Am not saying the sex necessarily comes before happiness and self-confidence. Just that it can contribute to it. But if someone is a hollow shell the sex will not last. Women are on average more intuitive than men. Often they will detect any inner loss of self-confidence even before you recognise yourself.

Philosophically speaking one could think this. But, scientifically speaking, the facts are that sex literally makes you happier: https://www.sciencealert.com/here-s-what-happens-to-your-brain-when-you-orgasm https://www.webmd.com/sex-relationships/news/20131125/how-the-love-hormone-works-its-magic#1 Or to put it another way: the more you get laid, the more women are attracted to you, because basically you’re radiating happiness. 😀

He should chase excellence. Always. But still he need to learn how to approach women. Even with excellence, women still expect you to know how to walk in the door. They will open if for you, but you can't be stumbling in. You have to know how to hold yourself and engage them.

Yes you should always focus on yourself. But to take the professional athlete analogy, you need to go down to the lower leagues and work on your game. Spend some time going for the ones that you think are a "6" or a "7" and learn what works and what doesn't. This will build up your knowledge and confidence. Then move up to the "9" or "10" when you understand yourself and the women better.

By all means, DO chat up women in coffee shops as much as possible. But it would be more considerate to leave off the staff and stick to fellow customers.

“…..She responded with aww that’s sweet but I have a partner….” The chances are she doesn’t have a partner and it’s a line she used to let customers down easy when they cross the line. People working in a coffee shop are trained to be friendly and open so that you will keep going back to sane place. This can be mistaken for attraction or possibility.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
