After 6 years of no intimacy, you probably resent the hell out of her and any effort to reconcile will be very difficult. So will divorce. I chose the latter and don't regret it, but it is not an easy process (still in it). After my wife refused counseling, I knew it was over.

Different perspective here: This is probably for the best. It would be far worse if she stayed and had children with this guy, because she would have left in 5, 10, 15 years or whatever and ripped this guys' kids from him and left him in far worse financial straights. They've been married for a year and are young. Maybe she legitimately made a mistake. In any case, he's better off without her.

I lived this way longer than I care to admit. It was incredibly unhealthy for me and didn't do the children any favors. Although they were upset when we told them I was leaving, it's important to show them boundaries too. They know the marriage isn't happy. My wife is actively trying to guilt and manipulate me because it worked so well for 30 years. No more. While I am heartbroken for the children, I choose me for damn near the first time. No one is perfect and there is always blame to go around, but it ok to choose happiness - or at least its possibility.

It's hard, but I have not told them what a crazy bitch their mom is. She, however, has done everything under the sun to triangulate and demean me (with little of it being true). I figure (or at least hope) that, in time, they will understand.

But when the wife says "no" to even trying counseling, that's a pretty good indicator too.

I'm all for supporting the guys here, but OP was on a 2 day coke and stalking bender. I am going to leave a little room for maybe the ex isn't the problem here.

Agree, talk to a therapist just as someone you can unload with. And join a martial art or gym club or something to be around other men.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
