Absolutely there is a disparity. But the individual has a responsibility. Go into stem if you want more women in stem. You don't have to choose gender studies to point out what is already pointed out in the '70s. Or you don't understand how constantly seeing mostly men in STEM fields discourages women from entering them I don't automatically assume that because a profession is dominated by one sex, it discourages the other. I come from sweden and we have those laws in motion since many years back. But women still choose to take most of the parental leave. Women also do far better than men in school at all levels, yet they choose lower paying careers. At some point you need to take personal responsibility. Most of the wage gap is women need to realize making more money costs time and a lot of the work is really hard.

Not to shift the discussion, but I think it's hard to distinguish when masculinity and femininity is forced upon people, and when it simply exists. Like, is it forced upon men that they perform better in spatial ability? Or is it forced upon women that they do better in language learning?
