Because men dont generally need as much protection from sexual harassment. How can you defend yourself, if you cannot use physical force against women? How can you defend yourself if most people (men and women) around you think you should not only be fine with sexual assault, but do nothing to prevent it, lest you harm women in the process. During some dumb student society activity, apparently it was encouraged that women would rip off the clothes from the men. I was perhaps naive about what the…

Yeah, and the more playful women start doing weird things to get your attention. I was almost tackled into the mud in a "playful" interaction, too.

I don't understand what you're saying to improve. First of all: I'm not telling you to do anything. If you are a decent and nice person, you deserve to be comfortable with who you are, and to be treated with respect. This does not mean you are owed a partner, because no one owns anyone anything on the romantic front. But your experience will be better if you are more attractive, that's the sad truth. I've lived through all that pain, too. But in general: don't give a shit, find hobbies and activ…

This is the "gaslighting" I was talking about in my first reply. It's technically not gaslighting, because I genuinely believe that you believe what you say. I already did this before I went to 80kg. I was doing this when I was chubbier and fit, and it does not yield the same results. Before I got the occassional glance and smile, now I get the full stare-down, and catch women suddenly looking away when I meet their eyes. If they look away and not just go for a smile instead when I catch them. Y…

The truth is simply not being fat is not enough. This is indeed my experience as well. I'm now virtually a muscular athlete with a bit more body fat percentage than the absolute top in my sport. I feel like a machine when I'm climbing and running now. There is even a point beyond what you are describing. When I return from my sport activities and take the train back, I look like a slob, I just put on some dirty old t-shirt and comfy clothes, had a very brief shower. My hair is unkempt and an abs…

Not for me. I know for a fact that looks matter the most for even being considered a viable option. You need the looks to get a chance, and personality to make it last. Personality will rarely get you a chance in the first place, though. Over the course of my life I went from 120kg to 80kg now. I was at 95kg for a decade, but really physically fit (lots of running and climbing. Even at that weight I would put most people who do exercise to shame in physical challenges or sports.). Then I suddenl…

I agree with you, but also want to add something. Your arguments also hold up if "good guys" who are confident and desirable enough to approach exists in large numbers. They just get locked down in a relationship and disappear of the dating market. So, even if they do exist in large numbers, most women will never get approached by them. They is already accounted for. So, the retort often given that is simply is not true that only players approach all the time, does not work. The counter to this …

And good men are mutually exclusive from men who show interest first? Of course not, they may not even be in a minority, but they do approach women much less frequently. Also, don't forget that by "good men" we mean the following: Good men are men who show genuine interest and are not playing around. They approach someone they want to know and want to get a serious relationship with it, and they intend for it to last. When the "good confident man" approaches and he is also attractive and desirab…

I also don't think the options are "awkward interest" or "seasoned manipulator." I reject the false dichotomy of "player" or "awkward," The post you reply may phrase it as false dichotomy, but we are in a discussion, so presenting exaggerated examples is a rhetoric device to clear up things. Would you still disagree with the argument, if you view the two options of the dichotomy as ends on a spectrum? Can you imagine that his advice would yield results, if you shifted yourself a bit on the spect…
