I wish there was a way to get actual numbers on how common this sort of thing is. It seems to me like it would be hard to get concrete data. My main issue with anecdotes like yours is that you could easily have been fired justly, but see yourself as the victim. There's no way for any of us to know.

Oh? So you are bothered by a book that's obviously written as misleading propaganda? Maybe I did misjudge you.

Yeah, you don't seem like the kind of person who would be bothered by lies that benefit you.

Oh I see! Yeah, I can see how you'd think it was him talking. Also, if you look at the source he only put one line break in. On Reddit that doesn't actually work to put in a line break. So it's even more confusing because the lines aren't separated even though I'm sure he thought they would be when he typed it out.

So he's right that men complain? You seem to be trying to argue that complaining isn't unjustified, but the person you responded to wasn't saying that in the first place.

It doesn't have to make sense. You just have to show that you believe the same things everyone else here does.

Honestly my comment isn't aimed at you. It's aimed at the people who conditionally agree with only the parts of logically consistent arguments that serve their own emotional biases. I have a lot more respect for your opinion than I do for the people who downvoted you when you were talking about men putting up with domestic violence and then upvoted you when you mentioned that you think the same thing about women. Your views are at least logically consistent. Theirs are just gender wars emotional…

And just like that all the support for male domestic abuse victims vanished from the MensRights subreddit. All it took was some dude saying he had no sympathy for female victims either. If you guys wondered why it's so hard to get men's issues to go mainstream just look at this thread. Embarrassing.

No, I don't agree. Men currently have the exact same rights women do when it comes to a fetus in their own body. If you're mad that men can't get pregnant, then as I said before, that's a biological inequality. You should be mad at God or Darwin, not the legal system. As things stand, women are the only ones who can carry children. That doesn't mean you get to offload all your responsibility onto them. I get it, you'd like for men to be able to have a say in whether women get an abortion, but th…

The problem as I see it is you're trying to solve a biological inequality, but only going halfway. After all, the unfairness here isn't legal, it's biological. A pregnant man would have the same rights and responsibilities as a pregnant woman, but biology doesn't work that way. In other words, in a society where men and women both got pregnant the problem would vanish. In a situation involving an inherent unsolvable inequality like this you have to ask yourself what your goal is. It seems to me …

It's in the census data. The vast majority of single custodial parents are women, and delinquency rates on child support is comparable between the sexes with women more likely to be partially delinquent and men being more likely to be entirely delinquent. Thus there are far more fathers with zero involvement in their child's lives than mothers. I'm curious, did you have evidence that mothers don't take responsibility when you made your ealier comment? If not, why did you suddenly need it now?

The majority of custody agreements are settled out of court, meaning fathers don't want to be the caregiver as often as mothers do. Even if courts awarded custody more often to fathers than mothers, (which is true in some states), there would still be more female caregivers.

Women do take responsibility for their children. That's why they comprise the majority of primary caregivers. In the US the mother can legally abandon her child at the nearest firestation or hospital no questions asked. Fathers can do the same thing. The only reason you "think" only women can do that is because women are usually the primary caregiver, and only the primary caregiver can do that. Pretty much all the things you're angry about stem from the fact that there are so many shitty fathers…

Statistically mothers do take responsibility. It's fathers who comprise the vast majority of deadbeats. I know you guys probably don't want to hear that though.

Make it to where men can only go to jail if rape is proved in a court of law. You know, how literally every other crime works. Is there some research I'm not aware of that shows that rape accusations are more likely than other criminal accusations to result in a false conviction? Edit: lol, I didn't think so.

You mean like the time Snoop Dog did this and no one cared? God it's secondhand embarrassing watching people like you get upset over nothing, thinking you understand how the world works.

There are some conversations you simply can't have without talking about the gender aspect of certain phenomena. For example 90% of murderers are male, and most murder victims are also male. However, most domestic murder victims are female. If you can't talk about the social dynamics that lead to these outcomes then you'll never make any progress preventing intimate partner violence. There's a reason men make up such a high percentage of murderers, and if your goal is to address murders, it's pr…

I see. So you agree that there's no evidence that additional harsh punishments for those crimes would solve anything. You think the solution is judicial reform?

Pretty much, except a convicted person is much more likely to be guilty than an investigated but not convicted person is to be innocent. At least, that's how the justice system is supposed to work. So even if you are found not guilty you still have a trial of public opinion which is still damaging. Which is why we should have harsh penalties for wrongful accusations. As far as I know most countries already have a tort system for damages based on libel, slander, or defamation as well as penalties…

The first part doesn't even make sense. Courts don't "prove" that people are innocent in the first place. Like, as a kid I definitely shoplifted gummy bears from a supermarket once; just because I never got prosecuted for it doesn't mean it never happened. None of the post makes sense.

Nah dude. More than 10 years ago in 2008, I was in some feminist sociology class to fulfil an elective requirement for my Physics B.S. They showed a video about toxic masculinity where it was made very clear that it was something being done to men by society, and not something individual men are to blame for. Meanwhile MRA's and everyone even remotely associated with them were telling me that toxic masculinity wasn't real and that feminists who wanted men to be able to express weakness and vulne…

I think that there's not enough information in this video to know what was happening. Maybe you're right, but if so why did he have to step closer to do it? Guess it's not so clear cut after all. Could go either way. It's funny how quickly I was proven right about people assigning blame based on incomplete information. Just took one comment. Good job man. I'm also amused by how emotional you are about this. Just a heads up, you'll do a lot better in life if you keep a cool head and try to discus…

I didn't assign blame. I made a factual statement that I felt was relevant. It DOES look like he pushed her first. That doesn't mean that this is all there is to the story and in my opinion a light shove wouldn't justify a slap. However, the other comments on this post suggest you are in the minority when you say that people shouldn't assign blame based on incomplete information. People seem to be quite happy to assign blame as long as the person they don't like is the one getting blamed.
