Contact a lawyer. If you are entitled to half by law then you must get it.

Ask your lawyer. I'm not sure if you have one.

If you have the power to decide to move out and separate then I don't think you need to agree to her no dating condition. I will respectfully decline her proposal. IMO, this is a power or manipulation move for what's to come. "you hold no power or control over me" is my mantra.

Depends how one's relationship was with the in-laws. my in-laws were initially not great with me then it was okay but then it went to shit because my ex fed them incorrect information and manipulated them. I keep it professional tbh. I'm sorry for her loss but I won't allow myself to be used, manipulated, blamed, or anything negative on me.

Always. Be the best man you want to be. Be the best man you can be. Be the best man you aspire to be. It's a process and hard work. I had lost myself. I couldn't even recognize myself when it was over. Gained 60+ lbs, lost hundreds of thousands, took a hit on credit score, lost almost all of my savings and rainy day fund and what no in 4 years of marriage. Collecting what's broken and repairing the damage one by one.

Hold your ground and do not engage. Follow your brain and attorney. Be clear to your attorney what you want so that he/she can advice you accordingly. Divorce is not a fool's errand. It's a zero sum game. If she is not screwed then most definitely you are. The amount of gains she makes will directly proportion to the amount of losses you will concur. Also, think about your future. Your kid and your life. She has no interest in you otherwise she won't have decided to divorce you. She may pretend …

She wants to cut you short. Also, she is giving you less. Please check the laws of your state. I recommend you consult a good attorney. Once she gives you less and divorce, she can do whatever she likes. Full custody, throw you out, no alimony. Sky is the limit. She is creating an illusion of working things out to shortcircuit your brain.

Men don't need healing they need hunting (challenges).

Get your own lawyer to represent you asap. You will never know when you can end up on the other side!! Just an advice.

It's not a loan. It's a gift. She decided to take it and they decided to give. There is no way it's a common debt.

If you care for the child and want to be with him on a frequent basis then don't go overseas and stay put. Build your life around yourself and your kid. Work on yourself and you will find happiness

Consult a lawyer. The lawyer may give you the right advice based on your state's laws.

You must not be harsh on yourself. You can heal yourself and not need to burn this lovely relationship. Care for her and love her. Talk to her how you feel sometimes and you want to work on it for her. If she is who you say she is then she will help you.

It happens. Nothing is perfect. It will heal. Just give it some time. Don't overthink. It will try to pull you in the whirlpool of limbo. The community is here for you!!

My bad. I read your post 3 days ago. I felt sad for you and a bit for myself. Reddit sent me a new notification about this post. I hope you are doing well.

This sucks. The current rates are too high for refinancing. So sorry that she is making you go through this. You can try and propose an equal profit share when you sell in exchange for her remaining on the mortgage.

I mean she is not wrong. She is probably going to talk to the lawyer. Tell her wish list so that the lawyer can come up with a game plan. I recommend you also think about a wish list. Consult a lawyer if you already haven't. The way she said it, I think it will be a contentious divorce unless you get pushed over as much as she wants !!

She is playing you. You can tell her that you are getting a lawyer if she likes. If she buys you out then it should be at the current valuation and mortgage status. Who is the breadwinner in your marriage? She? You? Or both ?

I agree. It was not worth it for me. Still married but almost at the end of it. No kids so it is not gonna affect me further. I can't imagine when a spouse gets stuck because of kid(s).

Well if you got no prenup then it's 50/50 for sure. If there was a prenup, you may recoup the money you had before marriage. And the rest is 50/50. IMO

You are almost at the end of the tunnel my friend. Light is almost there. No need to go back to darkness. She has done enough damage.
