False convictions haven't been included for estimating due to lack of data. There have been few convictions in India where the guy was later proven innocent after appeals to higher court. Some courts have wrongfully convicted the man without properly checking evidence of his innocence, despite directions from the Supreme Court to avoid such hasty convictions.

Damn. Things are worse than I thought. In my country (India) I've often come across cases where a boy was forced to penetrate an adult woman and yet the boy (a minor that didn't give consent) was charged with rape. There is zero legal protection for female-on-male sexual violence in India in case of adults. Your data conflates “false” with “not proven” in order to inflate rates. You didn't choose to clearly define what qualified as a "false case". You left it too ambiguous. That's a direct contradiction to my methodology. And you've brought in multiple irrelevant and contradictory stuff which I won't bother addressing. We could exclude pending cases / unknowns. Could've been useful, not something you chose to do though from what I saw That's literally the opposite of my methodology. I've excluded all unknowns. You need to take a better look at the methodology page on the website I linked. The percentages come from estimation using only cases with solid conclusion as sample set. This only aims to be as accurate as possible in face of a missing set of unclear data (all those pending, withdrawn, acquitted due to lack of evidence, etc). This is an estimation based on a sample set that's selected to get as close as possible to the truth. So any set that's inconclusive has to be omitted no matter how large. This is literally how demographic surveys are conducted all over the world. You don't interview every citizen. Quashed cases are omitted due to the quashing process being quicker. But they're included in counting raw numbers each year. And there are a lot more factors that affect a police investigation process than just record…

I mean that reporting and conclusion numbers don't coincide because every case doesn't conclude within the same year of reporting. Takes different durations. You're expecting the patterns you see in reported numbers. These are not reported ones. You're assuming only rural areas are outside these metros. Moreover, this isn't the whole stat. These are only concluded cases each year. If you apply the percentages in 2023 to reported cases in the same year, it's approx 60,000 for 'fake' cases (those 3 categories of final reports) in rape, sa and attempted rape combined. Even more when you add quashed cases which are not include for estimating the percentage.

This only counts cases that conclude each year not the ones that are reported. There's no data to trace back each final report to the year it was originally filed.
