Since our son was 3 or so, I read his bedtime story and tucked him in to bed... 85% of the time. After my wife refused my offer of 50/50 equal parenting time, she countered with 30/70. In response I said look, I do this, that and the other thing for our son. Including reading his bedtime stories. So after reading the letter my attorney sent, she tells me "we're alternating bedtime stories every other night because you're using it against me." In other words she considers me mentioning the fast t…

Thank you. So many people tell me I have no chance just because. I appreciate it.

I'm afraid that my wife will muddy up the waters and lead the courts to be reluctant to grant 50/50 and at the same be reluctant to award custody to dad, therefore she wins an unequal arrangement by default. I'm thinking it can show the court one of us is committed to Co-Parenting and one is not.

I'm not gay either but after dealing with their garbage since what? 14 years old. Then being married to a narcissist abuser who i have to battle with to maintain my fatherhood. I cant figure out a way to please them. Not for everyone but I can't imagine going through this ever again. Shoot, I wouldn't be able to afford it another time.

Unfortunately its war. It doesn't have to be but alot of them are hellbent on reducing fathers to visitors. Perhaps they really believe its best for the child, perhaps they're controlling and selfish. I cant understand it honestly.

First thing I would do is get an attorney. Ask him or her what the custody laws are in your province and local area. Ask him or her what your odds are and what is typical. At the very least, go on consultations and get some knowledge. We have to get a lawyer even when it's amicable and seemingly in agreement. You can get royally screwed otherwise. I agree with you, this idea that we can revisit it is a ploy to get you to give up your children's rights to a full time father. She can promise to re…

You need to mediate with an attorney by your side. I don't even think they have to revisit it if they don't want to. I think you're just taking her word for it. I cant help but think she's trying to get you to agree to 30/70 without having to pay to go to litigation. Don't be bullied by your ex or the mediator. The mediator isn't on your side, they want to settle the matter one way or another. Lawyer up if you haven't already and don't agree to anything you don't want. What state are you in? How…

In new york the parent with 51% of the time or more, regardless of income, gets 17% for one child. No sliding scale. In the case of 50/50, the higher earner pays. I offered that in the last round of negotiations. Haven't gotten a response but i domt expect her to agree.

Im kind of essential too. Going into a practicality empty office though. Sorry to hear that. How do you feel about it? Do you think it's justified or just spite?

Thank you brother. That's it for me too. Equal time and decision making is where I've staked my flag. They've already offered to forego child support if I quit. I said nooooooo deal. Being his father is priceless and I won't bargain away my son's right to a father.

Oh brother this is the most positive news I've heard. Thanks man. I asked my attorney what the odds are and he said he give me a good idea once the judge is chosen. But this is great news. I've been a full time, super involved dad and i wanna keep my job. Its the best job i ever had ;)

I have a very good and well known lawyer. To tell you the truth, I don't care about money. If we could craft a deal where we share all time and responsibility for our boy equally, I could see forgoing all monetary compensation. Child support is so screwy that if either one of us had to pay, we would both be bankrupted. Seems to me that our son needs two financially viable parents, not one homeless and another flush with cash. I hope it works out. Thanks.

Thank you man. I hope you're doing alright with your outcome and the time you have with your children is amazing. Thank you for sharing your story. I appreciate it. My wife told me a number of times, have fun with him every other weekend because that's all you're going to get!" Shook me to the core.

Thank you. Yeah I don't lose my temper. Sometimes I think she wants me to. She removed the shower heads so I couldn't bathe, makes me sleep on the couch, put a lock on the laundry room door, put a lock on our bedroom door and badmouths me. I'm cool as a cucumber and always have my audio recorder going.

This is uplifting because I saw a 2018 study that showed New York typically awards 30%. Whereas Washington state was even worse. Thank you for the support! Any tips?

OMG. I can't even fathom that. A lot of decent men say that if you want equal time, it can be an uphill battle but if you fight for it and avoid any major mistakes, you'll probably get it. I think having equal time with each competent and loving parent is best for a child.

You cant argue it isnt getting better. Single fathers are better positioned now than at any time in the last 100 years.

Hey boss. I initiated divorce in October 2019. My lawyer advised me not to move out. I haven't. My wife has done everything under the sun to make me so crazy I leave. I've had the laundry room doors padlocked, the showerheads removed, my clothes takrn out of the bedroom, forced to sleepon the couch and roles I've traditionally had raising our son usurped. This can happen. Don't take the bait. She's doing this to get me to quit or provoke a confrontation in which she can "feel threatened." Kerp y…

Mine is doing every petty thing under the sun to get me out of our home. Removed the shower heads so I cant shower, padlocked the laundry room door so I cant do our son's and my laundry, trying to keep me from participating in our son's education, trying ti keep me from going to appointments, not letting me read his bedtime stories like I used to do and on and on. She called the police on me once because I wouldn't leave when she kicked me out. They couldn't do anything but then and there I deci…

Sorry. I mean, what is the reasoning behind giving her 60%?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
