an argument I try to make all the time on rpd but someone legitimately applied for mod out of spite because they didn't like that their post wasn't in the nature of the sub and I called them out

your first two words will get you in trouble here. don't admit to receiving the summons and just no show if you can't make it. without proof of summons reception they have no case against you if you don't show up and therefore will just ignore it. if you let them know you are aware you need to come, then they'll try and get you there.

if they fine/jail you they have to prove that you recieved the summons and intentionally didn't show up. without sending it certified they lose the case almost immediately due to a lack of proof the defendant ever even saw the summons. the defendant would have to shoot themselves in the foot in order for that ruling to go through in which case you deserve the fine for being an idiot.

summons aren't sent by certified mail so there's no proof you ever received it. I'm sure the legal branch of government knows this and if they really cared about people showing up they'd certify the mail. otherwise if you dont how up it's just "well we can't really do anything about it unless they admit to not coming on purpose because how can we be sure they saw the summons. it's like writing on the sidewalk and then expecting it to be a binding contract to anyone that sees it. people's best de…

lpt, jury duty summons are almost never sent by certified mail. this means that there is no way to tell that you actually recieved the summons. just don't go if you can't do it. there's no proof you ever had the summons in your hand or even that you saw it in the first place. for all they know it was lost in the mail service and you can't be held accountable for not showing up for "something you literally didn't know about"

being sexually active doesn't indicate a mental maturity that comes with age. especially during those years which is when puberty is just absolutely going to town on their hormones. would you say that a 16yr old is legitimately mature enough to consent to a relationship with someone 50+? whether they are sexually active or not, that's a massive difference between getting into a relationship with someone in their age range

well abusing a power dynamic, at least in the workplace (between colleagues) is considered sexual abuse. however that's pretty selectively applied and the law is inconsistent with situations involving a power dynamic. the gender/sex dynamic is more influential on the law than a power dynamic, as seen by numerous reports of female teachers "having sex" with students and male teachers "raping" students. the teacher/student is only one of many dynamics, but probably one of the most reported on

more by nature of the position they hold at the job they possess. for instance, public servants in high acclaim positions. think political members(sherrif, congressman, board member for a prominent local company, lobbyists, etc)

I'll tell you for certain they there was a teacher in 8th grade that got lowkey harassed by the boys in my school because she was the only attractive teacher. let me say that she was no model, just a younger than most and more attractive (as compared to the other female teachers) teacher that didn't have a stick up her ass. she was generally pretty cool, but I saw that she was getting taken advantage of for it. I'll admit, it rubbed off on me in the sense that I also thought she was attractive, …

while I'm not defending anyone here, if you were to look you'd find that in a large majority of states have the age of consent down at 16. 18 is colloquially known as "adult" being that you're still a minor before that. however that doesn't mean you can't consent, it's recognized that a 16yr old can consent in many places. whether they have the mental fortitude to understand what they're doing and how it may effect their psych/life is a different question. kinda makes you wonder why lawmakers fe…

she's no bridge troll either which is arguable better than if she were undeniable attractive. she's a rather "normal" woman and so getting the book will discourage further abuse from people reading this who would previously have thought that they would get a legal advantage by nature of their attractiveness/sex/job/etc.

going with that analogy honestly, I assume you're talking about trump's social supporters (wall, racist, generally unintelligent, etc) and not his economical supporters (jobs, economy, taxes, etc). if that's the case they are some of the smallest crabs in the bucket and when the big crabs (people with appropriate moral/ideals) want to leave, the small crabs can only actually win through force of numbers alone. their arguments generally hold no weight against someone who knows better. and I think …

I find that it's easier for white people to separate themselves from "white trash" than it is for black people to separate from these types of mentalities. most of the flak black people get for not following the "culture" is from other black people perpetuating the issue. you're not gonna find a white person that says to a black person "why you acting so white?" but black people say that shit to each other

what do you mean that takes "a huge emotional maturity"? if you get mad at the person that your partner is cheating on you with then you're just stupid. they're not the ones that lied to you, it could literally be anybody and it doesnt matter, you're issue isnt with them and that's easy to see. I would say that it actually takes a huge amount of emotional insecurity if that's what you do and frankly probably shouldn't be in a relationship if that's the case because you need to work on yourself. …

that's great and all, but it's never gonna happen. you however just told this guy that the next time he reposts, that he should make sure to remove the section on the bottom that properly credits the post and person he got it from.

why are you encouraging creditless reposting? I'd rather see this all day than have a comment section full of "repost" and nothing to back it up

how can they even be sure that you got summoned? what stops anyone from saying that they never recieved a summons because the letter is almost never sent through certified mail and so even if you did receive it, they can never be sure that it got to you, only that they sent it out.

that's my position on a lot of these things, like yea sure it could happen, but it probably wont and the stress and anxiety that itll give me thinking about it just isn't worth it. that's easy for me and you to say, however most people are constantly thinking and worrying about things that will never happen or at the very least are unlikely to happen almost to the point that all they do is think about everything and just worry a whole lot over nothing.

he should have just sucked it up... stop acting like this is his fault, she should have kept her feelings in check and not assaulted him to start with so he wouldnt have had to defend himself. it is not his fault for retaliating, it is her fault for punching him and expecting no consequences because "I'm a girl, you cant hit girls!!"
