I have been thinking about the same thing. It's a ticking time bomb. To be honest, I'm going to put any prospective partner through every single test I can think (loyalty, polygraph, values, belief system etc). I don't care, I'm not taking any more chances or wasting time. And if they're not down for it, catch you later. Then if they pass it all, I'll be watching the hormones very closely.

Started changing at 39/40. But at 42, man, like a totally different person.

All I can offer is that I too have seen the fundamental shifts in my MS diagnosed STBXW. Started with COVID lockdowns, then an MS diagnosis in 2021. Come 2024 we were in therapy and then it's like a switch flipped and she became a different person. She abandoned the marriage shortly after that, started going out like an 18 year old, no empathy for me or the kids etc. Just discarded me like nothing and then went to war with me. 2 years have gone by, she's not as nasty as previous but there is a s…

Every system in the West needs a complete overhaul. That's the bottom line. Separately, I just found out my friend died this morning (possibly suicide). He shared all his troubles with me and they all related to his ex-wife and his meddling/argumentative sisters (he had 8 of them). He was the only male in the family. What's the common theme here? Women. And ironically, they all turned on each other blaming each other for his passing.

Similiar with me. I think it's because; 1. We've been traumatised 2. We've seen how fucked up modern women are 3. We're now guarded 4. Our standards have gone up significantly

$700k in legals?! This is the highest I've ever heard of. I really hope the asset pool is millions aka worth it.

Totally agree dating in 2026 is horrendous. Like the absolute worst. Apps and the rise of masculine women have completely fucked everything. Western countries are truly screwed and the data supports it. I'm open to non-western women now.

Similiar to others, there's been a lot said and done they have decimated everything. You can't just undo that easily. Women are driven by feelings, not by logic. When will her feelings change again? It's a massive risk tbh. Is the risk worth taking for 5 kids? I'd say maybe. But, the only real way it would ever work is if you both undergo relationship training (do's, dont's, needs, communication style, love language etc) AND if a 3rd party is involved (i.e. coach/mediator/therapist). The 3rd par…

Just as I was thrown to the curb, I returned the favour. Her birthday came and I did absolutely nothing for the first time in 14 years.

Unbelievable I agree. Plan the exit bro. You have the upper hand as of now.

My situation as well. Lost her job, didn't pay parking fines, started smoking, going out, sleeping over at people's houses. 14 years together 7 married 2 kids Zero empathy, zero accountability, fabricated reasons, found a million faults in my personality and played the victim

Noticed the exact same thing. 14 years together.

Not yet divorced but the whole family is avoidant. 14 years accounted for nothing. Their daughter chose to separate and break our family, not me. I want absolutely nothing to do with them.

Child support varies per country, income levels etc. All based on their formulas. I was paying AUD $1600 a month at 50/50. She increased her salary and it's dropped to $1300. No alimony even though she has threatened for it.

That's what mine said. Even signed docs at that. Then all of a sudden I get a lawyer letter of her wanting 60%. I told her that I would see her in court and would fight it. Suddenly it's back down to 50% now. Re your second paragraph - 100% agree. It's beyond a slap in the face. It's the same story all over the planet.

As someone in similiar shoes, these women are cooked and highly volatile. Do not trust her words, ever. Actions > Words. Lawyer up and start thinking strategically before you get taken advantage of. Also, % of care regarding the kids is going to matter significantly. If you have a low % and that's why she works part time, that's not going to favor you. PS. I'm about to lose half of everything

It's the same playbook over and over again Mid life crisis "I'm not in love with you anymore" Drastic personality changes No consideration given to anything No accountability No attempt to repair. Avoidant type personalities. Horrendous communication Fabricated or over exaggerated reasoning for their exit

Yep, covert narcissist. Even worse than a typical narcissist as everything is hidden under layers discreetly.
