Not sure about Tokyo (which is a world in itself and where most foreigners would get their experience from), but in my own experience living in Japan, it's more pro traditionalism. 1	Liberal feminist professors are decidedly illiberal with students whose opinion differs from theirs. You also can't just blindly trust some paper, even if it was peer reviewed. If you want to cite a source (in an actual academic context), you have to be sure that you understand the source, how the conclusion of the source was formed from the premise and the data, and you should also try to find papers that disagree with your source (and if there are any, see how they reached their conclusions). Because death sentence is the solution! implying being dead isn't a life changing thing Sure, some people might never recover from the trauma that comes with being raped, but many (if not most) will be able to deal with it sooner or later, and go on to live a somewhat normal life. They wouldn't be able to do that if they get killed, so for the majority, death is worse than rape.
