Because I didn't need to do any shit that bad to get the same treatment. Nor do I defend them, they are bad people, and by extension so am I. And I am not angry about it, although hurt and confused came in waves. Now, I'm at peace with it, and when my time comes again as it will inevitably will I can face it with a lot more dignity. I carry the responsibility to either fix or, more realistically, take the blame whenever blame is parted out. Can you think of anything more pathetic and disgusting …

Thank you for your input.

It's interesting how people keep treating having an honest perspective on the implication of responsibility, as "shirking it"? I guess maybe I should re-evaluate my perspective and also accept that delusional narcissism is also part of the expectation. In which case, thank you for making me your Perfect God, I deserve it.

Do you not see how that is an impossible standard to live by? I mean, the automatic respect and authority accorded as a result sounds sweet if you ignore the work involved propping it up, but it's humanly impossible to live up to that image, and a dangerous thing to wield around people who don't know better. Failure to live by that is inevitable, the work to try is grinding and thankless, and the resulting resentment is dangerous. Radical honesty is better, and that means confronting the inevita…

The reference just wooshes over my head. Can you be a tad bit more direct there?

Well, just because I have automatic, absolute, and total responsibility doesn't mean that I actually have the ability to fix it, or even the ability to care. Responsibility is rooted in perception. Control and investment is rooted in the self. I cannot choose what isn't and is my responsibility, and I will have to shoulder it all. To claim otherwise is just going to be, look, and be judged as "pathetic". But I also have to live with the limitations of my ability to control the world and others, …

Yup, I'm absolutely wordy. And how can I not take responsibility? I really don't think that's a choice. I can not do "unnecessarily good acts". Every action I take affirms my responsibility by either a failure to live up to it, or affirming it by contrition. I will inevitably have to take responsibility even for things I have no control over. For thing that are not even true. I will and have woken up with surprise responsibility for people I didn't know existed until that very moment, and action…

And I absolutely own up to all those moral failings, and how ultimately it's a self-serving and self-aggrandising narrative to pump my own ego and discount my actions. Clearly, absolutely, honestly. I'm not arguing really, I'm not discounting any of the blame, I'm just using this forum to internalise my thoughts in preparations for the fact that I am inevitably responsible for this, and absolutely everything and anything else. Because it's inevitable.

You’re not the enemy. You’re just collateral damage in an ecosystem that runs on fear and defensive outrage. There are other systems in the world. I disagree honestly. In a fit of cosmic irony, men are powerless to escape the innate assumption and expectation of their own power, both personal and systemic. They either rise up to it, or wither and die. So you can only ever be the Enemy. And trying not to be is seen and interpreted as trying to skirt your duties and responsibilities, to "get away …

Well, clearly men have a life outside of other people. And, the pressure is to maximise that level of independence and insulation. But in the world of human interaction, that seems to hold true. And, I don't agree that "we can only do our best", because our best doesn't matter. I have no control over other people's opinions or reaction, only my own. And in a world where things happen for little to no reason, an arbitrary one, my actions are inherently inconsequential to everyone else but myself.…

I accepted that I am and always going to be the "bad guy", and there's nothing that can be done about it but prepare for the blowback. It only takes one bad feeling to be the creep, the agent of the patriarchy, the emotionally manipulative or alternatively neglectful boyfriend, the smarmy coward, the demanding husband, the terrible father. After that the only question is if I can be punished in some way over it for it, that is all. It's just dawning on me and I don't feel great, but I don't feel…
