It's not a question of owed. It's about mutually supporting the people who make up the society you depend on. There's more nuance to this argument. A small dude who runs frequently will be able to outrun a fat dude who never runs and just lift weights. If both of those guys suddenly have to see who can say, carry a 50 pound weight the furthest the odds will favour the fat guy. It depends on what the task is, but I suppose an objective metric would be VO2 max. Whatever someone does though there's a body fat limit where going past it doesn't improve anything and possibly makes you worse.

I don't know why the superheavy weight classes get spotlighted in these discussions but in olympic lifting the highest weight class has a little + on the end. And since standing in one place and heaving a barbell doesn't take a lot of athleticism, some lifters choose to get as big as possible. Mass does move mass but they're not exactly healthy. All other weight classes will try to carry as little fat as possible.
