I am working on a change in my career, including leaving my soul sucking job. I bought a spin bike to improve the health of my joints, and got weights and a nice yoga mat. I found that yoga really helps my joint issues and I'm enjoying every minute. Also, I finally started reading all the books I have purchased in the past year, since I've had a long reading slump and I have been just re-reading older books from my collection. Also, I got a cat :)

I've seen this post on main, and immediately knew what kind of comments I'm going to see. Why is it so hard to understand? Yay, I'm proud of you! It's so fun to see your own work turning your personal space into something that feels like home. I recently moved to a new apartment and I had to assemble most of the furniture alone, and it was amazing seeing everything finished and in its place. I assembled a table that can a part of it can be pulled out so the table turns bigger, all by myself! I also unclogged the kitchen sink all by myself!

Oh my god this made me gag. I just moved in to a new place and the shower was pretty gross (not this level, just the tiles were moldy). This makes me think of my little brother - has zero life skills - can't clean a house, do laundry, cook anything for himself, can't fix anything, not even change a lightbulb. He was definitely not abused, he was (is) just spoiled by our mother. While me and my sister surprisingly "have" those life skills. I remember reading it in early highschool, I found the book charming and romantic. Now in my late twenties, I know better.. I also thought recently about The Thorn Birds, and how I loved reading it and thought the story was so beautiful and sad. Now when I think about it - Ralph was 27 (30 maybe?) when he met Maggie, and she was 9. He was her mentor, and they ended up together. Literally 27 against 9 years old. That's awful. And disgusting.

I have looked into it, my joints are very flexible and I am often in pain, but that is the least of my problems and I am currently looking for answers to what affects most my quality of life. I don't want to overwhelm the doctors, as soon as they see more complaints, they immediately go to the "ahh I see, a woman with multiple problems...I diagnose hypochondria!"

I just finished reading this book for the second time (and gave it to a co-worker to read, hope I'll see it back...), and that other comment made me want to read Gone girl again. This also really hits close to home because I have a ton of undiagnosed chronic issues, and I have had (mostly male) doctors dismiss me and tell me that those issues are caused by anxiety and that young women tend to make themselves believe that they have medical issues...

Unfortunately I have close familiarity with this. I have a few chronic conditions, some of them are undiagnosed for years for these reasons. A (male) doctor I've been to told me that "sometimes young women make themselves think that they have a problem and this actually makes them believe that the problem exists". And a few more were quick to blame my problems on anxiety without even trying to check what's wrong. And let's not even start talk about experiences with male gynos...
