Yeah, it kinda sucks at first that you don't have anyone to watch with, but over time, I found that it didn't really matter all that much to me. I was just happy to be able to watch whatever I wanted whenever I wanted! :)

I really enjoyed being able to put something down and finding it exactly where I left it later. Also, the house was always clean, I got to eat Tacos whenever I wanted, and I could blast my music whenever I felt like it. The TV was always free, the thermostat was set perfectly, always, without complaint. Oh man. So many good things. It's the little things. ;)

In my opinion, and as a divorced person who is now happily remarried, divorce should not be your first option except in cases of abuse or criminality. The first step is definitely therapy or some kind of counseling, then go from there. Going the route of divorce means you're most likely going to lose a lot of your money and time with the kids; also means more than likely she'll be the one to end up 'raising' them, so decide if that's what's best for the kids. Based on what you've shared here, I …

Divorce was a bit different for me. :/ You don't care for me enough to cry - John Moreland https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96D-C_MIV_U

The first step is definitely therapy, then go from there. Divorce means you're going to lose a lot of your money to her anyways, and you'll also probably lose a lot of time with the kids, and she'll still more than likely be the one to end up 'raising' them. Based on what you've shared here, I really don't think the nuclear option is your best option at this point. I can't think of a court that would let you keep your money and take the kids. Therapy is the first step, both individual therapy an…

Are you certain 'shy' is the correct term? Maybe you're just introverted, and that's absolutely ok. Check out the book "Quiet" by Susan Cain, there's a lot of power to being an introvert, and even more to accepting what you are and evolving in a way that makes sense. (And maybe you're not, that's cool too!) I am very introverted. I was CRUSHED when I got divorced. 3 years on and it still hurts, but that's ok. For me, I found that I actually LOVED living alone, and that it was really about findin…

Depends. In Utah, judges won't listen to a child under 10. 10-14 depends on the judge and child, but majority of the time 14 and over is the only time it's really taken into consideration.

NAL. This was asked before, so my comment will be very much the same, but I think it bears repeating (I'm in the US). I keep mine on a string on the wall. It's a good reminder of how things went bad, and on more than one occasion has helped me either get through a depressive state, or not act like an ass. I didn't think in a million years that my first marriage would end, and it's a stark reminder that it did, and my current one very well could too. I will give it to my son (from the first marri…

NAL Usually in the case of any kind of visitation or split custody, there is either a law, regulation, or addition to your initial decree and agreement that states both parties are required to inform the other of their address and any change in where the children will be staying permanently. This is the case here in UT, and it's spelled out very clearly on our decree with a time limitation for informing the other party. Check around and find out if that's the case in your area and/or on your agr…

I didn't think in a million years that my first marriage would end, and it's a stark reminder that it did, and my current one very well could too. I will give it to my son (from the first marriage) when he's older if he wants it. Not as a wedding ring, but again, as a good reminder.

This is excellent advice. I found myself in the same situation a few years back. Can't stress how much I agree with the avoiding 'hook-ups' and dating apps, even after the divorce is final. One of the biggest surprises for me was how much I love living alone. Get a therapist. I get my kid every other week, it's a direct 50/50 split, he gets all my attention when he's here and we have a lot of fun together. Having a therapist was good to head off a lot of the more difficult questions he asks (he'…
