Well, during my drinking phase there was a couple of times I sat on the edge of my bed with tears in my eyes, gun in one hand, bullets in the other. I began having panic attacks and I'd cry for hours. I didn't go to work for 4 months. And I was the one who left her. But slowly everything began to sort itself out. My relationship with my daughter is stronger than before, the panic attacks slipped away, I quit drinking 15 months ago and I run 6km a day every day. It's been 3 years and I'm almost 1…

Exactly, at least your not drinking. I can tell you from experience, drinking yourself to death takes longer and is more painful than you'd think. Listen, you're literally going through the valley of the shadow of death, the friends you thought you had seemed to have abandoned you, you're loneliness is a scream in the night. But...the waves will subside, your ship will right itself and you'll once again be on your course. Be patient. It may take a couple of years but you'll heal. I promise.

I got panic attacks for a couple of months but they went away. Never had them before or since but they were fucking terrifying. Don't drink no matter how you feel, it'll make them worse.

Text. I told her to to go fuck herself after 5 years of silent treatment. The only time she talked to me was by text and that was almost always to tell me why I wasn't good enough for her.

I had my daughter at 46. She's 7 now. I'm glad I waited. I'm 54 and my old age is absolutely filled with love, hugs and kisses. You'll get there.

Yep, every pic that didn't have our daughter in it. Good fucking riddance.

Grey rock is absolutely essential no matter how upset and angry you are. You can easily say something that she can use in court against you. Also, shut up around shared friends. They'll tell her everything.

My daughter's 7 and she's absolutely not allowed. Holy shit, you're asking for your kid to get molested.

Mine gave me the silent treatment for 5 years before I left her. I don't miss a damn thing.

I had a few friends but none could understand the immense pain I was in. I felt completely alone and abandoned. They were there just not in the way I needed them.

Don't over stress it. I share a large 1 bedroom with my 7 year old daughter. I'm paying $1700 and a two bedroom in my shitty old complex is $3200. I simply can't afford it. For now it's fine and it makes her feel safe to be with me. However when the time comes I'm putting a Murphy bed in the living room and she can have the bedroom.

I understimated how much I would miss my daughter even though we have pretty much 50/50 through the week. Sometimes I think I should have just shut the fuck up and gone to the massage parlour once a week.

I'm Canadian but had some trouble in the States ages ago that I needed to deal with so I could take my family to Disneyland. I ended up in jail for a few days while sorting it out. My wife (since left her) tells my aunt I deserve to sit there and rot. When I finally came home she didn't even look up from the phone and said, "Oh, you're home " I went to the couch and cried. The trips to Iceland, Ireland, upcoming to Disneyland, nothing I did meant a thing to her. I was just an ATM mounted to inco…

The stress of the divorce coupled with the lawsuit against my FIL after he defrauded me half a million dollars with my ex's help, and my heavy drinking almost killed me. I had aggressive cardiac arrhythmia I lost the ability to climb up a flight of stairs without losing my breath. It was terrifying. But slowly I began to walk the 6km to and from work. I did this every day. I then quit drinking booze and coffee last December and the walking turned into running. My heart issues disappeared, my car…

I wrote a 100 page detailing why I left my ex. I plan on giving it to her when she's 13 or so. If it's too hard to talk about it maybe write it out?

Can you alternate Christmas evenings? This year we had Christmas breakfast on the 24th with my family, while she had Christmas dinner with her mom's on the 25. It worked out great.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
