I may have come across as a bit strong there - I do agree they are not the best option for some people. However, with careful and responsible spending they should not be out of reach to all but very few people. At the end of the day all credit lenders are sharks, so it is imperative that people do know the risks...

I disagree. I use my credit card for everything other than purchases in Costco - as they don't accept any credit card other than Amex. I get cashback and monthly rewards with my credit card, and pay it off as soon as the statement comes in. Therefore I save money by using the credit card AND I'm insulated from fraud with regards to my debit card. Self control is important - you are an idiot if you overspend with money you don't have.

Ironically I found this subreddit - I'm relatively new to Reddit - by someone trying to belittle the sub by saying something like "I can't believe /MGTOW exists". I've been acutely aware of MGTOW for a few years thanks to Dave Cullen on the ComputingForver YouTube channel so I was glad that troll pointed me in the right direction!
