Yep, it’s this quote from Gabriella in the article that really takes the cake: “I love sex and I get bored easily, but men take [an affair] as an affront to their masculinity.” I have seen this kind of comment several times in the past on Reddit, it’s like these people don’t understand how cheating is a backstabbing betrayal, so they justify it by saying men just don’t like cheating because it basically hurts their ego or feelings.

I upvoted you and I think it’s fine to have feminists posting here if it’s in good faith. I actually don’t consider myself anti-feminist, I just want a fair and just society. It may seem to you like just the fringe feminists support Amber Heard, but I’ve seen mainstream widely respected sources defending her both directly and in more subtle ways. Here are a few examples: https://nypost.com/2022/05/16/the-unfair-vilification-of-amber-heard/ https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/amber-heard-verdict…

Gimpgirl also has some youtube videos where she talks about dating. To me her comments seem to line up with what she says in the videos but who knows. Also , it’s common to see highly upvoted comments on on women’s subreddits like “Men have such egos, just because women are friendly with you DOES NOT mean we are flirting”

She thinks she was justified in being a bitch because she was “clearly ignoring him”. Once again men are expected to read women’s minds instead of communicating with words like a normal human. For all he knew she was hard of hearing or just couldn’t hear him over the sound of the bus?

I’m not saying there is no truth to this, but it seems too reductive. Most historians seem to agree there were a lot more factors leading to the decline of the empire, such as repeated civil wars, plagues, and raids by the Franks, Vandals, Saxons, and Visigoths.

What does flashing mean in this context?

The 80/20 thing is from a real statistic based on the AVERAGE of all “women seeking men” on the dating site OK Cupid. Here is a mag talking about it, I’m linking this because OKC took the original survey down. You can see a link to that OKC page within this post: https://www.yourtango.com/2016285828/women-find-80-percent-men-unattractive-says-crazy-study

So the OK Cupid survey asked women to rate men on a scale of 1/5 (for example: unattractive, below average, average, above average, or attractive.) if you graphed each woman’s response on a graph where the x axis is total points assigned(5 being attractive and 1 being unattractive), and the y axis is number of women in the study, you would see the shape of a bell where the average is at the top, and then the far left are the most judgmental about men’s appearance, and the far right has the least…

I’m saying that the person calling him ugly does not also think 80% of men are uglier than him, because that 80% number is the average across all OK Cupid women seeking men. If you graphed those women’s ratings of men, it would probably look like a bell curve, and I’m just guessing the anecdotes of ugly men come from women on the side of the curve that is extremely judgemental of men’s appearances. I could be wrong idk.

What I’m trying to say is the “ugly” guy is only ugly to the few people giving these anecdotes, he wouldn’t be ugly when you take a survey, like the 80/20 OKC study.

Yes, my guess is that the anecdotes we hear about “ugly” men getting laid all the time are from people who see someone as ugly when he really is not according to the average rating (like the 20% from the OKC study).

Not OP but I think his point is that they aren’t really ugly in men’s eyes, they are around 7/10 but are at the bottom of the top 20% of men getting laid.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
