Perhaps they do, perhaps they don’t. However, my mother used to work as basically a Human Resources person, but what she would do was go around to different companies and explain how to be “diverse”. So these people are willing to pay for it. Another reason they might do that is because it gives them a good image for the public. Shame about the quoting…

I concur, but this is now contradicting what you were saying earlier. (Do you know how to directly quote other posts? I’m new) You said that as long as the people are the best in the field, it shouldn’t matter whose there. That is the same mentality as these people have when they try to diversify their workplaces. They are motivated by profit, and so they want to get the most bang for their buck. If they have been inadvertently forcing away the best workers by creating an atmosphere dominated by…

Well, I think the idea is to make sure no one is being put off certain jobs due to a large percentage of the other gender in the role, like lots of female nurses putting off make nurses. I agree that having job quotas sounds bad. In countries where they have people even more choices, the genders actually divided even further and we’re even less diverse, which I find interesting.
