That's fine that that's how you feel. To me, being open minded is approaching these ideas unbiased, and then coming to your conclusion (be it yours (the reasonable one imo) or the opposite) on your own terms instead of just shutting it down without thinking)

Yes, but an open minded person will consider these ideas, and realize that they're ridiculous. Being open minded does not mean that you need to take everything as reasonable, but only that you consider each thingn unbiased.

He caught his wife cheating on him and she blamed it on him. Combine that with a temper and I'm honestly not surprise he hit her. Not that that's excusable. Hitting your spouse at all is inexcusable (although her bring his spouse at that point was only by the technical definition, I think).

Exactly what I said above. Unethical to hit people. But if they hit you, they're ignoring ethic and as such, you have no obligation to pay attention to ethics either. In most situations,

I always tell people "I think it's unethical to strike anybody weaker than you. But if somebody is going to throw ethics out the window (such as abusing my beliefs) then I'm not going to hesitate throwing mine out right along side them.

Nine in 10 women (91.9%) who were physically assaulted since the age of 18 were attacked by a male, while about one in seven male assault victims (14.2%) were victimized by females. This doesn't mean anything. For all we know, males are attacked 10 times more than women, making 10/70 women-to-men attacks and 9-10 men-to-women attacks. Men are just generally involved in more violence (as far as i know)
