Yes, you are correct. The thing that makes someone attractive to others is self-actualization. In very general terms, that means figuring out what you are all about, developing a strong concept of self and realizing your full potential. The biggest mistake that people make is resigning themselves to being average, which is the opposite of self-actualization. The second most important thing is, of course, learning how to spot red flags early so that you don't get into relationship that's bad for …

All online dating advice is terrible in one way or another. The best dating advice will always come from your friends.

Yes, you're correct. I love horror media and some people on here say things that make me do a double take. Like bro, if you just casually say stuff that puts horror villains to shame, you're going to have a lot of trouble talking to people.

In most cases, it's extremely obvious why someone isn't getting any dates. Most people are just too nice to say it out loud.

Divorce is a separate problem, but the root cause is still the same. If they stop liking you, you get divorced. Back to square one. Date people who actually like you.

You can date up too. The only thing that matters is whether they actually like you or not.

Yes, that's why people go on dates to get to know each other better and hopefully spot any potential red flags early. A lack of confidence is correlated with more undesirable traits than confidence.

The first step towards getting good at something is admitting that you suck at it. If you can't get dates, you objectively suck at dating. Pick absolutely any activity. The pros are always open to the idea that they actually suck at it, and that's what allows them to continue to improve. Your defensive attitude is why you suck at dating and can't even make that first step towards getting better at it.

People who complain about being single are, more often than not, simply bored. When your day is filled with interesting activities and you are working towards your goals, you don't feel like you are missing out on anything. Being a fun, active person is also one of the best things you can do for your dating prospects. No one wants to date someone who is perpetually bored.

That's kind of the thing, people don't interpret "find what works for you" the right way. What is actually meant is that if something is not working for you, you should strive to understand why it's not working for you and why it works for other people. There's usually some kind of a logic or a core principle to most things. Once you understand how something works, you can figure out your own way to do it. What people hear is "just flail about with no aim or direction".

He managed to figure out a very common piece of red pill advice: the best way to socialize is in situations where you have to get along with other people because it's advantageous. This is why the red pill suggests that you should host parties instead of simply attending someone else's party: people don't just ignore the party host. But no, the OP just ignored this epiphany and went back to complaining about random strangers in public not wanting to socialize.

You could write the most straightforward, step-by-step guide for the easiest thing ever and half the people would still mess it up while insisting that they did everything "right". If we take people at face value, we will just end up with no actionable advice and a bottomless cesspool of self-loathing and misery where no self-improvement is possible. Just take a look at any activity. The pros will always readily admit that they don't know everything and that they could be doing some things bette…

Come on, man. Those subreddits are full of people who are shamelessly lying about how much effort they have actually put in. Or are exceptionally bad at assessing their own efforts. OP is the poster boy for the Ignored Epiphany trope. By default, people don't want to be bothered. They don't want to get know you either. If you want to meet someone, you have 2 options: Participate in group activities. Stand out from the crowd in an interesting (but positive) way. Combine both for best results.

Standards for relationships are stricter than for friendships. In a relationship, you have to spend a lot of time around the other person. With friendships, you can just tell them to shove it and go home if they are being annoying.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/07/24 01:25 PM
7

People recommend friendships because having friends is strictly better than not having friends and friends will provide you with a real life support network while you figure out how to get into a relationship. It's not a substitute, it's a foundation. Also, meeting people through mutual friends or shared activities is a lot easier than both cold approaching and online dating.

Very few people are actually ugly. Like maybe 1 in 10000 unlucky. If you get to a decent body fat % and take care of your skin, you will most likely have a pleasant-looking face. From there, you just find a haircut and/or a beard/mustache (if relevant) style that works for you and it's gg, done.

This is the internet. People say insane things all the time. Sometimes they are trolling, other times they are saying things that should have stayed as shower thoughts. Whenever in doubt, apply a sanity check. Just because something is technically grammatically correct, it does not mean that it's valid or even coherent.

No, honestly, I don't get this line of reasoning. Pick any activity / hobby / career and watch a pro at work. You immediately know which areas you are lacking in and can form a plan to improve. Why is it that when it comes to dating, people are suddenly incapable of self-reflection?

I think that if we narrow down the problem to the internet, it will self-correct. In a couple of years, every corner of the internet will be flooded by generative AI content and you will have bots talking at each other on social media platforms. Once that happens, people will stop spending so much time online simply because the internet will stop being cool.

Honestly, it's hard to explain to zoomers how much more sociable people used to be. The "male loneliness crisis" is a misnomer. It's a late Gen-Y / Gen-Z loneliness crisis. And to be blunt, it's not a loneliness crisis either. Unless you are stationed at research facility in Antarctica with only penguins for company, there is no excuse for not being able to make friends. Once again, "self-awareness or irony doesn't change public perception". Edit: got a better example. There are videos on YouTube where prankers talk like gang members and throw up gang signs and then get surprised when they get in trouble with law enforcement or, even worse, actual gang members. Being ironic doesn't protect you from public perception.

"Self-awareness or irony doesn't change public perception". The public is not obligated to interpret what you are saying in a way that is favorable to you. If you talk mad smack, people will react accordingly regardless of what you actually mean.

If you are on a dating app, you have to accept that the odds are not in your favor anyway. The male to female ratio is something like 3:1 or even 4:1. If you want to succeed on a dating app, you need to have a "can-do" mentality and bad odds shouldn't dissuade you.

/r/PurplePillDebate21/07/24 07:11 AM

The study doesn't say anything about short guys abusing substances more either. Misuse can look like more abuse, or it can look like misjudging your limits and having your metabolic system give out after one binge drinking session. Once again, you are the one choosing to interpret "misuse" in a certain way.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/07/24 07:04 AM

They are either abusing substances more, or they have lower tolerance and their metabolic system gives out easier. The study says nothing about that. Like I said, read the study and it will clear up some of your confusion. The study says nothing about what's causing the observed pattern, merely lists some possible reasons.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/07/24 06:53 AM

Or their metabolic system just gives out earlier because they are smaller. You don't actually know what's causing it, you're just speculating. And who cares about other people's preferences? If you are a short, straight dude, your target audience is: 1) short women who want to date someone who is the same height as them. 2) short women who want to date someone who is slightly taller than them. 3) tall women who want to date someone who is shorter than them. Instead of focusing on people who don'…
/r/PurplePillDebate21/07/24 06:47 AM

It also says that substance abuse may be the culprit. In fact, substance abuse is the only proposed mechanism that they have evidence for. You're choosing to fixate on one sentence in the paper and ignore everything else. And no, being short is neutral. In fact, short people have an advantage in lifting and look swole with way less effort.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/07/24 06:27 AM

Please actually read the study that you have linked instead of just posting a part of the abstract. The researchers have proposed several potential explanations and discrimination is only one of them. They aren't making any claims about what's causing this pattern.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/07/24 06:07 AM

With the exception of a very tiny minority of jobs with height requirements, they aren't being discriminated against.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/07/24 05:48 AM

You've got it twisted. People know that it's an acquired attitude and that makes it worse because it's something that they have control over and yet they choose to start beefing with other people over someone's height.

/r/PurplePillDebate20/07/24 09:40 AM

People get in and out of relationships all the time. Not everyone you meet will be single when you first become friends. Additionally, people change over time. It's entirely possible that those feelings will only develop later. In fact, it's pretty common for people within an extended friends group to have dated each other in various configurations. You should be thinking in years, not weeks or months.

There are men who get ludicrous amounts of attention from women. The only difference between those blokes and the average dude is that they know how to appeal to women. In broad strokes, you want to be emotionally independent but not closed off. So I wouldn't try to replace one form of emotional dependence with another. In terms of achieving emotional independence, the most powerful technique is meditation. If you learn how to recognize your own emotions, acknowledge them and let them run their course in a controlled and harmless manner, you are already 99% of the way there. It doesn't have to be anything super serious, you can do it very casually for 30 minute…

He is probably somewhat confusing cause and effect. A stable career and physical and mental health are likely to be good predictors of one's ability to maintain a long-term relationship. That's not to say that being married can't also have a positive impact on those things. I haven't read his book so I don't know, maybe he presents a stronger argument there. In terms of men being emotionally reliant on women, he is 100% correct. That's not to say that men can't learn to be more emotionally indep…

To expand on this, there are entire professions in which you have to be able to read someone's body language and correctly infer what they are meaning to say in order to succeed. It's easy to tell if someone is a corporate spokesperson just based off the kind of vocabulary and speech patterns that they use. It's similarly easy to tell if someone is a representative of a certain internet subculture.

If you are aiming to be below average in anything, you are going to have major issues regardless of what it is.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/07/24 10:08 AM

It's possible, but it's also a skill issue. Desire is also qualitatively different from entitlement. It's perfectly fine to want something. In fact, most people spring into action precisely because they want something. Entitlement is complaining that you need something and then demanding that it be handed to you for free without having to put in any effort yourself.

Just because it's possible to be happy without a relationship, it doesn't mean that relationships aren't also nice to be in. It's not an either/or kind of situation. If someone just can't make being single work, advising them to do something to improve their dating situation is also valid.

It won't replace a lack of ability to build rapport and chemistry in the long run, but it makes it extremely easy to strike up a conversation with someone.

No, it really does depend. Once you are high enough on the competitive ladder, those aren't just your "mates" anymore. Those are hyper-competitive pros who expect you to be able to perform and achieve good results for the team. You mess up, and the next moment they are gone to look for a more competent leader. At that level, you have to learn how to deal with a bunch of extremely difficult personalities who will be constantly challenging your leadership. And obviously you won't go far unless you…

/r/PurplePillDebate13/07/24 12:48 PM
1

You're right that there are no real world consequences for messing up. But that means that people are also free to behave in an extremely antisocial manner. Trying to lead while all members of your team are fighting both you and each other every step of the way is uniquely challenging and mostly doesn't happen in real life.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/07/24 10:07 AM
1

Have you done either?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/07/24 09:41 AM

Once again, it depends. If you play a multiplayer game where you have to assume a leadership role, your social skills will skyrocket to the point that most real life interactions will become trivially easy. For example, one of the first things that you learn in an environment like that is that confidence, initiative, pacing and proper diction are almost necessary if you want to hold people's attention. Once you master those skills, you can navigate practically any social situation in real life.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/07/24 08:55 AM
3

It all depends on how you use video games. If you challenge yourself and push yourself outside of your comfort zone, you can pick up some pretty neat skills that can be transferred to other areas of your life. If you are just grinding mobile gacha games all day long, then yeah, it's not gonna be great.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/07/24 07:59 AM
2

Nah, sometimes you want to put in minimum effort to conserve energy. Knowing which tasks to do a shoddy job of is also an important life skill. It's more that most things don't go according to plan unless you are insanely lucky, so your actual results will be worse than your expected results. Aiming to be average is thus a recipe for disaster.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/07/24 07:43 AM
1

So? You probably wouldn't want to date someone who values looks and looks alone anyway so you aren't missing out on anything if they're going on dating apps instead of hanging out at social venues. Gaming dating apps is also extremely easy if you know what you are doing. The dating woes of the average man shouldn't be your personal concern because you should never be aiming to be average.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/07/24 07:06 AM

You can always just uninstall online dating apps and go outside to socialize. Most people aren't on online dating apps anyway. If you insist on using online dating apps, then learn how to take good pictures. It's literally the only thing that matters.

/r/PurplePillDebate12/07/24 04:27 PM

I'm pretty sure that games are intentionally being designed to be as time-consuming as possible these days. Competitive raiding in World of Warcraft used to take maybe 6-9 hours a week back in the 2000s. Then it ramped up to about 20 hours by mid 2010s. Then it started getting sketchy with 30 hours or more in 2020s. Even traditionally casual games like Battlefield now have that seasonal play nonsense with battle passes and FOMO. Not sustainable for anyone with a job and a social life.

In that case, being self-centered with a bit of an ego is a better motivator to start getting things done. Most challenging things have an element of competition or antagonism that doesn't exactly go well with an unflinchingly prosocial attitude.

/r/PurplePillDebate12/07/24 01:56 PM

What does "being a good person" even mean? If it means being selfless, then nah, it's not something you should focus on while working on the fundamentals. After other areas of your life are sorted out, then sure, you can try to go out of your way to be selfless a little more.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/07/24 01:36 PM

That too, but there's other crazy stuff that you can do too once you learn how to isolate and contract/relax the various pelvic floor muscle groups. In any case, it's just an example. Anatomy is complicated and you probably want to have at least an intermediate understanding of it in order become awesome at physical intimacy.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/07/24 10:52 AM
2

Exactly. Unless you are dating someone who is also into gaming, or has done some gaming in the past, a 12-hour-long binge is simply not something that you will be able to negotiate. In that case, you don't have a lot of wiggle room. There are plenty of other hobbies that can also become dealbreakers so it's something to keep in mind.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/07/24 10:40 AM

In my experience, most dudes don't know how their own pelvic floor muscles work and that's like the key to many advanced techniques. It's not someone that you can just figure out with experience either, you have to read about how it works.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/07/24 10:27 AM

I don't think that just being "willing to please someone else" is enough in most cases. It's not just a matter of knowing someone else's body, you also have to know your own. And there is lots of stuff that you will just flat out never even know about or, even worse, have an incorrect understanding of unless you do a study session (maybe even with anatomy textbooks).
/r/PurplePillDebate12/07/24 10:13 AM

Anime is not nearly as bad, but gaming can become a major pain point very quickly. Example: modern gaming is often seasonal, which means that you will binge-play for 12 hours a day for a week and then not play at all for several months. Binge-playing like that is not something that most people will put up with. It's not like some other hobby that you can do for 20, 40 or 60 minutes a day whenever you have free time. It's designed to require long stretches of uninterrupted play.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/07/24 09:59 AM

It can work, but it will very likely result in major conflict at some point down the road regardless. Have to decide whether it will work or not on a case-by-case basis.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/07/24 09:47 AM
3

Hmm, not sure about that. Those four points that the OP brought up are all very specific and niche activities. Stuff like lifting and sorting your career out is very general and has plenty of secondary effects. The rule here is that you want to get the "fundamentals" right before even attempting to branch out.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/07/24 09:38 AM

How is it not helping? Whenever I feel bad, I listen to music that makes me feel better. Media is a legitimate way of working through your emotions.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/07/24 07:11 PM

Isn't that the entire purpose of media? To evoke emotions.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/07/24 07:04 PM

Why are they equating "opening up" to being a complete, out-of-control emotional wreck? Emotional vulnerability can be as simple as saying "yeah, this movie really resonated with me." An incoherently angry adult is something that no one wants to deal with. Save that for anger management classes, not dates with your significant other.

They aren't criticized for having "high" standards. They are criticized for having superficial standards. I'm yet to see anyone here list any standards that are actually high.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/07/24 06:33 PM

That's what I meant, though. Once it becomes possible to just live in virtual worlds 24/7, there will be fewer people going outside but it will probably be very easy to make friends with them just by trash-talking social media and generative AI content.

Hot take but it's going to become a lot easier to socialize in a decade or so just because wanting human contact will become enough of a commonality to make that first step towards friendship. The world is not ready for virtual reality worlds and hyper-personalized generative content.

If it's someone you don't know very well, you can just ask them if they want to go out on a date. Doesn't have to be an entire confession. If it's a friend, you will know if there is mutual attraction. It's so obvious that you don't have to do anything special.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/07/24 12:02 PM

Easy peasy, don't confess your feelings to someone unless you are dating them.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/07/24 11:53 AM

But why? You are missing out on 50% of potential friends AND you're not getting the benefit of having your girl friends introduce you to other girls whom you might end up dating.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/07/24 11:31 AM
3

Yo this is cooked. In real life, you can create a good impression by being chill and sociable, which is something that a lot of people find very attractive. On online dating apps, people are just rating your profile pics and that's it. Unless someone's personality is extremely off-putting, they will be more attractive in person than online.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/07/24 07:39 AM
3

Nah, it's just segmented. The normal "dating market" is the same as it has always been. Online dating is insane for various reasons and people are better off just deleting their apps instead of trying to make them work. What has changed is that that the internet has made it very easy to accidentally isolate yourself from human contact and fail to pick up social skills. Even in the 90s, if you were a gamer, you would go down to the arcade to play with the lads. Or go over your friend's house to p…

When it's a "compulsion" and variety becomes a "need", that's a clear sign of an out-of-control libido. And you're right, most dudes let it get to that point by binging too hard on smut.

The "variety" and "compulsion" parts.

It's bulking time.

/r/PurplePillDebate07/07/24 04:38 AM

The reason they are citing it as a "need" is because they are couch potatoes who just scroll on TikTok all day long. If you fill your day with productive activities, you don't feel like you are missing out on anything.

According to this logic, red pillers should be dictating which topics are allowed on this subreddit since the biggest overlaps are with various manosphere subreddits. And yet that's not the case, is it? You also complained about women not caring about men's issues in the OP, but now you are complaining that women are too involved in MensLib? So, which is it?
/r/PurplePillDebate06/07/24 02:33 PM

So? You could be a red piller and go comment on any of those subs and you would show up as a participant. You're just doing guesswork. Anyone can join a feminist group. There's no need for a "male feminist group."
/r/PurplePillDebate06/07/24 01:59 PM

None of those subs require you to be a feminist to sign up lol.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/07/24 01:53 PM

There's a movement that actually cares about men's issues and it's called MensLib. It even has a subreddit. Let's see how many of you go and sign up.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/07/24 01:44 PM

It works the same as it has worked for decades now. Turn off your phone, invest in yourself, go outside and make friends with people. When you are a well-rounded person with an active social life, dating is easy peasy.

It's also important to remember that just because someone has had a bad experience, it doesn't mean that others will have one as well. You can pick pretty much any activity and there will be throngs of people yelling about how it's the worst thing ever.

MGTOW was about "going your own way" only on paper though. 99% of it was just dudes complaining about their exes. Unless you get an endless influx of newly divorced dudes, a movement like that can't be sustained because there's just no point in being there after you chill out and go on with your life. That's why it was displaced by black pill communities: broader appeal.

Most red pill advice is also just a more explicit and practical version of blue pill advice. "Hold frame" = "be confident". Anyway, the red pill is a dating strategy for straight dudes who like women. Of course it's going to be centered around women.

Like I've mentioned elsewhere, this is the result of spending too much time online. Online communication is very basic and formulaic so you end up never learning to interpret words into actual meaning. Here's an example: someone says that personality matters. A normal person interprets it as "if we hold everything else constant, a person with a more pleasant personality will do better." On the other hand, terminally online people interpret it as "as long as you have a pleasant personality, nothi…
/r/PurplePillDebate04/07/24 07:50 AM

This is complete cap. Most dudes just plateau after newbie gains and don't know how to keep progressing because their diet / sleep / programming is bad. You can look at Alex Leonidas or Chris Heria for an example of what years of consistent natty progress look like. Most dudes aren't anywhere near that kind of physique after just 2 years.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/07/24 07:18 AM

If you are attractive, being a pleasant person to be around is a massive boost when you are dating. That's why people say that personality matters. As for dudes complaining about "being lied to", really? Did you not watch any Disney cartoons when you were a kid? Are you not familiar with "Prince Charming"? Use some common sense and start inferring meaning from context. If we had to explicitly spell out every thing that is immediately obvious, we would just be talking in rambling monologues at ea…

Some musicality is a big boost though. If you have a rich, dynamic voice, you can basically talk complete nonsense and people will still listen to you.

Look on the bright side. If someone gets pushy after a dinner date, you can save yourself a lot of headache down the road by getting the hell out of Dodge right away. Few red flags are as glaring as that.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/07/24 04:35 AM

If you don't think that your fitness or career is holding you back, then it's obviously something else. Find out what it is and get to work on it and you will be going on awesome dates very soon.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/07/24 04:31 AM

If you are under 30, you are just at the beginning of your career. Maybe you won't become a billionaire, but there is plenty of room for growth. Also what the hell is this about aging? You are under 30. Chill out.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/07/24 04:26 AM
1

Unless you have been training for close to a decade, you are nowhere near your natty limit. Anyway, you might see diminishing returns after a while but there's no "upper bound" to self-improvement. If you plateaued in the gym or in your career, you can always find other areas of self-improvement to work on.

Maybe he shouldn't have skipped leg day.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/07/24 04:10 AM

This is so stupid. Going to the gym directly affects your looks. Your face isn't floating in a vacuum, it's attached to your body. Some faces look better when they are sitting on top of a muscular body. Not to mention the fact that being lower body fat % will change the way your face looks. Muscles also change your frame. Delts, lats and quads in particular will make you look a looot wider. And everyone loves strong glutes. Balanced muscles will also improve your posture and make you look taller…
/r/PurplePillDebate04/07/24 03:49 AM

How did you miss the fact that people want to date people whom they find attractive? Literally everyone is talking about it all the time.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/07/24 03:41 AM

Your last paragraph describes red pillers pretty well.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/07/24 12:08 AM

This is the result of being online too much. Online communication tends to be very uniform and easily digestible (see: memes). If you never learn how to infer someone's internal thoughts from what they are saying, you will essentially never know what someone is actually saying. Some people take "pride" in interpreting everything super literally and think that it's some kind of a "gotcha".
/r/PurplePillDebate04/07/24 12:04 AM

Yeah we are doing so bad that humanity is on the cusp of technological ascension. Sigh...
/r/PurplePillDebate03/07/24 11:56 PM

The red pill encourages the infamous "red pill rage". Guess how people start behaving when they are fully consumed by anger? This is why you never base a self-help movement on feelings of anger.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/07/24 11:49 PM

Have all humans on Earth been replaced by aliens since then?
/r/PurplePillDebate03/07/24 11:44 PM

That is not how human communication works. If you want someone to spell out something very explicitly instead of figuring it out yourself then congratulations, you will never understand what other people are saying.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/07/24 11:35 PM

Idk man. All relationships progress at their own rate. Rushing things or taking too long are both equally bad in my opinion.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/07/24 02:29 PM

Chad is kind of washed up these days. Both Thad and Lad are doing better than him.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/07/24 02:15 PM
14

Nah, it's just that if you aren't getting any dates, you have 2 options: Lower your standards. Get back to the drawing board and work on yourself. You can have whatever standards you want, but you can't ask other people to lower their standards for you.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/07/24 11:28 AM
5

Another weird thing. At its core, red pill advice is just a more explicit and practical version of blue pill advice. Why is there a pill divide in the first place?
/r/PurplePillDebate03/07/24 10:54 AM

Can you please edit the OP and add a video of a walking tour of a "decently ranked college" so that we can discuss it? I just looked up MIT but it was pretty boring tbh.

Or maybe Joe is just overrating himself. How do you know which one it is?
/r/PurplePillDebate03/07/24 10:26 AM

Then why aren't they dating someone like that? I doubt the hypothetical Joe in the example would have any trouble dating any of his buddies from college.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/07/24 10:10 AM

If you are dating within your social circle, you aren't in a limited information environment and hence don't need to date several people to know whether you're a good match with someone or not.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/07/24 10:02 AM
19

How do you judge on a case-by-case basis? When you see someone complaining about dating online, you know next to nothing about them or their environment. Maybe Joe really is average and has average standards for his current environment. But then why is he complaining about standards instead of going on dates?
/r/PurplePillDebate03/07/24 09:58 AM
1

A lot of the hiring happens based on connections rather than merit. Why? Because people change and in the long run, it's better to hire someone who is "one of the lads" in order to maintain cohesion. The same applies to dating. If you are dating within your social circle, you are probably already sufficiently familiar with everyone to know whether you have good vibes together or not.

Going to a club has nothing to do with dating. Clubs in general are full of lame people who have no concept of what having a good time is. If you want to drink, go to a pub. If you want to listen to music, go to a concert or a festival.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/07/24 05:29 AM
2

It's mostly just a matter of practice. If you never party, of course you are going to mess up your first attempt at going to a club. Most people just never try again after one bad experience. But if you keep at it, eventually the good experiences will outweigh the bad.

How many times does it have to be said that TikTok is an aggressive disinfo platform? There's a reason it's getting banned in multiple countries.

"No free will" is an interesting thought experiment... if you are an undergrad philosophy student with a copious supply of drugs. It is about as useful as the "you can't prove that anyone else has self-awareness" thought experiment. Saying that you like something except for its defining characteristic is not just incoherent, it's incoherent in the strongest possible terms.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/07/24 07:33 AM

The defining characteristic of a human is their free will and autonomy. "I like women" is not compatible with wanting to replace them with a cheap AI imitation that's stripped of everything you don't like.

I'm sure you are a big and strong alpha.

Will her friends make breakfast for her at 7AM to cheer her up? Will the random Chad from Tinder care enough to learn what she likes to provide the best possible experience for her? Your significant other is supposed to provide emotional support and physical intimacy at a higher level than just a friend or a random Chad.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/07/24 05:18 AM
18

If your significant other has to turn to their friends for emotional support and random flings for physical intimacy, you are failing catastrophically as a partner on multiple fronts. I'm not doubting that this happens, but dudes who aren't slacking off in their relationships don't have to deal with this.

How would he even know if he's getting "unequal treatment"? If that's something he is getting mad about, he is already deep into the red pill rabbit hole. Do a 180 and RUN.

Women do ask men out. Self-improving to the point that women ask you out instead of the other way around was one of the original red pill ideas.

Kind of a moot point unless you can present a way to keep track of how much time and emotions someone is investing.

There's no way to quantify how much effort someone is putting into a relationship, unless you focus on a purely monetary expression (which is a very inaccurate proxy).

How would you even know? This isn't something that comes up on the 1st date. Or the second. Or even a couple of months into dating. And by that time you have way more relevant information to work with.

You were half right! Instead they're trying to rationalize why it's not approval that they actually want.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/06/24 02:43 PM

It has nothing to do with testosterone. Most dudes (we're talking >99.9% here) just have a chronic pelvic floor dysfunction that's messing them up (I'll let you guess how they acquire it).
/r/PurplePillDebate29/06/24 02:34 PM
24

This is why psychologists often say that you shouldn't outsource your emotional well-being to other people. It's just not consistent enough and can get you into stupid situations. This isn't anything new tbh. Plenty of philosophies and teachings stress that true happiness has to come from within.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/06/24 02:18 PM

To frame your original question differently, consider the following: how are extramarital affairs distributed? Is it a couple of ladies going on a cheating rampage with hundreds of dudes until they get pregnant? Or are they cheating with just one dude but for a really long period of time? Or is everyone cheating but only very occasionally? There's different ways to account for the 3200 number without additional data.

Toxic masculinity is absolutely bad for one's mental health and you can see it in action almost every day on here with dudes trying to determine their "status" and comparing themselves to others.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/06/24 12:15 PM
4

Other people have already discussed the numbers, but I'd like to add that you can simply avoid all of these problems by dating someone who actually likes you. People are constantly getting into stupid situations with stupid outcomes. You can't live in constant fear of being in the unlucky 1%, 2% or 3% or whatever.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/06/24 11:44 AM

Classical red pill was ok. It was basically "stop feeling sorry for yourself, go outside and touch some grass and start working on your looks, personality, hobbies and career." Although it almost immediately got derailed by trying to be a philosophy about the "nature" of women or whatever, the self-improvement stuff was legit.

Rofl dude, I'm a dude and dating is a lot easier than math and guitar. It's also easier than competitive gaming. Dating is easier than practically anything.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/06/24 05:39 AM

When you see a successful person, you see only the end result and not the journey that it took to get there.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/06/24 05:00 AM

Both math and guitar have a higher barrier to entry and hence all interactions tend to be more positive. Now take something like competitive gaming. If you suck at an online game, you are going to be called some very bad things that are several orders of magnitude worse than anything a blue piller might come up with. Lesson 1. Install League of Legends, play some lobbies and grow a thicker skin so that you aren't perpetually offended.

I don't remember the red pill on Reddit ever being positive. Maybe it was positive before it became a community on Reddit? Honestly, I have no idea. What I do remember is that it began to go sideways when all of these splinter groups started to pop up and still claim to be "red pilled" while eschewing all of the core ideas, which gave the red pill a bad rep and attracted the wrong kind of crowd to the main subreddit. Obviously black pill communities were a major hurdle, but MGTOW was muddying th…

Intention. Do they mean to show interest in someone? Then it's flirting. If they don't, they are just being friendly. Or maybe messing with or trolling them. This has an important implication. In 99% of cases knowing whether someone is flirting or not is just pure guesswork. Which is why people often either don't pick up on flirting or see flirting where there is none.

This is about the dude who did the "experiment", not the participants. If he has no problem with lying to a bunch of people, he won't have a problem with omitting parts of his "experiment" or just faking the entire thing outright. Academic integrity is non-negotiable. Once you breach it, you can't take it back.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/06/24 07:57 AM

It does. In real science we have a neat little thing called "academic integrity". Once you have proven that you don't give a damn about it, who knows what else you might have been lying about?

The bar is in hell though. Dating is something that comes very naturally to most people. We're not talking about rocket science here. What we're seeing is the all-too-common "this is impossibly hard and no one can actually do it" narrative that tends to suck people in because just giving up is a lot easier than putting in even an iota of effort and there's a perceived safety in numbers. This conversation can have some nuance though. With the exception of being a "loser" (which is a massive disadvantage and strictly worse than being a "winner"), being shy or nerdy isn't necessarily bad, but only as long as it's tempered by other personality traits. You're shy but know how to get serious and stand your ground in social situations if necessary? All good. Have nerdy interests but also know how to connect with other people? Also good. Dudes tend to underestimate how much work a committed relationship actually is, along with all the stumbling blocks that you can trip over.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/06/24 02:05 PM

Very few people are popular because they are, well, popular. There might be a dude whose entire shtick is just being popular, but generally people become popular as a byproduct of other positive traits. If you are chill, laid-back, pleasant to be around and know how to have fun, you will probably also be popular. Given a lack of more detailed information about someone, popularity is good proxy for various traits that are desirable in a committed relationship.

/r/PurplePillDebate27/06/24 05:13 AM

Plenty of men get asked out by women. It's kinda a red piller problem that they don't and maybe you should place less importance on some of their other opinions too.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/06/24 04:45 AM
24

Bro, it's your attitude. You're acting entitled just because you think you are sooo amazing while dissing the women you are trying to date. This is clear as day through text alone. No matter how good you think you are at concealing this in real life, I can guarantee you that people can spot it from a mile away. And what the hell is this about your sister? She has literally been put in life-threatening situations and you are complaining about how hard you have it? You need a new attitude.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/06/24 04:29 AM
6

Here's an example: you watch a movie together. It's clearly supposed to evoke emotions but the dude just isn't reacting and doesn't share his opinion on it beyond "huh I guess it was kinda cool". That's a case of emotional unavailability. Pretending to be tough while watching a horror movie is cool every once in a while. But you are lessening your own enjoyment in the long run if you are actively suppressing your emotions. It's okay to cry during Titanic.

You have dudes in this thread complaining because they accidentally stumbled across some radfem talking points that weren't even directed against them and it made them mad. Every time you use a product that was designed by a woman or get a service that is being provided by a woman, you are directly benefiting from feminism. More generally, modern enlightened society isn't compatible with 50% of the population not being able to participate in it.

Booted off social media platforms because of all the angry rants. Older forums either go defunct or fizzle out due to no newcomers. The only visible online presence that the red pill still has is on TikTok, and it's mostly just grifters like the tater tot trying to get views from zoomers.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/06/24 11:30 AM

All of that advice is something that a blue piller would give if pressed hard enough. The defining characteristic of the red pill is the so-called "red pill rage". Let's just say that the red pillers have found out what happens when you encourage people to be angry.

When someone says that the level of closeness that one has with their significant other is literally just a normal friendship + physical intimacy, there are several possible explanations as to why they would think that. None of them are particularly nice, though.

If someone is having a bad day, the most you can do to help them is be there for them, listen to them, hug them and maybe give them a cup of hot cocoa. None of those things will make someone's depression go away. If you have depression, it's up to you to take the steps that are necessary to get through it instead of outsourcing it to other people.

There are plenty of positive emotions! Like love, joy and hope. Sometimes even nostalgia is fun to indulge in. When people tell you to be more open about your emotions, they don't mean that you should make your insecurities or anger issues everyone else's problem.

Red pill rage is strong only in the way that it will consume you faster than mere transient anger. All of these dudes being completely overtaken by their anger, hatred, jealousy and paranoia isn't exactly what I would call "strong" in the positive sense of the word. In fact, it's a complete anathema to any lasting self-improvement.

They didn't ban the red pill sub. They merely quarantined it, which shouldn't have completely torpedoed it and yet here we are. The actual reason why red pilled communities go the way of the dodo is because their participants tend to either bounce back to being blue pilled or go down the path of complete nihilism and start posting unhinged rants that would get them banned from any online platform.

/r/PurplePillDebate24/06/24 02:46 PM

I had several occasions where I had to do some public speaking in front of a large audience and I simply stopped having any kind of social anxiety afterwards. Learning some breathing and diction exercises actually made me start to enjoy speaking and social interactions in general.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/06/24 02:37 PM

This advice works, but you can be much more efficient. Just approaching someone and talking to them works to improve your social skills, but these kinds of interactions are not very difficult to begin with and won't teach you much. You will improve much more quickly and to a greatest extent if you force yourself into high-performance, high-anxiety social situations and learn how to handle them. Once you master those, just talking to someone is easy peasy.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/06/24 02:18 PM

Yes, most red pillers do have legitimate points. But for every legitimate point, they also have some made-up stuff. The legitimate points is what gets people hooked on the red pill, while the made-up stuff is what keeps them spinning wheels in place and listening to red pill podcasts.

Sure, your analogy holds up if we assume that it's a prison train where you have to obey a bunch of absurd rules or else a warden will visit you for a "talk". Most people would choose the car under those circumstances.

You're not pushing a boulder though. You are lifting, but it has a ton of effects that go beyond just moving a heavy object from point A to point B. You are getting stronger, which means you will exert less effort elsewhere while doing everyday tasks. Not to mention countless other health benefits. And you have obviously never had long hair. It's not even comparable how much more effort long hair takes to maintain.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/06/24 04:24 AM

Lifting is literally my favorite part of the day. It doesn't feel like I'm exerting any effort at all. In fact, I feel like I'm actively relaxing when I can just put my favorite music on blast and start moving heavy things around. And you're ignoring the fact that not doing something can cause you to start exerting effort elsewhere. Sure, not cutting your hair doesn't take much effort. You can literally see people in this thread proving your point without even realizing it. "Don't be fat" gets immediately translated into "have a dangerously low body fat % that will wreck your health", while "be a little feminine" turns into "don't you dare display any individuality, behave like the ideal 50s housewife or else."
/r/PurplePillDebate24/06/24 03:51 AM
5

Deadlifting your own bodyweight is something that you should be able to do after several months in the gym. Literally beginner stuff. And unless you are going to be an IFBB pro, you don't need to take steroids or maintain low body fat % to have a good physique. Anyway your category "B" is entirely about controlling women's behavior. Much easier to just hit the gym 3 times a week and lift instead of spending your life trying to live up to someone's ridiculous checklist.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/06/24 03:44 AM
-2

This is exactly what I meant. You have a broad view of the problem, but none of the details which would actually give you the tools that you need to succeed. What you are describing is the equivalent of reading the tl;dr summary for physics on Wikipedia and then going "yeah I can basically do theoretical physics now".

Because it's not sustainable. If you do all of those things and then still get rejected then, well, the result is not gonna be pretty. Nah honestly this is pretty solid advice. It doesn't even have to be romantic fiction. Just make note of the gender of the author and you will eventually start to notice the subtle differences in how men think vs. how women think. You're not gonna get a better explanation of these differences elsewhere simply because they are too complex and nuanced and a tl;dr summary isn't possible. Also, romantic novels get a bad rep because people immediately think of Twilight and 50 Shades. That's like sayi…

Ideally, you want to listen to both men and women for dating advice for a balanced view. If there's something that both men and women agree on, you should probably do it. If there is a point of contention, you should look more closely into it and come to your own conclusions.

I said every red pill talking point, not just some of them. A common red pill rant will have mentions of hypergamy, the 20/80 rule, something about height, and honestly a lot of stuff that I don't even feel like repeating here. Just having a horrible opinion doesn't make people think that you are a lunatic. It's when you list off several in quick succession that it starts to raise eyebrows.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/06/24 06:10 PM
10

Yeah okay if I go on some obscure radfem forum, I might see talking points like that. But I never see rants like that out in the wild. On the other hand, I'm exposed to extremely deranged red pill rants on the daily in video game communities. Hell, it's even starting to creep into fitness communities. One is prevalent, the other is not.

Women's rants tend to be milder, hence the milquetoast reactions. Men's rants tend to get unhinged very fast, hence the strong pushback. You won't find the female equivalent outside of FDS or some of the more obscure radfem forums.

Most guys will flat out refuse to do any reading out of principle so someone with experience is better than someone with no experience and zero clue. You don't really need to practice. If you actually get an anatomical understanding of what you are doing, you will be able to figure it out on the fly. Plus intimacy is a deeply individual experience so what might work for one person won't necessarily work for another. Keep communicating and asking for feedback and you will do really good.

Most blue pillers will give the same advice as red pillers if pressed hard enough. They're just hesitant to say "your social skills suck" and start beefing with some random stranger on the internet. In terms of good dating advice, the best advice will always come from your friends. They have a free pass to tell you like it is without sugarcoating anything. Plus they know you better than some randoms on the internet so they can actually give you personalized advice.

I'm a dude and I'm just applying my experience from group matchmaking for competitive play in World of Warcraft to online dating. It's extremely similar, at least in my opinion. There's also the possibility that setting your standards too low will scare off some potential matches. I know for sure that seeing someone set either low standards or no standards at all makes me think that they're not taking it seriously.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/06/24 02:45 PM
-1

Let's just say that the level of standards also accounts for the fact that they are going to get somewhat relaxed at some point. If you set your standards high, you can relax them to mid. If you set your standards to mid, you can only drop them to low. Setting extremely high standards on dating apps is also the only way to minimize your chances of having a horrible time.

Streaming has always been weird. You're basically watching someone for hours on end, hoping that, idk, something interesting will happen? Back before streaming got popular, people would make 15-20-minute-long videos that got to the point and only showed the highlights / relevant parts. Yes. The short guy who is self-conscious about his height is extremely easy to notice because he is sure to bring it up in every single conversation.

Let's just say that if you are slightly awkward, that won't stop someone who genuinely likes you from dating you. If anything, "slightly awkward" will be translated into "a bit shy but cute". As long as you aren't being a douchebag and going out of your way to insult people, a lack of social skills isn't that big of a deal. Most people are slightly awkward, in fact. That said, being the super confident fun guy who gets invited to parties will get you more dates just because more people will noti…

/r/PurplePillDebate20/06/24 04:29 AM

I think a lot of dudes just flat out don't like women (in a romantic sense) and this resentment comes from the fact that society (mostly other men) are pressuring them to like women but they really just don't.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/06/24 03:32 AM

Someone has to say it but: these clothes also just look nice. Seriously, the human body is extremely aesthetic. Artists are so inspired by the human form that they spend decades learning to draw / sculpt / photograph it. Appreciating beauty and aesthetics is, like, one of the most human things to do. There should be absolutely no shame in dressing in a way that you think looks aesthetically pleasing. Nor should there be a need to justify or rationalize it.

Still has to be pointed out because people are trying to make this seem like a law enforcement / philosophical / societal problem when it's actually just a purely practical one. If you try to start up beef around the block, bad things will happen. It's not an "if", it's virtually guaranteed. Mind your own business and don't try to find trouble and other people will respect it and leave you alone as well. You can't "well actually" your way out of a situation on the block once you have already pis…

Nice revenge fantasy, bro. But he's just going to get bankrupted by legal fees though. But not before the cops laugh at him for being a dummy.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/06/24 09:10 PM

But that's not how you are presenting the sequence of events. Actually throwing the drinks is a massive escalation from just threatening it. He could have walked away at any point instead of continuing to beef. Anyway, general rule of life around the block: don't start beef over something minor. You never know when you're going to get hit with disproportionate retribution just because your dummy cheeks decided to start beefing with someone over $2.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/06/24 09:06 PM

I like how you're conveniently leaving out the fact that he is the one who ended up throwing the drinks LOL
/r/PurplePillDebate19/06/24 08:58 PM

Dude be literally trying to start beef with service industry workers. That kind of attitude doesn't go over well around the block.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/06/24 08:53 PM

It really does not. As long as it sounds good and is not offensive, you can say almost anything and it will work. People are looking for good vibes, not deep philosophical insights.

You're way overthinking this. If you can string 2 sentences together, you already have all the experience you need. If you still think that you need practice, you can get it done entirely within the comfort of your own home. For speaking, just do the set of exercises that voice actors do to warm up and you will sound amazing in no time at all. In casual conversations, people won't care what you are saying as long as it sounds good. If you really need to be able to say things that make sense, pic…
/r/PurplePillDebate19/06/24 07:05 PM

You don't need to "practice" social skills. If you're an adult, you already have decades' worth of practice. That's more than enough. What you need to do is work through self-imposed restrictions that are holding you back.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/06/24 06:48 PM

Human bodies look amazing. Literally something that artists are so inspired by that they spend decades learning to draw / sculpt / photograph them. Big surprise for you that people like clothes that accentuate and show off the human form? If you see the human body and immediately start thinking about sex, that's on you.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/06/24 02:28 PM

Look up male ballet tights. Literally the same thing as these leggings. It's just that minimizing friction is more relevant when doing high flexibility moves or just moving around a lot. You don't need to move around a lot to squat. But for something like yoga yeah, these leggings would definitely beat other options in terms of comfort.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/06/24 02:19 PM

So? Plenty of people wear gymwear as streetwear. Big surprise for you?
/r/PurplePillDebate19/06/24 02:13 PM

Yooo Jiraiya, what kind of smut have you been "researching" lately? No wonder Naruto turned out the way he did.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/06/24 10:36 AM

No. Men need positive male-centric spaces (hint hint, not the Manosphere), but making an ideological movement out of it is the last thing that they need. Most of men's problems are self-inflicted as a result of falling into the "men are oppressed" rabbit hole and refusing to take action to improve one's circumstances. Most existing MRA-type groups only create more problems instead of solving them.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/06/24 09:37 AM

Good luck, king!

Rule #1 of the red pill: anyone you disagree with isn't actually red pilled. It's a bit like metal elitists accusing each other of being posers but decidedly less funny.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/06/24 03:19 PM

So humble and unassuming that they are complaining about Chad and Stacy 24/7.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/06/24 03:16 PM
2

Another thing to consider is that both pills might have different definitions of what constitutes a "social hierarchy". So you can end up being both a simp in one kind of hierarchy, and a rebel in a different one.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/06/24 10:21 AM
6

Probably the red pill, particularly where it intersects with right-wing politics. Instead of questioning how and why the people who are on top ended up there, they are kowtowing and feeding more money to the Andrew Tates and the Elon Musks of the world and trying to emulate them. Though the blue pill has its fair share of embarrassing moments too.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/06/24 10:10 AM
6

The blue pill is just the normal position that the world can suck something fierce, but there's still a lot of beauty and goodness in it and the good days more than make up for the bad ones. The red pill is a delayed teen emo phase but instead of having good but edgy music, it's about paleoconservatism for grown-up dudes. You don't need to come up with imaginary social hierarchies when the working-middle-upper class stratification already exists.

Standard fearmongering. Yes, you can get screwed over by a cheating partner. But guess what? The vast majority of activities carry some kind of risk with them. Even just staying in your bed 24/7 can turn risky. Just because something can carry some kind of a risk along with it, it doesn't mean that it's not worth doing.

/r/PurplePillDebate18/06/24 04:39 AM

Someone checking and posting on their social media while otherwise being outside is not the same as being glued to your PC and gaming, watching streams and guzzling down red pill content 24/7.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/06/24 04:34 AM
-1

Online dating is only a part of the problem. The real issue is that gaming 24/7 with only short breaks to guzzle down some influencer "content" on TikTok or YouTube has become the lifestyle of choice.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/06/24 04:09 AM
-3

Good. I don't need your "explanation" when I can log in on Discord and see that 99% of the regulars who are gaming 24/7 are dudes.

I don't normally recommend playing video games, but some dudes on here should really play World of Warcraft at a competitive level. Make your own group for endgame content, see 100+ people immediately apply and you will know exactly why dating apps work the way they do.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/06/24 08:13 AM

If you aren't interested in long-term relationships and only go for short-term flings, you can easily go above 6 by the time you graduate from college. And that's making some very conservative assumptions like dating no more than two new people per year. If you are a party beast, you can go above 6 in a single week.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/06/24 04:47 AM
10

No, it's completely normal. You are arguing with people who have never been invited to a party while they were in college.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/06/24 04:37 AM

No one spends quite as much time obsessing over men's status as red pill bros do.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/06/24 04:18 AM

The future is automated. While Elon Musk, Sam Altman & co are pumping billions into creating a machine god, you are fighting boogiemen. One day you will wake up and realize that you have sat out on all of the most important socioeconomic developments of today because you were too busy complaining about feminism. Anyway, people are only fighting for stupid "pill" "ideologies" in the first place because it's what arcane algorithms are filling their social media feeds with.

If you're an average dude, all you need to do is lift and be chill.

Desperately trying to make it seem like men are a disadvantaged, oppressed class is a much better example of internalized misandry tbh.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/06/24 06:36 AM
45

As a dude, neither I nor my male friends have ever felt oppressed or discriminated against on the basis of being male. If anything, I can recall dozens in situation in which being male was advantageous. You can argue that being male doesn't give one any special advantages, or that both men and women have their own sets of advantages. But quite frankly, trying to argue that men are "oppressed" is completely disconnected from reality.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/06/24 06:20 AM

Each one of those is a disadvantage compared to baseline. Being born male is, at the very worst, neutral.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/06/24 06:31 PM

This comment encapsulates why people call it entitlement almost perfectly. It didn't take very long for envy to rear its ugly head, did it? "Everyone who is doing better than me has actually had all of their successes handed to them on a silver platter."
/r/PurplePillDebate15/06/24 06:24 PM

But they aren't complaining about something that is equivalent to any of those things that you have listed. They are complaining that just the fact that they were born male makes them super oppressed and literally every woman is out to get them. This is not just offensively stupid, but also stupidly offensive towards everyone who is actually dealing with difficult life circumstances.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/06/24 05:53 PM
1

Bro, you can make anything seem like an insurmountable obstacle by describing it in sufficient detail. Like do you know how many muscles and reflexes you need to coordinate when drinking a beer? Complaining about something that becomes second nature with experience is ridiculous.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/06/24 05:48 PM
8

The red pill hardly qualifies as an "ideology". More than anything, it's just a creative writing assignment about how badass and manly you are. It's one of those things where the more you read about it, the less it will make sense.

It's impossible to predict which ones are gonna be good. Just pick a fandom that you like and try reading the most popular / upvoted story. I'm serious about the quality though. Thinking about it, World of Warcraft is the biggest red pill simulator on the market. In order to play it competitively, you have to fully internalize wonderful life lessons like: You only have 2 options: lower your standards or get better (a.k.a. "git gud"). You won't get any respect unless you are in the top 1% of something. In order to achieve your goals, you have to grind or have a fat bank account and just throw money at problems until they go away. You most definitely have a skill issue. W…

You can make friends even easier than this. Literally just go to the gym and lift 3-4 times a week and stick to a schedule. In a couple of months, I can guarantee that you will have several friends who're always up for hanging out.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/06/24 07:46 AM

There is nothing to discuss here. The entire post is beyond ridiculous. If someone is complaining about not being able to make friends, it's a problem with that someone being terminally online in 100% of cases.

Bro, if you are struggling to make friends, it's a totally "you" problem. It's like, 100x easier than getting a date (which is in itself pretty easy). You can come up with all the theoretical and hypothetical justifications that you want, but it will still remain a you problem. Literal kids can form entire friends networks within hours, if not minutes. If you don't have any friends, uninstall all your social media right now and go outside. You will never be able to outsource your "lack of friend…

/r/PurplePillDebate13/06/24 12:01 PM

/r/PurplePillDebate13/06/24 11:59 AM

Don't need to be an engineer to recognize a train wreck.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/06/24 11:57 AM

They could also just start lifting.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/06/24 11:50 AM

So? You can be the most successful person in the world and people will still find a reason to call you a clown. Verbal sparring like that is, like, the most universal human experience.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/06/24 11:19 AM

Nope. There are plenty of people who are short or overweight (or both) who are insanely successful, which directly contradicts your narrative. But you're right about teen girls. Adult men who are grilled for their size or height are literally going completely ballistic and reacting like a teen would. Don't even have to work that hard if you're looking to troll someone.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/06/24 11:13 AM

People pick whatever they think will get a raise out of someone when roasting them. Dudes tend to go into complete meltdown when you use any size-based insult against them, so it's the go-to when you want to send someone on a temper tantrum. So no, it's not that society thinks that size is an issue. It's just that society knows that dudes who think they have a size issue are super self-conscious about it and it will get the desired reaction when trolling them. Also, the only person who actually …
/r/PurplePillDebate13/06/24 09:31 AM

Okay I'm going to point out something that a lot of people seem to be missing: video games, bro. In order to do well in modern video games, especially multiplayer games, you have to do obscure, counter-intuitive plays. I mean honestly, the fear of being exposed to violence is pretty universal. If they can't even empathize with women on something that they themselves can become victims of, can they empathize on more subtle and nuanced issues that don't have a direct male equivalent?

/r/PurplePillDebate12/06/24 06:39 AM

Pretty sure men coming up with oppressive legislation to disadvantage women falls squarely under the "area of interaction with the opposite gender". Anyway, the same sentiment holds at all levels. Like half the posts on PPD are dudes complaining about women being able to make their own choices.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/06/24 05:54 AM

Nah, women's problems are way more significant and difficult to deal with. They tend to be institutional in nature, and unseating discriminatory social norms that have been in place for centuries requires coordinated social action. That's not something that any single person can feasibly do on their own. Men's problems tend to be of a personal nature. The only person you are really struggling against is yourself. And well, changing your own habits is way easier than changing the society.

What it boils down to is that dating is very easy. In fact, it's so easy that billions upon billions of people have done it. Dating someone comes extremely naturally to humans, it's basically second nature. The red pill gets some things right (like: you should be confident, sociable and focus on self-improvement), but gets horrifically sidetracked when it tries to explain social dynamics. So you end up with a bunch of dudes who saw improvement because they did something basic like going to the g…

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: rating people on a 1-10 scale with assumed normal distribution has completely torpedoed people's ability to make a more-or-less correct assessment where someone stands in terms of looks. Knowing how to manage your emotions is one of the most important life skills that you can learn. Being attractive is important, but it doesn't work the way that the red pill thinks. It's almost entirely subjective and one person's 10 might be another person's 6. Also, most people skew attractive rather than unattractive and being 10/10 to some people is a lot more common than red pill bros think. Attraction is not linear. /r/PurplePillDebate09/06/24 05:00 PM

That's the thing though, it doesn't have to be an either/or kind of situation. Something like 3 hours a week with a proper program will give you very solid gains over a sufficiently long period of time and that's what, like almost nothing compared to how many hours there are in a week. I'm pretty sure that most people spend more time browsing on their phone in a single day.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/06/24 02:56 PM

Okay but why wouldn't you lift? It has countless health benefits, it encourages you to sort out your sleep and eating habits to maximize gains and it gives you a hobby that you can regularly improve at. And it's not even time-consuming, you just need a couple of hours a week. And yeah, women should be lifting too. 99/100 of those people are going to see massive improvements in their life from lifting.

/r/PurplePillDebate09/06/24 02:10 PM

Bro, you're spending way too much time worrying about hypotheticals, philosophy and what other people are doing. You should only be thinking about your own dating life. Lots of mental gymnastics to convince yourself of that when you can just go outside and see for yourself that most dudes with wives and girlfriends are completely normal. The dudes in red pill spaces who are practicing being perpetually upset, on the other hand...

Sure, but there are certain interests that will totally ruin a relationship unless both partners share or at least tolerate them. Like let's look at anime for example - classics like Cowboy Bebop are something that everyone would enjoy, even people who aren't usually into anime. But then there are certain genres of anime that would be extremely off-putting to people who aren't into it. So what do you do in that case? Just watch that stuff in secret while your partner pretends not to notice? Awkw…

Ok now imagine if your boyfriend didn't like watching Netflix. Or only liked divisive genres of TV like horror. Or if he didn't like going on walks. Just because something is widespread, it doesn't mean that it doesn't constitute a "common interest" anymore. Like yeah most people can agree that watching TV and going on walks is fun but it still counts as a "common interest". Now imagine a more extreme situation. One person in a couple likes to travel, the other hates it. How do they find common …

How so? Beauty is subjective and people find different things attractive. How is that contradicting anything?
/r/PurplePillDebate02/06/24 05:48 AM

And this is surprising, why? Literally fairy tales should have clued you in to the fact that people value physical attraction.

Fact is, you never know what's gonna happen tomorrow and having a lot of disposable income helps most people sleep better at night. If you're going to live an extremely frugal lifestyle like that, you should accept that it's not something most people are going to be comfortable with and that will limit your dating options.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/06/24 03:25 AM

Nah, it's way more funny when dudes get mad over a list of some of the most basic "requirements" one can imagine.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/06/24 07:27 AM
1

That's a good way to fail at basic human communication 101. People are almost never literal with what they say. Everyone innately understands that common phrases like "the bare minimum" have a lot of wiggle room. If everyone was completely literal all the time, you would end up with very weird robot speak. Would you rather she called it the "list of requirements that are slightly above bare minimum"?
/r/PurplePillDebate01/06/24 07:15 AM
-1

You're being too literal with "bare minimum". No one is going to split hairs over 38 vs. 41 unless it's one of the more important items in the checklist, like "9. don't be misogynistic". It's a very common practice to set minimum requirements slightly above what they actually are in order to weed out the contenders who are definitely not going to meet them.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/06/24 07:05 AM

Most dudes in healthy long-term relationships have a lot of these qualities. Maybe not all 41, but 38 sounds about right.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/06/24 07:00 AM
-2

But still, none of these "requirements" are too unreasonable or particularly difficult to fulfill. If someone gave you a creative writing assignment to list as many qualities of a decent person as possible, it would probably look something like this.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/06/24 06:55 AM

It's not an issue for the vast majority of people though. We shouldn't be looking at edge cases to disqualify good dating advice.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/06/24 06:45 AM
-2

So? Are you trying to argue that the list is too detailed?
/r/PurplePillDebate01/06/24 06:41 AM
-3

Most of these traits are heavily correlated. You can pick any 5 at random and once you check them off, you automatically fulfill the rest. It's not that hard.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/06/24 06:34 AM
-3

I mean yeah it should be pretty obvious that if you're struggling with dating, self-improvement is key. But modern red pillers would rather complain about being 5% shorter than the national average and give up entirely.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/06/24 06:33 AM

Nope, it's not shallow. It's only shallow if someone's looks are the only thing you like about them. For the record, liking someone only for their sense of humor / personality / money / whatever is just as shallow. When you are romantically involved with someone, you are supposed to like them in their entirety. Not selectively.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/06/24 06:11 AM

I know 5'5" dudes who go on way more dates than the 6'5" dudes. Height is a comfortable excuse, but ultimately it's just that: an excuse.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/06/24 04:38 AM

You don't need prominent bone structure to be attractive. That's like the biggest defeatist mindset nonsense ever. Stop basing your beauty standards on the red pill's caricature of a Chad and you'll find that there are plenty of other attractive looks that you can go for.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/06/24 04:31 AM

The right hairstyle and/or facial hair, as well as body fat % reduction, can change how your face looks a lot. Like a lot a lot. Height is not as important as you think. Plus if you are short, you can look jacked with a lot less effort.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/06/24 04:09 AM

Okay but hear me out. Normal dudes can self-improve to be decently above average in terms of attractiveness. Like yeah maybe you won't be getting modeling contracts or an acting career based solely on your looks, but being the best-looking dude in your social circle is relatively easy. Yes, it does help with social skills. Like, a lot. If you're going to the gym, lifting when there are lots of people around will help you feel less shy and self-conscious in other situations. Plus, you're going to be making small talk and might even make a friend or two. Being stronger, more flexible and more coordinated will also make your body language more confident and natural, which is an immense help. If you think that your social skills are the problem, getting lots of friends and socializing will fix it in 99% of cases. You will probably even get some dates through mutual friends. The problem with the red pill is that it doesn't work. That's why "classical" red pill communities are mostly gone and replaced by more extreme, incel-adjacent variations. So you have 1) people who have figured this out and moved on to other self-help communities, and 2) people who refuse to accept that it doesn't work and keep on doubling down. Because building a relationship with another person is one of the most fulfilling things you can do. Plus, being in a mutually loving relationship with someone is a massive productivity boost. Just being happy is good, but being in love is the good stuff that pushes you to the next level.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/05/24 01:11 PM

What I find interesting about the 20/80 "rule" (no, I don't actually buy it) is that those are actually some very good odds. We're not talking about the top 1% here. Or even the top 10%. For most activities, being in the top 20% means that you are a casual weekend enjoyer proficiency-wise. Hell, if there was a university that admitted 20% of applicants, you would say that it's one of the easiest universities to get into, ever.

You're not going to get super shredded and big by just going to the gym. You need tren for that and once you start taking tren, it's only a matter of time until you are also blasting hgh, slin and primo. "Just lift, bro" is still the king of dating advice.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/05/24 05:38 PM

We were talking about money matters though, right? "Cares about looks but not income" is a bit more common than "cares about neither looks nor income." Imo, caring about income is definitely the more superficial of those two.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/05/24 08:08 AM

Caring about someone's looks doesn't make one superficial. It can become superficial if looks are the only thing someone cares about, but wanting to date someone you find attractive is like the most normal thing in the world.

Btw, it doesn't even have to be expensive or physical. Buy them tickets to see their favorite band live if you don't have any better ideas. Just do something. Plan a date that they will enjoy. Anything is better than nothing.

If you're going to base your entire sense of self-worth on being in a relationship, you were going be miserable anyway. People in co-dependent relationships aren't happy. You can make the choice to stop stewing in this defeatist mindset and start living any time you want.

This is so stupid I can't even. Working out at the gym makes everyday tasks easier, your overall health improves and there is massive carryover into other physical-activity-based hobbies like rock climbing, hiking or dancing. Skill-based hobbies like drawing or music let you create more awesome things as you get better at them. They might even open up career opportunities. At the very least, they let you flex your creativity - something that a lot of people are missing in our hyper-consumerist s…

You know, you can work on yourself and improve without hating on women. Or even thinking about women at all. Self-improvement is all about yourself, not other people. Trying to self-improve only to end up stewing in a pot of hatred and misery that you yourself have made kinda defeats the point.

You need to meal prep chicken, rice and broccoli or you will never make any gains.

Even if you have exactly 0 experience, you should have enough common sense and carryover from other activities to know when you're doing something right vs. when you are doing it wrong. That's intuition.

Or you can take 5 minutes to read a guide online. Plenty of very good learning materials out there. It's not rocket science.

Damn, did you learn that from high school musicals and teen dramas?

Not a new thing. People who are very loudly against something are usually guilty of it (applies to everything).

Yea, I fortunately had a fantastic childhood. Now I think that it's a good practice to introduce your partner to your friends early on to get a second (and hopefully more objective) opinion.

I'm talking from a male point of view but I think it can apply to both genders. I know I have been in some baaad situations that I didn't even realize were bad at the time (they seemed good on paper). It took much more experience to put 1+1 together. Like yeah if you have the perfect fairy tale relationship with no red flags and all the green flags in the world, no need to sabotage it just to try something new. But if you're in a "meh" relationship, you shouldn't feel too bad if it ends.

It's more likely that it will be completely milquetoast but not bad enough for you to realize that yeah, it sucks. Like in the slowly boiling frog analogy, you know? A couple of relationships should give you plenty of time to figure out all the aspects of compatibility, e.g. all the different love languages and how they match. If you're dating someone, you're going to be spending a lot of time around them so you want to be as compatible as possible and not just "good enough". You aren't followin…

No, it's more to get a feel for what kind of a relationship makes you happy (hopefully a healthy one). Many people are stuck in awful, awful relationships because they don't have the necessary frame of reference.

Only LTRs - it's a good idea to have short flings with a couple of people to figure out what you like / want. Only short flings - there's probably an issue there. Idk what kind of issue but it's there.

Normal sounds good. Neither of these extremes are appealing.

Straight men also find other men attractive. They are just afraid of saying it in public because... reasons. Check out how much time they had spent glazing each other in ancient Greece and stuff.

Dating apps have a self-selecting population, and not in a favorable way. You have to look at the general population.

2nd guy literally looks like Senator Armstrong lmao what are you even talking about. He's also bulking hard. With the same haircut and facial hair as the 1st guy, he would easily look way more impressive.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/05/24 07:16 AM

Lower body fat % will make your face more aesthetic. Healthy, hydrated skin + a suitable haircut and/or facial hair will also make your face more aesthetic. Being shorter will help you look more swole as you put on muscle. Stop making excuses.
