With some of them, probably. But most of them I'm genuinely not interested in. What I really need is to find a quiet skinny girl in the corner, that's more my type.

You do have a point of course, but sometimes you can just tell. Chances are the woman in leather showing off as much tattooed skin as possible is not emotionally well-adjusted, heh.

I've had enough of that in my life, personally - I'm not willing to subject myself to that again.

By "not sure if I want bother," though, I just mean not wanting to get involved with someone who's likely chronically depressed, bitter, and/or a nympho.

I'm involved in the local industrial scene, and every concert I've been to seems to be unfriendly towards meeting women. The women are either attached, grossly overweight, or clearly out of the league of most guys. There might be a chance with the last group, but even then I'm not sure if I want to bother - it seems like a lot of people in the scene are just fundamentally broken. The odds aren't good!

I was about to say the same thing. She's attracted to you, you see a lot of yourself in her, why in the world would you stop it?

Like I said, talk to people. Anyone, find any excuse. Damn the torpedoes and try it! Edit: To elaborate, it's a question of playing the odds. You're trying to connect with people with likeminded interests, and the only way you'll do that is by opening the door to others and getting a sense for them. And if you hit it off with someone, invite them to do something else - watch a movie, play a game, grab a beer or a bite to eat.

Okay, there's obviously a far deeper problem here: negativity. You can't go into this with the attitude "I can't, I can't, I can't," otherwise you're doomed to fail - I should know, I've been there. If there's something that's legitimately in the way, you have to fix it by whatever means necessary. I really want to emphasize the "whatever means necessary" part, because that's the attitude you need to succeed. Don't cheat or steal or anything - but you do need to make major lifestyle changes, eve…

A smartphone, a tablet, or yes, even a webcam if it comes down to it. If you can't find someone willing to take a photo of you, though, that's your first issue right there. You need to make more (and/or better) friends. At the very least, increased social interaction gives you practice and confidence, and makes you feel less lonely.

Ask friends to take them when you're out somewhere - women like seeing someone having fun. If that's not an option for whatever reason, find some flattering angles and lighting and take some self-portraits. Just make sure you look as nice as you can.

I'm going to tell you what I wish someone had told me around your age - I'm 32 now, for the record. 1) Forget your lack of sexual or relationship experience. Just go for it. You can fake it 'til you make it, and if someone genuinely cares about you they won't judge you in bed or otherwise, trust me. Also, you'd be surprised at how many of the people you think are getting laid every night go home to empty beds. 2) Develop yourself - that's where real confidence comes from. Work out three times a …

I can vouch for the gym, clothing, and meetup parts. Speed dating is also a ton of fun as long as you don't take it too seriously - until a follow-up date, naturally!

I would've got my act together - worked out hard and regularly, ate lean, dressed better, socialized more, and got a good job (as good as you can manage in college, anyway). It's not as difficult as you'd think, and I would've been knee-deep in women, seriously - I can get dates now, never mind if I'd had youth and constant social interaction on my side.

Well no, of course not. Just going on my own experience and anecdotes. There have been women who wanted to jump my bones on the first night.

I think most women want to wait a few dates before they have sex. Certainly anything meaningful usually works that way, although I did have one relationship with someone I had sex with on the second date. My advice: play it by ear. Be charming and attractive, and it'll probably be plenty obvious from the response how far a woman is willing to go. Do not push for sex on the first date unless you don't expect anything serious.

Also, people like eating tasty foods, and not dying.

Problem is, the OP's story sounded like a constant refrain of "how can I get this girl to lower her defenses and have sex with me," or at least, constantly pushing things as far as they could go. I'm sure he meant well, but it doesn't sit right with me when it sounds like a woman is treated as an obstacle to be overcome - I wouldn't want to be treated the same way.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
