I’m not a PA yet but I think it’s a very solid route to take. Less stressful than being a doc and you’re still making very good money. As much as I’d love to be an MD it’s not the most realistic route for me. So seeing as your younger and not as dumb as I was, it may be worth it to go full send on becoming a doctor. But it’s up to you to weigh the pros and cons. NPs seem to have a brighter future than PAs do at the moment. So definitely look into the NP route as well.

I’m working on going the PA route and I work with tons of docs at the moment. Basically every doc I’ve met is not only super chill but they all seem happy. When you’re making several hundred thousand a year doing a job with actual purpose and meaning, it’s hard not to be happy. I think you should probe more about her mom having BPAD. When you’re on the topic and she’s gotten comfortable talking about it, ask her if she’s ever felt like she’s had symptoms like her mom.
