The poor guy who made that comment about the demise of his marriage is just seeing the world through the lens of his own experience. I feel terrible that he went through that!

I don't think you two can last much longer in this arrangement. No need to scare the poor girl with your projections.

Oh man, aspergers. Now I get it. That is such an important detail. As for the girl, since I don't know her age or yours or how long you've been dating, I dont know what is right for your situation. I'm think another subreddit would be able to help you especially if you provide all those details including aspergers. Asktrp, askmrp, askmen, etc. Good luck man.

Thanks for taking the time to provide more clarity! Honestly that doesn't seem too sarcastic unless you have a really nasty tone behind it, which I'm guessing you didn't. that means basically you can only be in relationships with people that are literally perfect No but ideally there wouldn't be a sense of contempt. when I texted her about meeting up to speak in person I'll never understand why people get frustrated that they did not get the results/connection they were seeking through texting. …

Since you're commenting on this thread and going through something, I'm assuming you'd like feedback or perspective, so here is mine. You talk about this respect thing. Sarcasm at her that gets taken too far, especially in front of her friends, is not exactly the epitome of respect, nor do you seem to respect her need for space but criticize her in your thoughts, if you havent criticized her directly yet (which probably did not do anything but put her way off). Disliking it is one thing but not …

Aw, I'm sorry, I can tell how frustrated you are over this. Sounds like you are making a lot of assumptions about her desire for space to think and what that really means, which is honestly silly and illogical;-). Ask yourself why you are jumping to extrapolations like "never wanting to speak to someone again." Jumping to conclusions about her hidden intentions of wanting space to think is not going to make her feel great about how tensions get handled in your relationship. Sometimes conflict ge…

Do you practice mindfulness/ meditation? Yes! I visualize breathing in shimmery wonderful energy down into my lower belly (which is your center of gravity, your womb, and the main energy/power center in most Eastern philosophies), and as I exhale feel/imagine the shimmering permeating out through my skin on my whole body from the inside out. I especially like to do this when there is silence at the dinner table, for example! It is so tempting not to let silence hang there, but if you're shy or n…

It is normal to be a little shy at first, and most people get this, including your SO's family. I handle this by just saying how nice it is to meet someone, answering their questions, reciprocating the question, etc. The most important thing I do, however, is be careful not to have resting b**** face and to sort of sink into myself and breathe and relax and enjoy. Remember that trying too hard to impress someone can have the opposite effect. Sometimes I have even admitted I was a little nervous …

I am not a skinny thing and am actively trying to lose weight. I find that people around me do discourage me and "worry" for my well being when I am turning down calories, even in the form of pizza or cake. It is so interesting that no one worries about the mental state one must be in to deliberately and consciously consume foods and quantities that are proven to produce disease and eventually kill you. If I spend a day eating oreos, ice cream, and pizza to great excess, no one inquires about my…

You are very welcome! Consider that you are crossing a bridge to the destination of happily ever after in your life, and that every time you put your energy into the situation with this guy and driving out of your way to "make yourself available," you're pretty much throwing yourself off that bridge. It's like you say to yourself, "I am blessed with all this extra time on the weekends to make my life even better and more fulfilling so I don't pine so hard for a man to fill my void, but I think I…

I have less anxiety about seeing/texting him these days. Ehh, not so much. I mean, you're trying to control the outcome of this situation by driving 3+ hours every weekend. Control is a symptom of anxiety. We get tired of feeling anxious so we switch to control mode, but that's still an anxiety driven mode. I feel more sure of myself and less anxious about him. Again, not so much. You want to drive 3ish hours a weekend to make yourself more available for a guy who isn't pursuing you otherwise. Y…

The "right" thing to do here is to create a beautiful, healthy life for yourself in your own city. This is what will have him reconsidering you. This will take time since you were crazy for a year. You are chasing this guy and trying to make it more convenient for him, which will only work if he ultimately gets lonely or insecure about his own SMV and decides to settle for you. Don't be settled for, yuck. Work on yourself more. I would go so far as to say don't even drive to him. Next time he sa…

Thank you for sharing this. Yes, one thing I could do is try to wait until a happier, more casual time. I don't know if it's in my nature to be able to pretend like everything is fine until that point. He can read me like a book anyway and I'm the world's worst faker. Plus he senses my upset energy and feeds off of it, creating a rift between us until things get talked through to satisfaction for both of us.

For me, we almost never fight about actual things. We fight about fighting. I love that we agree on so much! But I feel so worn down by fighting about fighting. I really want not to stuff things down or sweep them under the rug, so that we can move on and be authentically happy, but it seems like my negative feelings trigger him into just arguing with me about the premise of my negative feelings. I know that if I don't ask him to hang out or if I can come over I'll never see him because he doesn't go out of his way to see me. Because you've never really given him a chance to need to do that. My advice is to completely stop making it happen so that he can. Keep this up for a good while, like 2-3 months before you decide it's not working. You've probably been the initiator for most of your relationship, so this won't change overnight. See what he does, and if it truly is the case that the …

Hey, for what it's worth, I think it's awesome when we find things that press our buttons. Underneath it, there's something to learn about ourselves. We can ask ourselves why we feel the urgent need to be critical and what about our own selves are we trying to prove or avoid by way of external criticism.

I skimmed a lot of the thread and gleaned some stuff about your background. After putting some thought into it, it sounds like one great option for you is to ask your parents or trusted family member to start setting you up. This is going to be the most obvious way to meet someone who can fulfill your financial security requirement, which is going to be the least likely to find outside of your family's socioeconomic circle. I'm surrounded by high SMV men due to my profession and my city but many of them are just not up to snuff for me. What are the things that are giving you the "not up to snuff" feeling? Once we identify what these things are, we can think about where you can meet men with the qualities you've not been able to find just yet.

Yes! Part of me really doesn't want to compromise on this. What's worse, is I see my friend treating her husband with less and less respect since spending more time with these women. Sometimes I feel kinda sorry for him. She talks about him these days like giving him what he wants would mean giving up her power. I used to work as the outreach director at a highly controversial political campaign that could easily have interview responses taken out of context. The trick is to pick ONE key point that is short and sweet and to answer pretty much every question by returning back to that one key point. If anyone ever wants a little coaching on doing this, I'm happy to give some pointers. Journalism is dead; they should call it agendaism.

It occurred to me yesterday that one way we slip into a victim mentality is when we procrastinate or half-ass. "I can't get to the dishes because I'm so busy with my job." "I can't take care of my appearance because I'm so tired from xyz." It's all BS. Life is not THAT hard. So many things take an hour or less. It is very rare that we can't honestly find an 20 minutes or an hour in our day to do something. I know that I personally have been blaming my schedule or outside obligations for why I fa…

When I was 21, I looked back at my 16 year old self and saw how adorable and fun she was, and I felt badly about my 21 year old self not being as great as my 16 year old self. When I was about 25+, I looked back on my 21 year old self and saw how beautiful I was and how I would never be that young and cute again. One thing that comes to mind is to stop scrolling down my fb feed. It seems like every other post or more by my social network is a meme or rant about being victimized or offended, or glorifies a victim. And then I see posts criticizing people who are too easily offended, and that seems a bit ironic to me. It's just a bad influence that undermines what I want for my own mentality at this time.

It is commendable to want to improve yourself! I strongly believe that deep down, you know exactly what you feel you should improve. Ask your "gut" what those things are (or ask God, if that's how you prefer to seek truth). Start with those things. Ignore anything that makes you feel confused or conflicted about changing for now. I absolutely cannot say this. That would actually be bailing on plans. This is why communication can be very important at times. Yes, it's important to know when to avoid drama, but you're literally watching life pass you by and getting anxiety over it. Let me get this straight, he can make last minute plans that exclude you, or exclude you last minute, but if you do the same (particularly because he has been flaky and sitting around feels pathetic and bad), he gets mad? This is one of the rare cases when I do think a heart to heart is required. It's not healthy to put your life on hold to avoid tension. Completely agree and have found this to be true over and over again. One thing trp men seem to not like to acknowledge is that they do prefer to pursue/chase, and unless they're chumps who have been burned by chasing girls too hard, they pull away when a woman is pursuing their attention in a way that makes them feel pressured or criticized. Waiting on him to invite you to join them but you're feeling neglected in the meantime is an example of this. Definitely recommend making other plans and no…

He keeps telling you what his standards are for your as a wife, but it's not what aligns with your own ideas, so you go on saying he never tells you what his standards are. When he is trying to pull you away from the dishes, his standard for his wife is clearly that she put connecting with him BEFORE the housework. He is pretty clear about what he wants your priorities to be. And you say over and over he's not telling you what his standards are. You obviously feel like you alone are not enough t…

Pizza! Pierogies (spelling?) with potato filling, yum. Get them frozen at the store and sautee some onions and mushrooms to top them with. I like serving them with sour cream. Smoked salt! I put that stuff on everything veggie. Gives it the meat feels. Gnocchi with a chunky pan sauce made of baby spinach or kale, tomatoes, and zucchini. Bonus points if you put the smoked salt all over the gnocchi. Bake that acorn squash with butter and sugar and nutmeg instead of stuffing it with meat. A hearty …

Kava Kava, Gaia brand. The Vitamin Shoppe's website shows you which stores have it in stock, which is how I was able to get it in my hot little hands immediately, but I also found it on Amazon. If you have any questions about using it, feel free to PM me and I'll dump everything I know on you :)

Positives: -Consistently doing what I can to make his/our home a more relaxing environment since he has a very draining job. Sending him to work with a hot breakfast. I love hearing how his male coworkers all feel like they need better girlfriends because they want what he has. Score! :) -Being open and honest with him as soon as I catch myself being controlling. I used to try to make it out like it was his fault that I "had" to be controlling. -I am increasing the number of things I do for him …

I would have a hard time being exclusive with a man who won't commit to a formal title. I want to be a married woman, so I would not shut down my availability while a man decides if he even wants to so much as consider that. Is there an RPW stance on this? That's just my instincts.

Ohhh, good ol' imposter syndrome. Wish I had some advice for you there, but I am plagued by that one all the time :P I was thinking about you just now and realized that you mention tending to your career, and you mention tending to your marriage, but you don't mention what self-care you are doing. Perhaps some regular self care activities, especially after a work day, will soothe the project manager right out of you. I think when I don't take the time to care for myself, I find myself trying to …

I am a career project manager for the last several years, too. I hate it, although I am proud of myself for what I've accomplished. When my career took off and I became a director, it made my life so much worse, not better. I am still a project manager, but I can work from home now which gives me more time to put my SO first. Can you request some work from home days? I am also working towards getting enough of my debt paid off so I don't NEED to make so much money and can get a job that doesn't …

You are quite welcome! I did see that you asked for relationship advice on other subreddits. I find it is very hard to swallow the red pill while also entertaining advice from other sources. The advice you get here will be to surrender, give up the struggle, and become a better person. The advice you get elsewhere will have you believing you can control the situation, either subtly or directly. I don't know about you, but that sounds exhausting to me. Aren't you exhausted with how you've been do…

You think the way to get there is to tell him all this stuff, because everybody says communication is so very important (and girls like to talk). I second this. I also think that women tend to think that the absence of evidence of connection in the moment, such as physical and verbal affection or quality time being spent together, means DISconnection is happening. I am pretty sure that it's not like this for men. Silence or not interacting does not translate to disconnection for a man, I'm prett…

I have learned to catch myself and apologize for this disrespect. It sure is fun watching him come to understand that he is entitled to RESPECT as a man, especially from his woman, and that he doesn't have to feel guilty about it. This idea is beaten out of men in our culture from a very young age. Now when we have sit-coms playing on the television, we're both quick to notice how all the plot lines and jokes are about how men are stupid and irresponsible and women are demanding and perpetually …

Hi there. I relate to a lot of this. Since implementing RPW philosophy more fully in my relationship, a lot of that anxiety and PTSD stuff has gotten a lot better. Throw yourself into supporting and surrendering to your man, and you may find that a lot of the "triggers" fade away. Side note - one of the things I read here that had a big impact on me was that the word "trigger" is victim language to be avoided. Have you read The Surrendered Wife by Laura Doyle? You can get it in eBook format for …

This blog looks great. Is it yours? Thank you for sharing. Do you trust him enough to continue to surrender? Definitely. And now I am working to prove my trust in him by letting him be unapologetically in charge. He says it's not something he got in previous relationships, but he is "in love with all the changes" he is sensing in me. He honestly catches on pretty quick, but after a couple weeks of trying my hardest not to be controlling, I slipped and criticized him for not filling the void with…
