The problem is that if you have one set of rules for your child (example: no soda in the house) and your partner has another for their child (we always have Coca Cola in our fridge) then one of you are going to have to compromise on whatever discipline you have set forth for your child. Otherwise you have two children living in the same house with two different sets of rules, which is insanity.
