Drunk driving is a relevant example since we are talking about intoxication. Many drunk drivers are charged with manslaughter instead of murder, since being drunk can lessen their responsibility. You are thinking of this in terms of a decision based on outcome, and not treatment of a medical condition. I'm not trans, but I try to understand their perspective. There are absolutely people who love to be squeaky wheels and rejoice in writing strongly worded letters. As opposed to what he did do (posting it here), which won't be. You underestimate the power of social media, and overestimate the power of a single person. Organizations that serve a lot of people will always get complaints.
