism. And fuck especially Phillip DeFranco for specifically pointing out on his "news" show that he didn't get the death sentence and omitting that very important detail.

I have to say, I like this guy usually but I'm not so on board with this video. Pedophilia just means someone is attracted to children, which is a pretty unfortunate condition. If they keep to themselves and know that acting on it is wrong, they have as much right to live a good life as anyone. It's those that act on their fucked up attraction that can kill themselves. Saying someone should die due to something entirely out of their own control is just as "morally indefensible" as everything els…

It's weird reading this headline while currently at a tech that's 65% guys. Women may be getting the majority of degrees but men are still getting the majority of really valuable degrees. This is one of those issues that isn't good for either gender.

I mean they do kinda have authority in the sense that they are recognized as legit by government agencies and most of the general population that knows of them. Is a Guinness Book world record official? Well they aren't a government, but in general people have accepted them as the official record keepers for world records, so I'd say yes.

Haha that's true and that's why they were invented, but in the 1700s many men wore them for strictly fashion reasons. Obviously I wasn't referring to the practical ones.

I mean women couldn't wear pants without ridicule for a while too, so I'm not exactly expecting it to happen, especially any time soon. It just seems kinda arbitrary. Here's how I see it: Men's clothing is supposed to be practical right? Unlike high heels (which for a while were men's attire) skirts are actually very functional. Great range of motion, very comfortable, superior to just about anything in warm weather. I guess I'm just playing devil's advocate since I don't actually wear skirts re…

It's not really a thing even in Scotland. It's ultra formal wear, it's not like they wear them frequently. I'm probably in the minority but I think we should just get over it and make skirts unisex, no need to give them a fancy name or whatever.

It has it's positives and negatives. Yeah it's fairly straightforward and easy to dress yourself as a dude, but for the most part you look exactly like everyone else. Some guys that's still on the positive side of the T-chart, for others its a negative. Often times the "male uniform" for the occasion is less comfortable than the most comfortable female choice. Seriously if you're "man" enough spend a day in a dress. (Spoiler alert: its nice). Now imagine getting to wear that instead of a tux on …

Why compare it to a guy in a costume? The equivalent would be a guy in equally revealing clothes. Idk if you ask me which gender is more restricted when it comes to clothes I'd say men, but it's partially our fault since we haven't exactly tried to push the boundaries as a collective gender like women have.
/r/MensRights24/07/15 04:58 PM

Did you read the article? It's an animator who says that they are male, and it is noted that they often dress and act feminine. So they aren't asking "Why aren't any of them feminine?" but actually why they are male, according to the animator who I guess speaks for the entire crew.

I mean, men pay more for insurance since we're statistically worse drivers, so I guess it's not so terrible if they treat women differently if they are statistically worse parkers.

A lot of them were basically "I dated a loser and decided not to study. He was a douchebag." I really don't understand why it's his fault when you chose to be with him, he didn't tell you to stop studying, and you could have left at any time. That's your poor judgement. Blaming it on your gender is essentially saying you think that women have worse judgment at that age than men, which sound's pretty misogynistic.

Because we're mammals and we could survive with a gender ratio of 10 women for every man, but not the other way around. Makes are good for passing genes for individual families on, but women are more essential to the survival of our species and deep down in our brains we all know this. However, we still think it's wrong to be prednisone, to be violent, and to cheat despite essentially being bred to do it. It's just another thing that society needs to advance further over our natural instincts to…

Cis and human being aren't in any way mutually exclusive. Literally the only thing that is mutually exclusive to being cis is trans. Are you transgender? If so, cool. If not, your cis, and that's cool too. Are you lesbian, gay, or bisexual? If so, cool. If not, your straight and that's cool too. Its the same thing as the word straight. I really am failing to understand where any level of hate is being introduced. Its an non-derogatory adjective. All cis means is not trans. The only thing you can…

It's just like the words gay and straight. Just because straight is the overwhelming majority doesn't mean there can't be a word describing the condition of being not gay, aka straight. Its true, nearly all people are cis. That's the norm. Creating the word cisgender doesn't change that, it just describes the condition of not being trans. There is no redefinition of gender, and I don't understand how describing not trans people as cis is hate speech. I don't understand how it's remotely offensiv…

Which kinda makes sense. A lot of guys will put up with a bit of crazy to get into someone's pants. Or a lot. See: Meghan Trainor's expectations of her future husband. Most people think that song sets ridiculous expectations, but I'd still bet thousands of guys would line up for a chance to be her future husband. If you are gay, you have no reason to pretend to care about bullshit.

I realize, but why even mention it? It seems out of place and the title of your post is important. I still don't see what it adds to your argument. I never said I disagreed with your post. I'm just trying to offer some constructive criticism with how your presenting it. I know that you aren't defending pedos, so why use the government tightening it's policies on it to compare it to something that's bad?
/r/MensRights24/05/15 10:43 PM

Honestly, why the comparison? Bringing up harsher terms for pedos just makes it sound like you think it's a bad thing. I honestly think your argument would sound stronger if it just focused on what's wrong, and that's the second half of your point.

Tl; Dr its misleading. It doesn't compare people profession to profession, but just across the board. This times article has a bunch of sources in the section about the wage gap. You can refuse to give a certain style though. A tattoo artist for example is well within their rights to refuse to write "cum dump" on your forehead. Admitting that they won't do it without the mothers consent but would otherwise might be something, but it would be hard to prove.

...Only there are physical differences between boys and girls, that have been proven and are quite quantifiable. Not so much with mental differences. Boys and girls may benefit from different styles of teaching, but there isn't a 10-25% difference in intelligence based on gender like there is in physical strength between genders. You could make the argument that they took it too far, but if the standards are the same for both genders its harder for a girl to achieve the same rank as a guy. Note …

Then how can you call girls being graded at a lower standard "the real killer"?
/r/MensRights15/03/15 11:49 PM
-1

First of all, I've never heard of PE being graded on anything but effort. If your trying hard, but start out with an injury or are overweight, you will get a good grade. You will also show improvement on these tests, which might influence your grade. Fitness tests need to have different standards. We're not talking about being in combat situations. We're talking about the minimum mile time, number of push-ups, sit-ups, etc that one needs to score to measure as unhealthy, healthy, or very fit. It…

We're talking about PE class bro.
/r/MensRights15/03/15 09:53 PM

That makes some sense though. The only thing that doesn't make sense is that PE should be graded on effort, not physical ability. Guys and girls that try equally hard will end up with a ~20% discrepancy, so if you are just as fast as a similarly sized girl, your in significantly worse shape than her.

Personally I don't think feeling sorry for people in prison isn't wrong in and of itself. In English class sophomore year of high school we read the book "The Things They Carried" by Tim O'Brien. Its been a few years, but one of the main points the book makes is the difference between the "story truth" and what actually happened. Now this book has won awards, and is very popular, but this was one thing that really didn't sit right with me. I understand that most people here are pretty conservative, however I think the article linked about Fox news saying an ad campaign with a little boy with pink nails was transgender propaganda was a bit ridiculous. I just want to add that the reason is simple. Its perfectly acceptable when we relate these ideas to animals and insects and such, but people are just another animal. The movement has both left and right aspects, and so the terms can get blurry around here. We are right in that we appose the modern feminist movement, but left in that we typically are against restrictive gender roles, which promote many conservative policies like the draft.

I'm of the belief that it's not based primarily on biological differences. They are the seed that was planted and through the effects of society men and women have different roles, which today barely reflect their biological strengths. It's not that women can't work shitty jobs, it's that they for the most part can more easily avoid working them in society, and don't see a reason to change that. Women biologically could do most of those jobs just as well, it's just that nobody wants to do them.
/r/MensRights02/06/14 09:05 PM

In ww2 women filled many typically male jobs while the men were at war. I think if such a transition were to happen society would plan ahead enough for that. But I do think a lot of people don't realize that the most dangerous and least desirable jobs are overwhelmingly occupied by men. If I were a bigoted woman the last thing I'd want is the end of men, because theres a chance i would be forced to take on an undesirable job. I'm not trying to say people can't have a problem with it, I just think the reason a large group of people have a problem with it should be solved. I totally agree that you can't (nor should try to) police peoples thoughts. Telling someone not to think something doesn't work unless you are a dictator, and even then. You have to convince people. As an analogue, I'm sure you have no problem with being treated constantly as a potential pedophile/rapist, as long as its not the law making the call?
/r/MensRights29/05/14 04:33 PM

There's a difference between legal rights to do something and it being accepted by society. The law won't punish you for wearing a skirt. I will even do some to protect you. But you will indeed face social repercussions. You would probably lose your job. Your friends and family might not understand and hate you for it. When feminists talk about how women could finally wear pants, they were not talking about legal rights. They are talking about how respectful society is to it. As a guy, currently…

This is just like the edit Wikipedia day for feminists to bring their perspective. The problem is that science isn't the place for opinions getting in the way of facts. If you wouldn't be comfortable if a male wore it, then it's not a double standard against women. You have to keep in mind that the clothes she is talking about would probably be problematic if a guy wore, or wore a similarly revealing male garment.

I just want to say, as a 40 year old virgin on some random internet news website, that because I am so desperate for sex I believe that men as a whole are incapable of saying no and meaning it. I personally don't think it was very bad. There were a couple of things, like when she said there were valid reasons for someone to not trust all men. Absolutely. Look at health insurance vs car insurance. Its often just as costly for men to get health care than women due to anti-sexist laws, but the same is not true for men who have to pay more for car insurance.
/r/MensRights11/04/14 02:40 AM

I can see both sides. Men certainly cost the establishment more, so they pay more. Its like fat people taking two seats on a plane. As long as they are upfront about the policy and only make the difference as large as the average difference in gender food consumption, I don't see a big issue.

I'd like to add that most of us wouldn't say we blame feminism for our problems, we just don't think they've done shit to help, and have worsened some of our issues. Many men's issues date back to long before feminism, as well as women's issues, so citing feminism as the cause of gender inequalities doesn't make much sense. Ps, arguing with these types of people can often go nowhere. "The draft doesn't count as sexism. It just doesn't" rings through my head when I read your post.

I think the logic is that there is some societal pressures of gender roles, in which men don't really have the choice of living with the intent of one day being a stay at home. Gender roles exist, not to oppress women but to divide labor. I'm not exactly a fan of them either, but it's not like being a stay at home mom is equivalent to working for free. Someone, even if you are working, is going to have to invest the time in your child. If you stay at home to do it, you are avoiding having to pay…

I think freedom of expression is an area that guys are lacking in, at least in western cultures. Maybe nail polish isn't a huge political issue, but the read definitely felt worth my time. The fact that I'm still not brave enough to consider trying it says a lot about the rigidity of the male gender role, and thats a big part of mens rights. My $.02 anyways.

I actually hear that, and not from the crazies, but as a typical response. The reason men are made fun of for being feminine is because it's shameful to be a woman. Only, it clearly isn't shameful for a woman to be feminine, so that doesn't make so much sense.

Objectification is a funny thing. Everyone is constantly objectified for different reasons. When you go to work, you are there because your company uses you as a tool to make money. We all agreed that the un women campaign was ridiculous. Let's remember that google is not a census of people's opinions. IIRC, the reason I made this graphic is that I was a bit upset after seeing several anti-rape campaigns focused entirely at male perpetrators, and female victims. How to tell if someone will understand the movement: Do they not meet every aspect of masculinity, or at least have sympathy for those who don't? They might understand. Of course, and that's fine. There's nothing wrong with being proud of beating people who have a special advantage that you don't. The problems arise when people try to level the playing field giving a handicap to those with an advantage. The problem is that it's impossible to do perfectly fairly. And in a competition, you use everything you can to your advantage, including what god gave you. I submitted a gag report, and I admit it was not the best move, and I am sorry for doing it. It may have done bad things to men's rights, however it also did two good things: Got people talking about men's rights And now when someone reports rape through it they will have this in the back of their mind, and will take any report with a grain of salt. They said afterwords it is a survey, and not used as a way to report crime. I am all for surveys, and all for justice for rape victims, but you shou…

To be fair, I trusted the title that turned out to be false, which claimed that they would be investigated, and brought to justice over the anonymous form submission, which as it turns out, is a fabrication. I apologize now that I see the form was not as much of a which trial as it claimed. Edit: And my hope was not to spite the people submitted, but to make the point that anything said with total anonymity is just as likely fabricated as not, and cannot be taken as evidence of any sort.

Well I mean when women do economic jobs. I am not saying at all they do less work in general, I'm just saying they are less likely to do the dirty work because they are not expected to.

Biologic ability perhaps is a plus for some jobs, however its the societal expectation that men will fill these roles, and it is our duty, while women are more likely expected to do jobs for the benefit of themselves. Lets shelter kids from everything that could be harmful. Because that is what getting beaten up for no reason when you have no friends is. I'm still uneasy on this concept that soldiers lives are worth less than civilians. It really seems dehumanizing, and while I understand the logic behind it, and knowing how someone may end up on the front lines, I just think a soldier dying is just as bad as anyone else. I mean, people are people.

I have this theory based on anecdotal evidence, but it seems to hold true to a lot of things. The distribution graph for men on many fronts makes a "u" shape while for women it likely makes a "n" shape. This means while men are more likely at the very top, they are also at the very bottom, with women at a higher likelihood of falling somewhere in the middle. Actually, the fundamental idea of toxic masculinity aligns very well to most mra ideology. It's name suggests otherwise, and it has been misused by some feminists, but the idea is that men shouldn't be expected to, and punished for not perfectly conforming to masculinity. And that's a great idea to support, and certainly advances men's rights. Men should have rights as rape victims and fathers, and those are things that "toxic masculinity" make difficult. Exactly this. You have a right to say whatever you want, to the audience that will listen. They built that audience. If feminists want better examples in video games then instead of bitching about other people's games, make your own that are more of what you want. I guess it's that my parents had their gender roles a bit reversed, my mom being my families financial breadwinner, my dad being in a less travel intensive field being there for me more often as the nurturer. Both do just fine in their place, despite it being traditionally "unnatural" Also, I think my friends are quite weird in this respect, with some of my female friends taking on more male personality types, and male friends being more feminine(or at least not very masculine), that I don't see…

Alright I think we are in an argument where we both agree but we just are not reading each other right, because that's what I am saying. Nothing wrong with conforming, as long as you are okay with those who don't, or even don't in different ways than you, and vice versa.

Under the old gender roles in which you want to return to, if a man is raped do you just tell him "tough luck" because he does not conform, which is likely what would happen to him in the past? Does that not still leave men at a disadvantage in any time they willingly or not break the gender norm? I guess there are two separate problems: nonconforming men are at a disadvantage and some people do not respect them for not conforming to gender roles, and feminism had devalued the way society looks …

/r/MensRights23/09/13 05:38 AM

? I am saying you have an equal right to be 100% masculine and that should be defended the same as one who is not. I did not mean to insult masculinity, just trying to put in your head the idea of a perfectly manly man, a lumber jack, big beard, etc and that giving respect to those less manly does not in any way say his way of life is any less valid.

How can you tell if it's boys being feminized instead of boys being capable of deciding more for themselves that in the past would not be able to?

I agree, society needs people who fit the male gender role. But that does not make a man who does not conform to it inherently wrong, as those who I was referring to were. I will defend your right to be a masculine male in any way you desire, but I will equally defend your right to abandon whatever of that role you don't see fit yourself, whether that be your role as a parent or your self expression.

I think you are a bit confused, at the same time you say "a man should be able to choose what roles he wants to fulfill. Especially because most guys are some shade of gray" that directly apposes traditionalism, which would say that everything is black and white, men are men, women are women, and men need to fit the male gender role or else there is something wrong with them. What I, and most people here seem to believe is that you by all means should be able to fit the traditional gender role, …

Edited. Meant the primary care giver, so the role of financial provider is of men, and caregiver is of women, leading men who would rather be the caregiver role more than the provider role at a disadvantage, not saying one is less important than the other.

how so? How is it not back to two separate gender roles, both with the expectation to fit them being damaging: Men- Disposable, worth less, less pure, less individuality, etc Women- Too fragile, too innocent, etc Both hurting their own gender in different ways.

Yes, but you see a clearly male person walking down the street in a dress, and a clearly female person walking down the street in mens clothing, who gets judged more harshly on average, and who is thought of as wrong more often? Both should be equally fine, and equal to any other person walking on the same street, unless of course there is something else to differentiate the gender norm breaker from anyone else.
/r/MensRights23/09/13 02:06 AM

I just support you being able to freely make that choice. I don't think there's anything better or worse about matching up with a typical masculine man, or breaking that mold to better fit who you think you are. If you feel being Mr. Manly is for you and you need no liberation, I support you. If you want to be something else, go for that too.

I am not trying to debate feminism, but the fact is that there are gender roles for parenting and the male one does not involve being the primary care giver, I am not saying a financial provider is not as important, I am just saying that is the societal expectation of men, and what you just mentioned supports that.

I mean, its not like before feminism existed the average man had it that easy, and especially if he wanted to not fit into what society at the time decided was masculine. I am sure some fathers would wanted to be the nurturing parent, but could not due to the expectation to be the man, and work to provide for the family. Regardless, this is not even about feminism, its about how we, mens rights, see men who break gender roles.
/r/MensRights23/09/13 12:33 AM

I agree 100% with you. I have no interest in wearing a dress(symbolic of doing anything traditionally not masculine) but I think here at /r/mensrights we should be okay with men who want to and defend their right to do so, even if we have no interest, because fundamentally, that is what we are. A group of people who believe in the rights of men as babies, soldiers, workers, fathers, victims, falsely accused as well as guilty perpetrators, and in general people.

So, what is wrong with a lack of gender roles? Why does society need them, and why would it be unable to adapt to a homogeneity of the two roles? How does this conflict with things like father rights, which in the traditional rigid roles are practically non-existent. Do you think that gender roles are on their way to obsolescence, as now a woman can do anything a man can with few barriers, and at a slower rate, the reverse? What are some issues that men face that would be reduced with more rigid…

Based on this though, is there anything wrong with a woman who breaks them or a man? I think we are under agreement that there is not a problem with gender roles existing, and not a problem with people who fit into them, the disagreement is over supporting, or at the very least being okay with breaking gender roles.

well, I think you missed the point on that. I mean that its harder to get custody as a guy because men are the workers, the ones who provide money traditionally, while the mother is the parent who actually raises the kid. Being the parent who actually raises the kid breaks a gender norm.

well, they are two different categories. One is what you believe yourself to be and the others are what you are attracted to. You can be transgendered and gay, strait, bi, even asexual. Transgendered has nothing to do with attraction. Hypothetically you could be a transsexual zoophile, and yes, then there would be a problem. I don't want to participate in a lot of male expectations. I hope to be a good father, I hope that male rape victims will be taken seriously, and I hope a lot of other things that directly appose the mandatory nature of gender roles.

Just because the people in power are men does not mean they have mens best interest at heart in their decisions. At all. If that were true women would be the disposable sex. They are not. Edit: Possible misinterpretation. Not saying women should be disposable, only that men have been made more disposable despite men being in power, and that institutionalized sexism exists against men. Not that anyone should be disposable, or there should be any institutionalized prejudice based on gender.

Hey I am in that thread. I think the orgininal comment is misguided though, they are not actively trying to be hateful, it's that they want women to be able to do anything a man can do, and make sure everyone knows that they can do just about anything just as well. Here's what it comes down to: Throughout history, men and women have been restricted to their gender roles, which have indeed changed over time, but the idea of feminine value, beauty, etc in contrast to men being easily replaceable is always there. Having a feminist English or history teacher sucks, most of the time. Last year I had a old ass ultra liberal teacher, and I started out hating the course. I am actually happy and surprised he was financially compensated. I think her sentence is a tad light, but I believe almost all crimes are vastly over-sentenced, including the one he was accused of. If you put them on the same scale though, and have the crime he was accused of equal four years of prison then yes she got away easy.

My dads good friend spent twenty years in prison for changing a diaper. He could not get out because they still found him guilty on appeal, even though it is public knowledge that he is innocent. He just appealed too early, and the sensationalistic covering of it on the news lead to heightened public opinions and pressure on the judge not to let him go free. What really happened is he changed a diaper, and they asked the tiny kid if he ever felt uncomfortable, if he was ever told to get naked, a…

Most of us are "feminists." I made a post on /r/feminism a long time ago saying I was frustrated that the Girl Scouts did almost no scout like things compared to the boy scouts in my town. They told me, several times I am a feminist because I believe in equality. Well I still do, but I am here instead of there. By their own definition I'm a feminist, most of us are. We just don't like how people who identify as feminist typically go about things.

Not to mention there already is a ton more options for clothing for women. Sure a woman may get judged for wearing revealing clothes, but can you imagine a guy in equally revealing clothes? A woman can wear any length of clothing from just below the butt to below her ankle, and that's great, but there is no argument to say that women are restricted by their clothing options when you compare it to men.

This is why I tend not to like the words misandry and misogyny, just sexism. Sexism is about treatment, and one can impose sexism without realizing it, and without actually hating a gender. The self proclaimed feminists at my school who made fun of me after my (now ex) girlfriend told everyone how I was raped were sexist, but they did as they were taught, and if you as them they think men and women should be equal, even if they don't act out what they preach. I am aware. though, soccer is a bad example as almost anywhere with a womens team has a mens team, but with field hockey I have seen mocking of male tryouts as they are "just in it for the attention" or "perverts" for wanting to play the sport. Regardless of gender, you should be able to play any sport your school offers. If anyone wants to argue against that I have a hard time believing you are in it for gender equality.

Women were never historically oppressed by men? I mean, sure they were never forced to fight and die in wars, and rarely had the most dangerous and body destroying jobs, but they also didn't have any power either. I will say that the average man in most of history didn't live too much better than his wife, but come on, women have certainly been disadvantaged in some ways.

Of course, I speak out of generalities, but it is much easier to make a female character have a bond with the player, and have the player feel real emotions from what happens to her based on their actions.
/r/MensRights06/07/13 06:23 PM
8

One thing that is empowering to women about lots of video games is the way women are used in the plot. It's much more emotional when a female character is either killed or in danger, it's how things are in society. The way male characters are often used is to show the value in these female characters, fighting through big obstacles to save them, forcing them to make tough choices.

Also women are welcomed here, its a fine line between troll and hate, and just a closed minded opinion who spends a lot of time on the sub hating on those who disagree. Let me explain briefly the whole homosexual thing. It's similar to don't ask don't tell, but not even that far. You can be openly gay, just not open in scouts. The way I see it is that you can't be openly heterosexual in scouts, scouts is strictly non-sexual and they don't want it to be. Hmm... I am 16 and I though my thoughts were a bit of an anomaly. I actually thought it was much higher for girls than guys because of how they deal with gender sensitivity in class on the subject. Interesting.
/r/MensRights05/06/13 04:41 AM

Oh not this red pill blue pill shit. You should not have to look for ways that you are being discriminated against, you should fight against the ways that you know you are because they impact you.
/r/MensRights03/06/13 11:18 PM
2

Sigh. You don't have to support something, but you should not argue that it shouldn't have rights to exist and other things because you disagree.
/r/MensRights02/06/13 12:46 PM

And the men are totally potrayed as realistic as well, and never set unreasonable strength standards ore are shown as totally disposable. I honestly don't care about either, I think a game should show its characters how it wants, but its not just females in video games.
/r/MensRights31/05/13 11:34 PM

Not to mention they are publicly shaming Chris brown for beating Rihanna, and shaming the acceptance of abuse. It's pretty on track with what feminism should want.

iirc there is more to it than this. edit: Never mind, op linked them in the comments.

Although I agree with him, unless he can show that not all MGM is less severe then FGM with facts it won't do any good showing people with the opposite opinion.
/r/MensRights30/05/13 11:22 AM

That was a good way of telling it, but where did he get the scale of what is worse than what? I am on mobile so I can't see his sources, but I hope he did not just pull them out of nowhere.

It was nothing until she used the term sexual harassment. Dude could get fired for emoticons.

It makes sense, but its unfortunate. /r/Femdom turns me on in the right mood, everyone has a submissive side at times.

I get the matrix reference, but I can say they are sexist based on what I have seen, and they most certainly love calling people beta.
/r/MensRights26/05/13 08:31 PM

This is true, the red pill is a bunch of sexists who seem to enjoy calling everyone else beta and comparing everything to the matrix. It's kind of creepy.

And curves or shapes or whatever is a great thing, women should be able to if they want to go to an all female gym and if it is successful, great. Though men should be able to go to an all male golf club, gym, etc as well.

It happened to a friend, he got his phone taken away with unopened snapchats, and a girl seated him, unsolicited for the first time and he got a 3 day (I think) suspension and apparently a talk about objectifying women, child porn, etc.

Even though I am 16 I have similar stories. One was I was sent to the office for saying a kilometer isn't bigger than a mile right after I said a 10 degree temperature change in Celsius or Fahrenheit is not a 10% change in temperature, this was the worst example I have, and its from eighth grade. I hate the assumption that being young means you are wrong.

Because fewer women coming to a movie theater is a problem? you should pay for what you cost, not pay for yourself and for part of somebody you dont know or have any obligation to in any way. Lower price for females is a higher price for males, even if its not intended to be anti-male.
/r/MensRights15/05/13 12:22 AM

Exactly, it's stupid to say that men never have it better, but also stupid to say women never do.

I would buy it!
/r/MensRights14/05/13 11:24 PM

This. It's ridiculous in this day and age to even have a draft. Nobody wins if its for both sexes. To do that would arguably be worse than it is today, more people being allowed to be forced to fight. Making it for everyone is equality, but an equality where everyone loses.
/r/MensRights11/05/13 02:02 PM

True true, but it seems the real radicals are content with calling everyone else beta over at /r/theredpill. Maybe it's a matter of perspective, but my time at /r/feminism was full of arguing with people bashing masculinity and boys, for no good reason. Saying a guy cannot control themselves unless the emasculate themselves. A lot of stuff that just made me uncomfortable for being me. even if she sees it as a menacing dog... its a logo that is supposed to threatening to other teams, and promote rivalries between schools and active fans. Thats why you dont see any cute fairy princess mascots. You see bears, wildcats, lions, tigers, pirates, and vikings. They are easy to get behind, and symbolize strength. Something you want your school, and its teams to have.

Well, we like any subreddit are going to down vote comments we find hateful, but we don't systematically scan through all of reddit and downvote them, or block large volumes of people and prevent them from commenting on popular comments.
/r/MensRights25/04/13 01:24 PM
1

What I mean my the second one is that we totally get that there are issues that primarily effect women, but feminists get angry when mras try to say that issues like false accusations, child support, the draft, higher suicide rates effect men most, and often sexism against men can lead to those things, or sex preference towards women in certain situations.
/r/MensRights25/04/13 01:17 PM

We don't censor (protest feminist rallies), and we don't pretend that there are no issues that effect only women. I also like to think we are less hypocritical, but that's just an opinion.

What rule did they say you broke when they banned you? I know that any time I linked to a /r/feminism comment they were removed almost instantly, and they have strict policies. I am not a mod, but being that I see a ton of anti-mr comments I assumed we just didnt ban people for them. And yes, in /r/mensrights we generally downvote comments that disagree with us. But do we go all around reddit and do this? I just wish we got heard by public media and got to have our meetups without people screami…

Eh, I don't think so, but I could imagine why one wold think so. To me, MRAs don't censor, ban, and heavily control their forums, and generally dont shout down individuals. We dont have a catch phrase to hide behind, we dont simply support men being attacked for something they did simply for being men, or even MRAs (I think we all hate /r/theredpill) but feminists have quite a few accomplished writers defend the craziest of them all, we generally dont resort to name calling (shitlord, mangry, ci…

I can believe in the "radical idea that women are people too" as you say and not be a feminist. Also, I googled the words from the comic and linked to the direct image I found. /r/MensRights24/04/13 09:52 PM

Have you seen the posts there? All have the names blocked out and a number of them are totally fucking creepy and some rapey, meaning they specifically say they want to rape them. It's not perfect but its a pretty small issue.

Just wondering, do I have a tag based on your filters?
/r/MensRights23/04/13 11:40 PM

Yes, and gyms should be allowed to have women's only hours, and deduct those hours from the cost of male admission, or give them equal exclusive hours.
/r/MensRights23/04/13 11:39 PM
1

Okay, have your female only hours, all 400 something of them, great, no problem with that. Now, charge less for men, say its open 8 hours, and women's hours are around an hour a day, charge 7/8th the price for men, or, give the men mens only hours.
/r/MensRights23/04/13 11:36 PM

Shit. Okay take these tags with a grain of salt, I have been to and commented in /r/srs before I knew its real purpose mostly getting really pissed off at shit heads before being banned.

Yes, and like misandry, misogyny can occur globally too. In America as well as eastern countries. I think in places like iran and in the religious center of the world, feminism is still needed, but in places like the US no gender is really systematically oppressed, but neither should have to deal with double standards, and hate, anywhere. To some degree this is everywhere, and all peoples rights from any group are infringed globally because of their affiliation to some arbitrary group and its si…

There is such thing as too far though, and like cringepics there is nothing wrong with an anonymous place to share the worst of them. It's unfortunate that most of the posts there are creepy men, and that some use it to bash decent people, but most there are probably not out to be sexist.
/r/MensRights23/04/13 06:23 PM

Went to china and in class a fight broke out. The moderator (a student) took out a badass 4-5 inch black blade and that settled it. Had that been America it would be national news.
/r/MensRights22/04/13 10:33 PM
1

Well even at 2-8% that's still quite an issue
/r/MensRights22/04/13 09:33 PM
1

I guess it depends on where you are and the context. When I was an exchange student in china I referred to my only American friend as a slew of nigger faggot cunt bitch ass type words just because nobody there understood us, where as if I did that in the us it would be quite an issue.
/r/MensRights20/04/13 09:39 PM
1

I think its because you only call women cunts, so it is as if being a woman makes you a cunt, or a man could never be low enough to be a cunt. Just refer to them as a non gender specific insult.
/r/MensRights20/04/13 05:54 PM
3

exactly. any MRA who uses cunt just seems like a sexist and hurts our image because it makes us look like an angry group of women haters. Not sure how feminists get away with neckbeard or mansplaining, but we can be better than them. Also, fuck the amazing atheist, everyone hates him. Never take what he says seriously.
/r/MensRights20/04/13 01:40 PM
2

"...but the effect of misandry is simply hurt feelings" -some feminists No, this is fucking proof it isnt, and there is a ton more. I get the feeling that some feminists just like to ignore things that dont fit their world view and modify other things so they seem like they do more. Fucking sexism against both genders is everywhere and thats the problem. Of course I am an MRA so saying that is sexist.
/r/MensRights20/04/13 01:36 PM

I went to china as an exchange student. First amendment rules!
/r/MensRights18/04/13 11:13 AM

I have had a few teachers that favored girls, but nothing to scream bloody murder about. How do you feel your teacher is sexist? you need details to support any argument you are going to make.
/r/MensRights17/04/13 12:37 PM
2

Exactly, when has the MRM ever tried to silence feminists?
/r/MensRights17/04/13 12:33 PM

regardless of if its rational or fair, it gives us a shitty public image, and is ammunition to feminists. They see it as encouragement to rape them somehow, and to me we just dont need to do it. 99% of us just want equality, and if we hate things like that app that rates local men we shouldn't have a similar website to rate bigoted women.
/r/MensRights17/04/13 12:28 PM

but two in three are female so why are we even concerned with the minority? /s

/r/MensRights15/04/13 12:18 PM

I see a lot of women only things. Its like, they fight male privilege with female counterprivilege, but in totally different areas and instead of making things more equal they keep the same pissed women because the never actually destroy male privilege, and then they have a bunch of angry men pissed that in many cases there is female privilege. Its just stupid.
/r/MensRights15/04/13 11:58 AM
21

Funny how much women say advertisements and things dont depict women as "real" and set unreasonable standards. I think this is a humanity problem, as are many feminist issues. We are a lot more similar to feminism than either group wants to acknowledge.
/r/MensRights15/04/13 11:48 AM

I remember the day I found out through google images... Never trusted my parents the same way again. In all serious though, I feel like I am going to miss out because of it. Oh we'll beat I can do is protect my kid.

Yeah screw ending cancer, a bit of Misandry is worse! To me it's stupid that they exclude men, but at least they are fighting cancer, so any money that goes to them is good money.

/r/MensRights12/04/13 11:28 AM

/r/MensRights10/04/13 04:07 PM

We dont care about your gender. We care that your shoving it in our face and you think you are a snowflake because of it. Go ahead and be women bounty hunters, just don't be so self-riotous about it. Also, this is more justice than rage, i am glad they got what was coming to them, hopefully the blind dude wins.

we need to make you a bot
/r/MensRights07/04/13 12:21 AM

This seems a bit drastic, they produce thousands of articles, and this seemed to be a bit sexist, but hardly. It's saying that women's life expectancy is not growing at the rate of men's, and this is the problem, not that men are living longer. It was written in a dumb way, but hating a generally great educational source for this is just silly and counterproductive
/r/MensRights04/04/13 03:23 PM

Not to mention this is not how biology works, or chromosomes, and I think it might be a troll or a joke or something.
/r/MensRights03/04/13 06:50 PM

Oh I know not every girl is my ex, I just found it shocking and matched your description.
/r/MensRights01/04/13 11:57 PM

as someone whose ex girlfriend who told him she would cut herself because of our break up, as a threat, I feel like this may be true.
/r/MensRights01/04/13 11:53 PM
7

He is saying they do everywhere, not just some places. I personally see the playing field in American as pretty damn level, so do my friends and parents. Women are not oppressed in the us, neither are men, but there are double standards both genders should make end, like courtroom fairness for men and rape related issues for women.
/r/MensRights01/04/13 10:10 AM
5

Dude, this went full circle, I saw it here submitted to rage and now it's back here. Woah.
/r/MensRights01/04/13 04:19 AM

There are feminists, probably like yourself who fight for equality, and then there are those that I am sure you have seen rant about how masculinity is causing all men to become rapists and murderers, leaving society with the implications that all rapists, murderers, and bad people are men, leading to men not being viewed as good parents, as sexually crazed beasts, and less "holy" than women.
/r/MensRights30/03/13 08:51 PM

In all fairness some of that was directly insulting to men.

I recently had a health class where the boys and girls split up. Dudes talked about why rape is wrong and no means no, girls were taught how to defend themselves against a rapist. We also were asked to promise the teacher we would not be rapists. sigh.

Is there much male rape in india? I have never heard about it so I have no idea. I think the laws, and the story were sexist, but so were the men in congress or whatever. We as a global community need to just fight rape and gender inequality and not each other's genders.

Ehhhhh, look, there is some truth, at least in my eyes to the victim blaming feminist argument. Hear me out. No matter how naked, provocative, drunk, or high you are, or stupid, it does not make rape any less of a crime, or more acceptable. I can understand slightly less harsh consequences if both parties involved were out of their minds by some substance, but your instinct upon seeing a wasted girl or boy should be to help get them out of a dangerous situation, whether it be alcohol poisoning, …

I didnt realize we were that big, like, I had never heard of it a few months ago, I only found out on an article saying why reddit is not perfect and how there are neo nazis, racists, and even cited this subreddit as hateful. I went here and found most of it reasonable and stayed, but my feminist friends have never heard of the entire movement

I dont get it, these women choose to be porn stars. Is this not what feminism embodies? I think if someone wants to be a porn star and can freely and will not be forced to do anything there is no oppression. Also, a lot of feminism is all women are beautiful in their own way. I don't get how this is not hypocrisy. Also, WTF massive internet censorship in Europe? I am in China and I thought everyone was against this shit.

I am a casual reader (and poster) to /r/confession, and I am disappointed. Usually the community is very supportive. I have gotten a person saying I helped them not commit suicide, and seen dozens of other similar posts. Do you mind linking me to it? I kind of want to see what happened. I am going to guess mob mentality, one person has an opinion, gets a few upvotes, and that becomes everyone's opinion. Really sorry this happened.

This was the top article when I went, not crazy, in fact I find it similar to the articles I see here. This link had an interesting disscussion, though as a guy I would disagree with all of the other guys in the room. (note the comments, from feminists revealed the study was from 1977, outdated, but shows improvement in gender equality). this post also brings up good points, no crazy to gawk at here

reading /r/feminism i don't exactly agree, there are many legitimate posts. Just like here. /r/shitredditsays * is not exactly typical feminism.

The thing is there are real issues feminism exists for, and should exist for. Theres a lot of hateful ironic bullshit, but feminism has a purpose. There are ultra conservative politicians who don't want women to have full rights. Hopefully bullshit feminism will be gone within the decade.

Sexism, racism, and shit like that everywhere. All we read in english is how white people are bad and in health we had a class that included how women are biologically smarter. I am just a stupid white male asshole so how should I know?

I googled, is that supposed to be negative? I think I support ending mistreatment and inequal rights of women, and making sure men are treated with the same respect and rights of women at the same time. I guess I am a feminist, MRA, and an egalitarian.

Me and my girlfriend happily sext, but we are smart(ish) with our privacy. Just know and have trust in who you are sexting and we go through snapchat not for the instant deletion (I am jailbroken and you have to be stupid to believe you cant save shit) but because it isnt easily accessed through snooping parents. The reason teens are not allowed to do this is because a total fucktard snaps a nude to her scumbag boyfriend of three days who is a self proclaimed hacker and manages to save the pictu…

I am new here, so I am just wondering how gender plays a role in this, it seems the article focuses more on her age, and I think its a unjustly short sentence, but I dont see her as a threat to society so its not of my utmost concern that she will see freedom again.
