It seems useful to ask myself the following question: "What is my ideal DGAF mentality?". Mine comes with much much more honesty/openess towards others. If you genuinely don't care about what others think of you, there is no reason to hide anything anymore. That is a huge weight lifted regardless of the end goal. Thank you for making me think about this important question, I want to understand it better.

You forgot about the most important thing in everyone's life: sleep.

Ask them if they'd like for you to draw them something with it. I think we all have something we could potentially be made fun of for. It's all to do with confidence and owning it. Focus on YOUR issue with it, and other people's issue with it will disappear.

In these kind of situations, people either jump to conclusions, or they try to understand your point of view. In either situation, you worrying about it doesn't make a difference.

Definitely man. It hurts in the short term, but better now than later, because now you can actually do something about it. It's tough, I'm in a similar situation, but that makes me feel like I am growing as a person!

If you weren't honest with yourself, you wouldn't even be working on these issues, get it bro!

That's fair, OP wasn't really honest with the whole "I have abundance" schpiel. I have a similar issue and I lie to myself with the thought "I don't want girls that much, Im just different". I appreciate the response and I'll try to be honest if I make my own post.

I have been very much like OP and am genuinely curious as to the use of this response. I'm assuming you haven't been in the situation described and don't have any advice to give so why even respond with this? I don't see the purpose.

I really appreciate you trying to understand more, and to challenge your perspective / beliefs. I think it is something we need in life, and even more so in this subreddit.

I think the idea is that people find out or start to really understand TRP after they go through some sort of eye opening experience.

Have you ever read a book like "A New Earth" or "The power of now" by Eckhart Tolle? It's a sort of westernized version of zen buddhism that stands on the following idea: "Living in the present moment is the only way to be peaceful. The incessant stream of thoughts is what stops you from being in the present moment and being in your default state of peacefulness."

How do you work on something like this? I recently picked up on "The charisma myth" and it talks about things like slowing down your talking pace. Anything you would recommend?

I live in NY as well and have been in a similar situation to you. I recently decided to try new hobbies to both meet new people and for myself. I picked up volleyball, piano, and am currently looking to try many more things. I am making a lot of acquaintances and few friends because of this. You ever have things you wanted to try but were never able to? Now's the time. If you need people to go with, hit me up and I might me down!

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
