I think if this is who you're putting forward as an example, then you're not much better than the person who incited women to march to begin with. (read: Trump) For the record, if we had a commander in chief who bragged about groping men without their consent (and had men come forward to accuse him of raping them), you would support a men's march.

Not so-- I have friends who identify as feminists who truly are activists for womens rights without demeaning men. Sure, men aren't their focus, but they also don't shut them out. Emma Watson is a good example of what an actual feminist should look like.

I guess that's our fundamental difference in opinion: I don't respect the reason for his inaction. My grocery store example is absolutely absurd, you're right. I tried to come up with something that was equally as absurd to me as Shia's "performance." Clearly you find it less absurd than I do.

Again, you're putting words in my mouth. He's not required to stop his performance in order to have the right not to be raped. He has the right not to be raped no matter what. he had a choice between getting raped and "compromising his art." Considering this is Shia Lebeouf's art we're talking about here, this is not exactly Sophie's choice. Also he's not legally required to do anything. But if someone has sex with him and he does nothing to stop them, it's not rape.

If they're not resisting (and they have the power to resist), then yeah, that's what consent looks like. That is of course exempting minors and people you hold political/hierarchical power over, who are not able to legally give consent.

Totally. But this makes a mockery of men who actually get raped. A good way to imagine just how high the bullshit level on this is is if you imagine what would have happened if a man tried to rape him instead of a woman. No way he would have just let it happen. (Or if he did, no way he would humblebrag about it publicly the way he's doing with this.)
