Ask yourself, were you a leader? Personally I don't see it here. But when I have been in situations before where violence is going to be the worst option, I just put a big smile on my face, extend my hand, introduce myself, and make nice with the other person. Maybe even throw a thank you out there. It gets angry people off balance and can defuse a tense situation.

Yeah man with your edits it seems that you're not really picking up what I and others are laying down. STFU and focus on improving yourself. Dramatic back and forth phone calls are the opposite of what you need. Read the sidebar materials until things click. Took me months to get it.

You're kind of all over the place so it's important to relax a bit. It's a long journey you are in and you'll stumble a lot, but just keep pushing. As for right now, consider this advice: act like everything is completely normal and don't address any of this with the wife. STFU about the process, don't explain anything or make grand statements. If she asks about all the stuff you said, just reply that you were in a great mood and then change the subject. At some point you could send a statement …

This is a great comment and I hope the OP reads and rereads this over again. IIf you act like a kid and call your wife a childish name, then it's okay to apologize because you're a man-child anyway.

I've been someplace in life that's close to where you describe. My main advice is to laugh. Laugh at all the stupid crap she says. Amplify everything and try to make it into a joke that you're only in on. Like with your hair barber, next time the wife brings it up make a joke like 'is it normal for a female stylist to run your shoulders after a haircut? No? What about sitting in my lap so she can cut the front?' And then you walk away laughing. The worst thing you can do is engage in an argument…

There's always much more to any story than is ever told. For MRP, I decided to stop lurking and contribute to this forum since I read it daily. I hope that what I write will be useful to a person who is earlier in their own journey. To provide more background, I went from a tired marriage heading towards divorce to something that adds a lot of value to my life. I stumbled and made mistakes along the way, but damnit I turned this ship around. Everything in a marriage gets compounded. When you are…

My choice, but I'm a light sleeper and have trouble staying in the same room as a baby, especially if it's being nursed. We will transition kid to a crib in another room soon.

Stop seeking validation from others.

I think you could have played that a bit more stoic. More along the lines of 'I'm not talking to you when you're being insulting.' Otherwise, you are entering her argumentative frame by fighting. Glad it worked out though.

Thank you for supporting my point in a roundabout way. You've probably spent a good amount of time explaining RP concepts to your son. I'm guessing but he's now a teenager in high school and is mature enough to get it. Would a prepubescent kid have any idea of the logic behind RP? As the OP said, his son didn't get it. I'd encourage the OP to teach his son like /u/bluepillprofessor so that he can avoid the mistakes many of us made when we were dating. Otherwise, what's the point?

You practiced a sexual strategy in front of your kid? Your son, who has no idea of these concepts, may interpret this as validation that he can also be disrespectful to his mother. Is that the type of role model you want to be ?

I agree with your premise up to a point. I think it's okay to stop sex if it's starfish quality. I've done it when for whatever reason my wife is putting in zero effort. Let her know that you'd rather get not waste your time than settle for the bare minimum. Turn it into a bit of dread game / establishing quality in yourself. Obviously you don't turn it down if she is bringing the A game.

What do you get out the relationship that you cannot get somewhere else ?

I appreciate this post and plan to refer back to it as I move forward. Thank you for the introduction on stoicism and for the expansion on some of its concepts.

Get a vasectomy. Otherwise you are playing into her frame.

Take her on an activity that you would enjoy more than she does. If you really hold frame, then what she gets out of it would be your attention for a little while. I'm not suggesting going fishing, but maybe you start some home repair project that you have backburnered for a while and have her be around you.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
