That was definitely a reason why I left my marriage - I didn’t want my child to think that it was a prime example of a normal relationship. So wonderful that they have a healthier example of a thriving relationship in your new situation!

Thanks for sharing your experience and I’m so glad that it went as well as it did! Sounds like your previous experience was so, so awful with your ex 😳 has your current partner met your children now?

Hi there, totally fair comments 😉 and great in an ideal world. My relationship with my ex ended many years before the actual split, hence the new relationship which began afterwards. And then the trauma of dealing with a controlling ex led to health issues which delayed the divorce, plus my ex has tried to delay it repeatedly. But this year I’ve decided not to allow any more delays, and my lawyer is drawing up the paperwork to file for divorce. It took a lot of personal work for almost a decade …

I’ve been following this sub which has caught my interest because my goal is to increase my sense of self worth, which comes and goes. But when I list my qualities, I know it should be consistently high. I’ve been in a relationship with a guy who meets a lot of HV criteria for a year plus, but I have observed my own insecurities eating at me off and on. Lately I’ve been feeling more like I’m observing him as a potential longer term partner and evaluating him to see if he is worth a bigger commit…

I had a dad but he had too busy of a career to teach me that stuff and honestly stereotypical gender roles were also a big thing in my house growing up (eye roll). I’m totally going to watch this guy’s videos! And yes, people can make themselves better people and break cycles.... or they can perpetuate them.

Thank you for acknowledging it could also be a woman. I was just wondering where non-hetero women fit into this sub.

I did this once 😞 I was scared he might rape me because the guy literally chased me around his apartment when I tried to leave. He was adamant. He thought it was a fun game. When I didn’t think I was going to be allowed to leave... I gave him a blow job to keep him off of me and then get out 😳

I am new to and curious about this sub. I am in a relationship with someone who definitely seems to be a HVM for about one year. He basically taught me how I should be treated. I struggle with feeling as high value as I should however from time to time and would like to work on this. I have tried to keep myself busy with my own goals and life throughout and am a personal growth oriented person. I’m kind of feeling like my insecurity is due to needing more focus on physical fitness for me which w…
