This is why I despise trafficking. It's a criminal economic activity that puts a price on the innocence of boys and girls. The boy who said he didn't feel abused is clearly exhibiting cognitive dissonance.

While I agree that the onslaught of endocrine disrupting chemicals is atrocious, and I agree with almost all the points, I don't think that there is "sexual oppression" of men. I oppose adultery/fornication/pornography, but those things can be freely engaged in by those who choose.

She said her plan will eliminate "male disposability" by increasing the relative reproductive value of men. I put that phrase in quotes because I believe the MRM coined it. I'm curious as to why a self identified feminist would use the term in such a manifesto. Perhaps she's a troll...

I have no idea what this tweeter meant, I'm too lazy to follow her feed to figure out her exact ideology. Just judging from what I've read, is she a left wing radfem who wants to dismantle structures other than patriarchy? You know, capitalism, cisheteronormativity, the old stuff.

Not to be anti-intellectual, but I'm shocked at how there are any smart public intellectuals that engage in apologia for pedophilia. I have no idea if such a thought-crime should be grounds for being "cancelled", but I think it's safe to say he should be kept away from kids. *Edit: Misspelled "thought-crime"

It's a fair question, and it ties into the predominance of male violence over female violence. That predominance is especially undisputed in the type of violence that leaves bodies. I think most of the replies were well-thought, though this is a reddit thread not research literature.

I'm glad you asked. If you think it helps, then browse it. I can't tell you the exact nature of a sub I occasionally browse, but it's basically a platform/ideology that stems directly from feminism. The phrase "men's liberation" refers to the movement stemming from feminism in the 70's. Warren Farrell was part of it, but he's now an MRA. I cannot attest to the idea that crying more often and eschewing "toxic masculinity" will solve my problems and solve society's problems. r/Menslib does spend a…

Oh you're saying that there's a cultural stigma on single father's that's strong enough to discourage surrogate volunteers from gestating the baby of an intentional single father. Your reasoning for finding a surrogate is very similar to many women who choose to be single mothers via sperm donation. I do hope that you run into a nice lady. But anyway it's up to you.

We've all seen headlines of adolescents, and even young teenagers commiting sex offences of an adult nature. The culpability of a youthful offender would go down with age Juvenile sex offences is a lurid topic that should be only informed by the most knowledgeable experts on the topic. The article mentioned that the victim status of some of the girls has been revealed without their consent. To say that this is ridiculous and hurtful is an understatement. What they should've done is, bring statistics to the screen/podium, and contextualize it to the audience (1 in X of you will become or have become a victim, 1 in Y will be a perpetrator... this is real issue yada yada). There probably isn't gender symmetry in the exact type/prevalence/frequency/setting of sexual violence/haras…

I haven't come to an exact conclusion on this matter, but I basically agree with you, especially on the historical point of doctors being traditionally men, and the ongoing problem of misperceptions of female pain (exacerbated by race, obesity, ...) Men's health and Women's health are different biologically of course; naturally they both have medical disciplines dedicated to them. An analysis of the gender disparity should compare each sex's health metrics to its own potential, rather than the o…

One more reason to cancel Cardii B. , besides her not so family friendly music, that is. But in all seriousness, we can't expect the court of popular opinion to justly indict and acquit celebrities of their public sins. So far I'm aware of two famous women who have publicly admitted to rape, namely Cardi B and Riley Reid.

in Australia there's a drug trial where the aim is to lower the aggression in men who abuse That's incredibly fascinating! Do you mind saying the name of the drug, and the drug company? Some feminists (unlike the ones you mention) believe in perpetrator focus, and I also believe in perpetrator focus, as long as it's focused on perpetrators (not innocent people being profiled), and the focus catches all sorts of perpetrators (men and women for instance).

Biological determinants of political affiliation simply mean that, for anyone who wants to start a change (a liberal) or stop a change (a conservative/reactionary), they're going to have to convince a broad swath of the population that their standpoint is right. Personalities are (mostly) immutable. Moral and political values are not. You can find a conservative/liberal spin to any viewpoint, regardless of how it's typically portrayed. As male advocates, we have to show that our proposals for ch…

There are differing strands of Feminism/Liberalism, some of which are more consistent/sensible than others. The article that is screenshotted here is an okay opinion piece (mind the paywall) written by Olivia Utley. It's well written affirmation of the obvious, that women as a group are weaker and slower than men, and are thus more vulnerable to predators/violent people, especially male predators and violent men. This difference in strength is blindingly obvious to previous generations, but in "…

I hope that perp gets caught before he causes further damage. I also hope you don't still have that phobia you mentioned. Tell your mom that you feel as if the messaging she's putting out is placing predatory behavior as a male default that needs to be corrected. I can't get to the article, but one thing you've quoted is extremely telling. You said "if women had the power they'd be doing the same", and I agree with the gist of that. Clearly, for one reason or another, men in agricultural societies have until recently had a lot of power collectively, or at the apex (look up apex fallacy MRA). Women are more likely to fall victim to rape-murder, which is what many presume happened to Sarah Everard. Gender symmetry in rape/sexual assault is a common belief among many MRA's. I haven't done all my research, but one thing to note is that sexual assault studies that conclude gender symmetry in victimization/perpetration use different methodologies/definitions. Interesting point. I'm not exactly traditionalist when it comes to gender roles, but I guess I am when it comes the "sanctity of marriage". The main sign of decline of "family" (at least both parents, grandparents are welcome) is the number of people going to family court. Rhetorically I won't blame the family court here (it does have problems) but if you are (conservative?) then you should definitely look at the personal factors/social values that lead to divorces and custody disputes. This is why first day hook-ups are not a good idea if you don't want to run across someone who wants to wreck their marriage. I don't exactly see this as men's rights issue, but these sorts of "father conflicts" (biological father vs partner of the mother) are quite heart-breaking and should be avoided at all costs.

I'm going to leave a dry answer so as to overcome my knee-jerk reaction. Why do rapists rape is a difficult enough question to answer. The other commenters are upset with a culture that sees the gendered nature of rape as being one of male perpetration. The spectrum of male rape as the norm is based more on perception and definition setting than the actual reality of a place and time. The gender split may be 100-0 (when the law codifies a definition that states only men can rape). It may be 99-1…

I don't live in India, but one fact I've restated many times on this subreddit is the fact that the rape laws there are not gender neutral. This is the case in many countries tho, including ones that are thought of as western or progressive. Remark: I have yet to see someone compile a map on the issue of gender neutral rape laws. This would be an incredibly useful marker of progress.
/r/MensRights04/03/21 06:49 PM

You have a point that in those countries, women's rights are lacking, in law and in practice. That being said, women's rights activists in India have spoken against gender neutral rape laws out of the fear of men flipping accusations of rape leveled at them by women. Also some of it is just the old belief that women can't rape men, which of course persists in the West.

Not exactly an answer, but beating a spouse or a significant other is now called intimate partner Violence (IPV for short), since the term domestic Violence could refer to abusing a parent, elder, sibling, or child. "Battered husband" is not too bad. "IPV victim" would be the gender neutral. If we want to go broader than physical Violence, then "abuse victim" is fine within a specific context. Getting distracted is a personal issue, not a men's rights issue. Dress code should rule out offensive graphics, and partial nudity (blatant immodesty is distracting to all students, not just conservatives), and safety (no open toed shoes in crowded schools, no gang affiliation symbols) It's pretty obvious that dress codes hit girls harder, in that girls are reprimanded for it more often. I do not support a onerous, body shaming, racist, or sexist enforcing of a dress code.

I was under the impression that there were other indirect factors involved. Do you have any studies that try to factor out female gender as an advantage as opposed to high GPA, extracurriculars, and high test scores? In a vague sense, yes. People can be blamed for today's issues, and a lot of those people were men. Im not of the belief that anybody but a small handful of female/male individuals literally conspired to make past issues entrenched/ignored for men. Female doctors predominate the younger cohorts. Janitors are 50/50. Edit:one sample of jobs by gender breakdown /u/prelude12342000 's comment is kind of rude. Nobody is actively forcing men and women into these jobs. The vast majority of men work relatively comfy jobs compared to the few who work manual/uncomfortable jobs. As a registered libertarian and professional major parties hater, I'll simply comment that there is no meritocratic method for picking the president, or for a presidential candidate to pick a running mate. Now, I do vaguely recall Biden being intent on or being compelled to pick a female running mate. I've never heard of any evidence that Kamala Harris was picked because of her race.

Intelligence is a nice gift, and it can feel to be a big disappointment when ones academic achievements lag behind ones expectations. I hope you graduate high school, and that you can test your mettle on the most challenging subjects your school can offer. Misandristic grading does exist, as per the stats you may have seen displayed here on r/mensrights. While I cannot rule that out, all of that becomes less likely when your schoolwork is automatically graded, your grades are available, and when…

I'm a man, and I respect male feminists. Most male feminists aren't sabotaging other men in family court, or failing to acknowledge male victims of violence. If they wish to systematize their understanding of gendered abuse as per the dominant gender movement (feminism), why should I judge them? I think people who accuse all male feminists of feigning their beliefs to get women are quite silly, it's at the same level as calling female feminists unattractive to men. Are female MRA's simps for men…

I don't know your parents personally, but them being older they probably have seen most gender progress being championed by feminists. I can't exactly say it was MRA's who brought about the changes of the 20th century. Anyway, it's important to clarify your beliefs with your parents briefly so that they don't think you're a bumpkin and make wrong assumptions about you. Tell them about what makes MRAs different from other reactionaries. Bring up concrete failures and prejudices in feminist rhetor…

Fight the good fight. Do stuff that helps out women. A gendered perspective doesn't (usually) hurt. Prison rape is a gendered issue (women inmates suffer higher rates of it, both from other inmates and from male guards). I bring this up first since it's something that you might not have heard of before, not because I think you're ignorant, but because the mainstream media/populace isn't aware of it. A lot of people think it's just a men's issue. There's very little point in arguing your larger q…

I'm pretty sure that this is a 💩post. That being said, everyone deserves to be satirized, so bravo. On a sincere note, I do not think that the phenomenon of prostitution as a whole oppresses men. I don't think any MRA is preoccupied by the non-systemic issue of prostitutes robbing clients. There was a bit of buzz a little while back over what Cardio B. said she would do to her male clients (drug and rob), but that's pretty much it.

I'm sorry to hear that you've experienced bullying for most of your childhood. I hope that you can manage to stay with the same therapist. I'm guessing that the therapist had various preconceptions and prejudices that led them to assume that you're some sort of reactionary who doesn't care about or has forgotten about women's issues. I don't know what it's like to attend therapy while being autistic, but I hope all your future conversations are clear. All that being said, you should avoid media …

It's very strange to see a sex offender (Gray) do such a thing. She had a plank in her eye and and tried to plant one on someone else. A bad mix of projection, false accusations, and hypocrisy.

I'm sorry if I'm not adding much here, but I'd personally find prostitution to be quite ridiculous. That being said, I do acknowledge that this moral bias of mine makes it harder for me to sympathize with either sex workers or sex patrons.

Some people spout nature/nurture opinions based on whatever supports their bias in a particular conversation. Some MRA do this unfortunately. As you make up your own mind, I suggest keeping an open mind when it comes to figuring out the nature of bio-social gender differences. I personally am for "family values" (a sullied concept), where I think there ought not be separation of competent and healthy parents when a child isn't weaned. Not as matter of a law, but that's just my social ideal. It's…

Adolescent males should follow this rule, since they've gone through puberty and will have a large gender strength advantage until they become senile. That being said, emphasizing the unacceptability of unwarranted violence regardless of size, gender, ability, occupation, emotional state is important for both boys and girls. They should also be taught practical advice for both emotional restraint and self defense.

It brings up an interesting point about how one organization founded by WIERD WASP men has become the defining alcohol recovery organization of North America. (WIERD and WASP are acronyms that typify the dominant social group of the American elite, I forgot what exactly they stand for). I take no issue with the heuristic that says organizations are shaped by the worldviews of their founders. It's a bad article because it reads more like a blog post than a serious article. It's very important. I must admit that a good proportion of the MRM is concerned more about subsets of men rather than groups of marginalized people in general. Feminism has become decidedly more intersectional over the years. Intersectionality means different things to different people, but I will typify as a feminist coinage/concept that is best exemplified by this amazing website You will find mention of queer mens issues from time to time. Anti-MRM is interesting, because they turn a rather tinted mirror up to the demands of the MRM. I'll come back here and edit my comment once I read their whole website, but this group seems to suggest that despite the statistical predominance of sole mother custody, the court is biased against mothers and often places children with fathers. The basic synthesis of their mission is, women are more primary caregivers, and should be given custody more often, that is to say they oppose default joint …

Blind Ideology often stems from seething rage. Try reading up on other issues, and see how mens rights issues can be cast into more popular causes (mass incarceration, male gender roles, homophobia, the educational achievement gap, family values, divorce, shared custody employment, workplace safety). For mass incarceration you can bring up intersectionality, and how the male-female disparity is worse than the black-white disparity.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that all mens rights issues stem from feminism. Im not an anthropologist, so I can't provide an ultimate origin story for gender roles. I'll use the term patriarchy, because I hold the uncontroversial opinion that the leaders and esteemed elders of past societies we're almost always men, and many feminists believe male issues stem from patriarchy. MRA's do have terms that roughly mirror "patriarchy", such as matriarchy, [gynocentrism](https://avoiceformen.com/featu…

I find the idea ridiculous. Heterosexual men and women have been getting married since Adam and Eve. The benefits of a good marriage merit the risk of a divorce IMO. That being said, choosing to be indefinitely single is far more noble than whatever those incel people doing.

I cannot, but there are two gaps in American law that MRA's and feminists need to plug up. I know this isn't strictly related to your question of male privelege, but there are some symmetric gender issues that require a legislative reform. Child marriage is still legal in many states. This seems to be an issue that primarily affects young girls being handed to old men, from what I see in the media. Rapists in many states can get custody of their victim's child. Some states have laws to specifica…

I can't cite this is the top of my hand, but there was similar opposition to making rape law in India gender neutral. I'm not exactly sure what these activists are afraid of. Someone who's accused of rape cannot credibly flip the accusation back onto the victim. Besides, the vast majority of female rapists utilize intoxicants or an age gap, both of which are easy to establish in a court case. I find it real sad that there are activists who feel threatened by rights afforded to other groups. Remi…

Did that speaker (or the one for the girls) ever brought up what to do as a teenage child under a violent father? If not, it's sad that the organization who organized the school assembly had such a glaring gap. If you don't recall who they were, you should call your old high school to see if they still have the same kind of assemblies and through which organization.

This article (inadvertently) gives credence to the idea that criminal justice should be restorative for all inmates, by leveraging the sympathy readers have for women, including women prisoners. The article is unduly sympathetic, in that it provides an excuse for the anonymous inmate who slept with a 15 year old boy (She came out of an abusive marriage).

I dislike Paul Elam's attempt at satire, since there are a few cracks in his satirical tone that belie spite and nonchivalry towards women. Given what we know about reciprocal intimate partner violence and the strength difference between men and women, we should stick to the old value that a grown man should not ever hit a woman, even in retaliation. If a man is in fear of his female partner, he ought to flee and break ties. Of course I do not condone the Jezebel article, as it seems to condone …

That's hard to hear. I grew up in a very different situation, so while I can't exactly relate to you (I won't give details) I understand the jealousy towards other children's father's. I have no advice other than to get good advice (from a professional, not someone on the internet), and to not contact your father until you are fully mentally grown and willing to do so. It's possible that he may not repent, but it's also possible that he one day will ask for forgiveness.

This whole situation sucks. I'm shocked to read that my home country (won't say which one) has not signed the hague convention.
