I sense this debate is winding down, so I'll keep it brief. unless it can be shown that a child will surely come down with an illness or injury without this procedure (see the definition of necessary) then there is insufficient justification Working by those criteria rules out any preventative care or procedures for children, including vaccinnes. Medicine and public health cannot always deal in certianty, especially in terms of disease. On this, it appears, we're not going to agree. as stated by…

(b) A surgical operation is not a violation of this section if the operation is-- (1) necessary to the health (The state of being free from illness or injury) of the person on whom it is performed, and is performed by a person licensed in the place of its performance as a medical practitioner; or (2) performed on a person in labor... http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c104:S.1030.IS: (And we're not sexist pigs now, are we?) Just for the record, I have agreed with you countless times that circ…

You've given me only a little information to work with each time , so I have had to make assumptions. This is, I believe, the first time you've mentioned "Meatal stenosis." I've never heard of it before now so, forgive me, but according to Wikipedia, it is a complication of circumcision but also can occur naturally in uncircumcised men that involves a narrowing of the urethra. Now, in addition, you also mentioned something quite interesting regarding your (two) brothers: Three boys in one family…

You make excellent points and I'm inclined to agree with you on a lot of them; maybe there's more gender bias here than I was able to see or willing to acknowledge. Still, this whole idea to me is very confusing and I want to look at the big picture. Eventually someone points out that this is similar to putting men in group showers with women. Invariably the response is "yes, but men will rape women if you put them together like that". And there is little if any dissent. I would like, in my hear…

My issue is that we respond to erroneous generalizations with more erroneous generalizations. We're much more advanced and civilized now. We've removed the "black" qualifier. "We" as in all of society? Do ALL women think that men are uncontrollable animals? Do most? What percentage? The "only men can stop rape" campaigns, the "remember not to rape her" campaigns...ridiculous, but I can't bring myself to believe that society at large thinks of men in this manner. I haven't seen evidence to suppor…

OK, what you're saying certainly makes sense; in either sex, it was only the men who were capable of rape, and the "white knighting" was probably the primary gender issue overall. However, I think those ideas about gender played second fiddle to the race issue in this case.

Nowhere in your original letter did you mention that your botched circumcision had caused you psychological torment or physical pain. I suppose I should have been able to infer that when you elevated your circumcision above your molestation in terms of anguish. That's why I didn't mention anything about the psychological element of circumcision. I'll deal address of your comments as one. Be thankful that you can put it out of your mind so easily - you are lucky. So while you seem to be unable to…

Ok I see your point; gender was an issue here, but I think that the conventional wisdom surrounding black people treated them as so distinct that this was, still, predominantly a race issue. Another thing you didn't see was white men being falsely accused of gang rape (to my knowledge), because black men and white men were different species.

I'm sorry that you had to endure what you did, and I admire you for taking so bold an action to support a cause you believe in, though I question the wisdom of your choice not to pursue a known child molester for this reason alone. This is a human rights issue, and it goes beyond the limits of US Law, as it affects all men worldwide, but if you'd like to discuss it within the confines of the USC and the US Constitution, we can do that. A simple understanding of biology will show that the male an…

Reminds me, eerily enough, of A Passage to India. This example is much, much more of a race issue than a Men's Rights issue; black men were thought of as having uncontrollable and animalistic sexual urges, a thought that stemmed from the advent of "scientific racism" that would eventually birth the eugenics movement. Excellent documentary!

You are free to express yourself any way you choose, but so am I, and I choose to criticize your viewpoint on scientific merit, word choice, and logic. You're not immune to criticism because you've posted on the internet; quite the opposite actually. Still, instead of being a troll, I think my criticisms rang rather politely, don't you? TL:DR Fuck off you piece of shit. Ouch. Apparently not. that thinks that my humanity is inherently less than a women's so my experiences are inherently inferior …

This is melodramatic if I've ever seen it. My circumcision was my rape. Really? To equate forcible sexual contact with a procedure, performed by a medical professional, devoid of sexual gratification for any party involved...that tends toward the absurd. First of all, you have a point. I think that cosmetic genital procedures are genital mutilation, ESPECIALLY if it is not performed by a medical professional and performed on those unable or unwilling to consent. I'm sorry that your mother stripp…
