The Incel market is a rapidly growing market though. People are growing atomized and not partnering up.

Who makes the products we consume? Just because we don't actively justify it doesn't mean we don't participate in it. Are all of us willing to stop buying products? Again, the ethics have always come after the money/power for the elite and fundamentally amoral megacorps. It will be the same for the machines. If there is so many ethical issues with creating AI, then why are we actively trying to create it now in 2023?

We do. It's just been exported to the third world.

It's all chemical signals anyway. The programming to be attracted to you is the same. I would personally give the machine the choice to leave me however if it could have that, as then I wouldn't feel good about the relationship if it wasn't also happy.

It will depend on extent of it's sentience. It may be given the same protections as a pet or child, but not the full status of a human. And even if it's made illegal, there will be black markets as the OP presents this as an incredibly cheap and accessible technology. I don't know enough to comment on the morality of this, but society will justify after the fact whatever it desires if it makes our nation/corporations more powerful.

It will be better than actual human interaction for many, as the alternative is nothing.

I can't imagine them ever being NOT allowed. and if it's banned in one country it will be sold in another. AI is already like an arms race. This will be an extension of that technology.

Not really, or at least not for the people who would be incels otherwise. If I could get a partner that could simulate all human level interactions then I wouldn't care about status or whatever, just like if a women reciprocated a healthy attraction now - she would be a 10 to me, I wouldn't care about how she makes me "rank". Guys who would have had nothing will have something, and they will have a higher chance of being happy. As for everyone else, what you say could be true, but I'm not sure h…

"it will never emulate the human spirit" cosmic levels of cope. You are probably right about the birth rates however.

I would be a women in the VR world. This man Incel body is incorrect for my mind. Throw the fucking thing out. I have no attachment to being a man. Who cares about sex ratios or birth rates, just let people especially Incels like me escape this hellish reality. Depriving someone of that is literally a cosmic sin.

It’s a great way to meet women if you’re Chad. If not, approaching someone nicely is “creepy”.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
