It’s important to point out that someone contributing 50% of 60k is much more of a practical burden on them than 50% of 800k. You can easily live on 400k. 30k? Not so much. That’s why we have a progressive tax bracket in the US instead of a flat rate across the board

1) yeah the more specifically you lol at a certain location for these issues the better. Every country has its own issues. 2) reread the analogy. The one cup of water is analogous to the bandwidth that society has for dealing with these problems

I’m curious, do you actively try to counteract that somehow if you can recognize it?

I don’t disagree with this at all. I think as a society we need to focus on specific problems more for men and specific problems more for women.

No I’ve had this account for a long time but have only started posting recently and I’m a dude so I thought maybe I have some unique insight when posting on a subreddit that is supposed to be advocating for me and because I feel like I’ve done a lot of thinking on this topic from this perspective over the years.

I understand that that may be an issue (sounds believable but I can’t say I’ve seen it cause I only started going through this sun today so I haven’t had time to recognize general trends/patterns) but at the end of the day I think it’s still on the people calling me a troll to actually look into my post before calling me a troll and disregarding any conflicting ideas I may bring to the table. It’s not a healthy mindset

I think domestic violence from women to men is much less threatening on average than domestic violence from men to women. So I think it makes sense to look at them differently and prioritize them differently.

I mean people are calling for this post to be removed and writing me off as a troll when I’m taking time to actually try to learn peoples views. So I don’t think it’s the most welcoming. Not to mention I’m bombarded w downvotes and some (but not most) are really getting salted and calling me names.

I agree, I think a lot of mens issues are swept under the rug today. I think society emphasizes resolving injustices facing women more though because, historically, there have been way more injustices facing them. Maybe think of it this way: you have two plants, plant A and plant B. Let’s say you leave both plants outside in flower pots in summer and you’ve got a big cup of water to use per day for watering the plants. If you only water plant B for five days, then plant A is going to whither and…

I think it’s true that always one upping another group of people is not always productive but it’s still important to note differences just for the sake of being conscious of other peoples’ struggles and making sure that you are a well rounded person that is able to be grateful of what they have while recognizing injustices too. Also with that being said, I don’t think we can really just say “violence in general” though when we are asking which group is more at risk for falling victim to it. For…

/r/MensRights18/09/22 11:25 PM

I agree that it’s important for men to have a space to talk about issues but it needs to for sure not be toxic. Don’t you think being surrounded by a group of people that aren’t outwardly concerned about womens issues and who despise women will eventually have a mental impact on young men in here? They see all of these people who have this anti woman sentiment because of an (either real or perceived) sense of misandry coming from women and they will start to think “hey maybe these guys are onto …

I agree with you man when it comes to men having harder times fighting sexual allegations at least when it comes to the sake of your reputation. But it’s still important to compare the two and be aware of the differences and disparities between struggles of men and women so that young men on this sun can be cognizant that women have issues too. I don’t want a ton of young douchebags running around ignorant to the problems that women face since all they hear on Reddit is “mens problems this, mens…

Bro what the hell are you talking about this is a legit post. It’s fuckin sad if u guys can’t take someone showing concern about this seriously. Not everyone is out to get u and troll you bro ur goin down the wrong path if that’s ur daily mindset

I didn’t specifically name this community cause I wasn’t specifically calling this community out for bolstering people. However I think that if this community is all that one is exposed to (headlines about false sexual assault allegations toward men, men being physically assaulted, etc) it would give the false impression that men are having it much much tougher than women in these departments, therefore indirectly minimizing women’s struggles too. I guess I could sum it up by saying that this co…

I’m not opposed to people being held accountable necessarily it’s the issue of saying things that put down women that I am actively against.
/r/MensRights18/09/22 08:40 PM

Yes they are too. I never defended those. But we can’t say two wrongs make a right and justify some of the horrific shit he says by saying “but they do it on the other side too!”

Communities that minimize the struggles of other groups
/r/MensRights18/09/22 08:35 PM

I just meant acknowledging problems that men have higher rates of facing while not minimizing the fact that women experience the same, even if at a lower rate.
/r/MensRights18/09/22 08:16 PM

That’s true. I think it’s very important to create more supportive and positive resources for men while also validating the issues that other groups face too.

He isn’t only holding both accountable though, he’s also actively putting down women which is the problem. And they r out there. I’m not involved in this sphere a ton so I can’t provide any links unfortunately

Not always, but it can. Many traditional views are sexist. The two aren’t mutually exclusive

ATMs in what way? I know lots of and have dated lots of women and I have discovered that the main person telling me that I need to pay for dinner or stuff like that is myself (mainly instilled by both my mom and dad).

I don’t think you should look at it so transactionally
/r/MensRights18/09/22 06:50 PM

Fair enough, I can’t force you to talk ab anything. I do encourage u tho to try to branch out and look deeper into the value that women provide and how you can grow to really appreciate them. I think it helps make people happier
/r/MensRights18/09/22 06:48 PM

Disclaimer: I didn’t look at what the link goes to. I think people react more violently toward men hitting women than the other way around because men generally have more of a capacity to seriously harm a woman than the other way around. So the severity in response kind of makes sense.
/r/MensRights18/09/22 06:44 PM

Also I feel like I see a lot of resentment toward women cause they can use makeup and plastic surgery to look “better” while men don’t really have that option as much (or at least it isn’t as socially acceptable). do you have any thoughts on this? Not sure if u share those thoughts or not

I’m not trying to be rude when I say this but what do you mean? I’m close friends w a dude who is way shorter than me and yeah the dating scene is tougher for him but they don’t treat him like a worm or anything
/r/MensRights18/09/22 06:38 PM

How come, could you elaborate on that a bit? I don’t think that mindset will lead to a well rounded person who values men and women alike. You are boiling them down to baby makers which is anti-equality itself.
/r/MensRights18/09/22 06:30 PM

Do you think it’s healthy to see women as a means to an end (reproduction) like that? I feel like that really strips down a lot of what makes them human.
/r/MensRights18/09/22 06:27 PM

I think society and communities that bolster those people are both to blame.
/r/MensRights18/09/22 06:25 PM

Wdym to be seen as human? We’re still seen as human if short, some girls just aren’t that attracted to short dudes as much.

Your original comment just kinda felt like you were saying “the end goal of interacting w women is to reproduce with them so why not skip the leg surgery and just have a child via surrogate” which I don’t agree with. Is that an accurate characterization or no? I don’t wanna twist ur words
/r/MensRights18/09/22 06:19 PM

Idk I feel like it neglects the positive and loving experience you could have with a woman if you have a child and raise it with them.
/r/MensRights18/09/22 06:17 PM

That is terrible, I’m sorry to hear that. I do think that there is an issue with men not being taken seriously with that.

Looking at the beauty industry, there has only relatively recently been a push toward body acceptance for women who are bigger. I agree that both sexes are under pressure to look “beautiful” but I do think that “looking pretty” is pushed more for women. After all, womens clothes even show off more of your body, pressuring you to conform to a certain body type or else you won’t “look good”. The cosmetic surgery industry is also much more prevalent for women, which speaks to how they are feeling p…

Hey I mean I appreciate the consistency. How come you wanna skip to the reproduction? Why cut all the other stuff out?

Yeah I agree a more uplifting take on this would be good for the mental health of those subbed and for the general social direction that hyper-exposure to this sub would push people in. Thanks for the interesting and constructive reply! :)

I’m not really as concerned about directly misogynistic posts here as I am about this sub being a stepping stone/pipeline toward a more fucked up anti-woman ideology. If you surround yourself with posts that say you are a victim and that you are more or less being done dirty by women then I’m concerned that men without a balanced viewpoint will develop hateful ideas.
/r/MensRights18/09/22 05:51 PM
1

Yeah bro I thought I just said I’m asking about this sub. I’m not advocating for hating men I’m just trying to have a convo about how this sub may create harmful thoughts in the brain of a man who’s main impressions of women are associated w negative headlines (a lot of what is posted here).
/r/MensRights18/09/22 05:47 PM

How do you think that can be combatted?

Why do you say this subs only got a tiny bit as much?

Yeah bro i worry about anyone developing hateful ideologies. But my post was asking about this sub in particular..? Not sure why u flipped it

Ok then lemme ask, would you ever date a woman who is seeing other men?
/r/MensRights18/09/22 05:40 PM

If there are lots of men that believe what he says at face value though, does it really functionally matter if he’s playing a character or not? He’s also never clearly stated (to my knowledge) when he’s playing a character. Can I also ask why you don’t think he’s misogynistic based on what he’s said?
/r/MensRights18/09/22 05:38 PM

This may sound rude but not my intent- do u value a deep/rewarding relationship with a woman?
/r/MensRights18/09/22 05:31 PM

Man I know the science of it, I’m asking if u were actually saying that’s a based strategy
/r/MensRights18/09/22 05:22 PM

I feel like there is probably someone else out there who could do this without putting down woman and being demeaning/dehumanizing to them. Why platform him when u can find another person supporting men without without saying hateful things about women?
/r/MensRights18/09/22 05:21 PM

Could u elaborate on “Women have no idea what that’s like”? Kinda feel like they have it harder than men tbh
