Well yeah, comments will not change the facts. Collaborations with organizations that do exist might though. For example, contacting the many suicide awareness organizations out there and proposing new ways of approaching the topic might have more of an effect than just saying "nothing will happen because it never does"

I would just like to point out that there are some girls who recognize a "nice guy" when they see one, and do something about it. There are also some girls who do not want a "white knight" to save them nor a bad boy to shame them.

This is an issue that definitely should gain even more support. I dislike the phrasing of this though, as it is pretty self defeating "...but like most "mens issues" this one will probably be ignored." Well yeah, it might be - with that attitude. Stand up! Donate to help lines, volunteer with help lines, ask for more gender specified prevention plans, talk about it more... don't say "sucks nothing will happen"

The idea of the majority then makes the minority seem inferior. It should just be another version of "pink" instead of flesh tone, which is labelled in a way which excludes many people.

I didn't say that by being a man you automatically have a privilege, though in the past I would argue that that could be true. Having privilege is NOT blaming someone for it. It is recognizing, "Hey I might not have to fight as hard, for this job or for this loan, as that guy or girl based on my looks, gender, age, ability, race, or sexual preference." By recognizing these things we can recognize the situations where it is wrong and speak up about it.

I agree. I was pointing out the fact that a VERY feminist article still pointed out that men have disadvantages and privilege is not reserved only for white men. I agree with a lot of your list but disagree with "Most likely won't be raped when going to prison" as I believe that is untrue from the documentaries I have watched + stories I have read.

It is a list of privilege... just like you looked up. It is not "charges laid against you" which is something I think is commonly misinterpreted. Postmodernism + poststructuralism help point out how deeply imbedded certain privileges are in our western society. Man, Cosmo is the absolute worst. It goes from "Control him" to "Tips for pleasing him and putting him first" in a couple of pages. Its like "hey ladies, you want to feel even slightly powerful after we knock down your ego with all of these models and beauty products? I agree. I think that viewing sex as something mutually "given" or enjoyed helps even out the negative gender perceptions on both sides. It becomes: woman can enjoy sex, men don't always want it rather than woman have sex as a favour and men stop at nothing to get it.

I agree. That is the problem that I did have with this event. I have seen other promotional campaigns that are less gender-as-perpatrator specified. The one that I attended had all types of literature, but by the nature of the event (title + activity) it did seem very one sided. Perhaps this event would be alright if paired with a "Walk a mile in his shoes" simultaneous event to show the very close statistics?

Ah touche. I was thinking of it in the context of an optional "anyone can support this cause" event like the one in my city is - my bad. That is quite silly then. We had the same event in my city "Walk a mile in her shoes". It was a pretty good community gathering type deal and got a lot of people talking about domestic violence in general. I was also impressed with a counter-protest of "Walk a mile in his shoes" that happened on the same block. Their group was quite small, but there were men holding banners and woman with very large mens boots walking around. Their banners had things about loosing custody battles to abusive wives, wrong accusations, etc.…

I agree with feminism because there are many more countries in the world where woman are oppressed over men than visa versa. I don't believe that all woman who believe in feminism feel like victims. I am a woman (downvote me to hell... whatever) and I consider myself a feminist. It does actually. Programs like these absolutely acknowledge that ANYONE can offend, not just men. I am Canadian so I cannot comment on the VAWA piece. And it recognizes how far woman have come in many areas of life, while still aiming to teach equality for everyone on both local AND global scales.

I think that shit like this proves how much more education has to be done on the topics of assault and rape. Teaching actual victims to speak out, and teaching everyone else the consequences of false accusations. Situations like this are horrible in so many ways. They make actual victims cases seem illegitimate, and they make all woman look evil and out to get men. An education program that focuses on separating spite and revenge from serious issues such as rape would be so good.
