We also don't live in a world where you can just have sex and move on. False. You can and people do. It's called a one night stand for a reason. What giegerwasright said is perfectly valid. Except that it isn't. He claims that casual sex somehow produces or enables feminists, without providing a basis or logic for that claim. He is in essence male-slut shaming: Instead of "If you dress slutty, it's your fault you get raped" it's "if you have casual sex, it's your fault feminists exist and screw …

Wonderful article. Thanks for this.

YES I've said it before, I'll say it again. I reserve my MRA activism for the internet. There's the argument for being the change you wish to see and all that, but you really need to have your own company to work that. At work it won't make me popular, it'll ruin my career. Socially it won't get me laid. Accordingly I am a good white knight who simply refuses to get married. Solving the world's problems is not my responsibility.

Isn't that unfair to the childfree crowd though? Aren't the childfree folk subsidising his/her baby because they'll never take maternity leave/paternity leave/X?

Agreed, of course

Hmmm. I like the principled nature of your argument. But the reality is that the vast majority of all women choose that lifestyle. I can't say I'm surprised that the law reflects that.

I agree with that. It's (as usual) not just the law though but also the societal implication. Men taking paternal leave is still perceived as unusual.

Thank you. This makes a lot of sense.

Agreed, though that's a bit of a different topic. I'm happy for women to work, or rather to have the right to work. Feminism had a justification back when women were not allowed to work without permits from their husbands. I'm equally happy for women not to work and rely on their husbands as long as it is understood (and enforceable in case of divorce) that the man's stuff is his and stays that way and that her SAHM-work is part of her duties to earn her rent and salary so to speak; she does not…

Quite right - I went with what is the current gender stereotype and as stated in the OP I don't actually agree with said stereotype. Either the father or the mother should be allowed to care for the baby (see double standard on SAHD and SAHM). So if I understand you correctly, the problem is less the biological issue but rather the expectation by society (whoever that is) that the mom stay and look after the baby rather than the dad looking after the baby post-birth (or, if available, other supp…

Which is exactly what is happening. I'm really in two minds about this. On the one hand, I agree with you, on the other, as put in my OP, women seem to get the shorter end of the stick when it comes to having children. Then again, that is not due to society or attitude or law (or men or 'patriarchy') but simply a function of biology.

OK Do you think the law should / should not prescribe employers to grant paid maternity leave?

To me, MRA is 90% stuff you know and stuff you don't do I.e. stuff you know is what gets discussed here. Stuff I don't do: marriage unprotected sex paying for dinners before sex etc Talking about MRA has not had a positive effect on my life, so I don't do it.

Note: I am 100% pro-MRA. Federally Funded Health Offices and Research 1970 – Present (not including cancer research) Women Only – Office, Projects and Programs 70+ – Funds – $100,000,000,000 Men Only – None – $0 OK has someone a source for the $100,000,000,000 number? It seems... just too insane to be true....

VoxDay? The homophobic racist anti-science anti-evolution pro-segregation anti-secularism anti-freetrade christian apologetic faux-libertairan troglodyte whose writings read like a cross between Harold Camping and Anders Brevik? That guy? Ok... I don't want to mix up the medium with the message too much; but I don't care if the message is a diamond, if it's stuck in a turd like this one, you can't get at it without getting a your hands dirty.

Nope. My criteria are simply: Is she hot? Is the sex good? Is she low maintenance? Everything else, like humor, intelligence, wit, education, wealth, etc are bonusses but don't make the sine qua non list. Why such a short list? I can rely on myself and other friends to provide me with jokes, intelligent conversation, I can take care of my own business, etc. Everything else is within my sphere of control. No need to start relying on your SO there. My 2c. I could be wrong.
