When I read these post by women, these absolutely bat shit bonkers abusive incidents - and they are acting so casual about it, it breaks my heart. How much have they been through that things like this aren’t immediate call your mom/sister/bff to get you out of there!

I know it’s a really old timey option, but I used a diaphragm for years and never got pregnant. This was during a marriage that I thought was monogamous (hahahaha) so we didn’t use condoms. But it was pretty easy to use, and effective.

I can tell you what I did, it may or may not be helpful. I dated around, and was very up front that I was not looking for marriage or cohabitation and that no one was meeting my kids, every. (Huge baggage from an abusive step father) Before I got my footing was I was a super Pickmeisha - felt guilty about them paying for coffee (!), always planned all the dates, ended up just going to dates houses to have sex and leave. It was really unsatisfying and I felt awful. I got my head in a better place…

It was several years ago, but one day I pulled up to the house after work and realized that while yes, there were dirty dishes in the sink, I wasn’t going to have to face the guilt trip, sighs, and comments about how my friends had cleaner houses while working, raising children and managing their extra activities.
