I do not approve of such relationships. Yes, they are consenting adults, no I still do not approve of it. I'm going to be brutally honest, if that young person, be they a man or a woman, was my son or daughter, I would consider it my own personal failure as a father that they are together with someone who in a couple of years should start doing cancer screenings. I do not fancy the idea of discussing with my future son or daughter in law how much our backs hurt and what diet the doctor told us t…

I don't think either go away, but both become less apparent. But this really applies to other negative experiences as a whole. The internet bombards you with negativity. And as you said, once you are off of it these negative occurrences become more hidden and not as saturated. But they are still there.

In my country both father's day and men's day aren't really that celebrated, and honestly it's our own fault. Because here mother's day and women's day are on the same day and it's always a party. In the office the ladies bring chocolates, sweets and other snacks on the day and we give them some small gifts like flowers, etc. And it's always this more care free day.

I wouldn't say there is a cultural reason. I don't even know when the long maternity and paternity leave were established. Maybe during communist times or soon after, who knows. I think this change was made because there really is no negative about it. And maybe to boost political approval ratings. That's how our politicians try to empress. Raising pensions, fixing roads before elections, throw money for social programs.

Paternity leave is something that should increased greatly in a lot of countries (tbf in a lot of countries maternity leave is also stupidly low). But I'd like to talk about one positive example. Surprisingly my country, Bulgaria, despite all of it's shortcomings with corruption and lower QOL than western countries, does maternity leave and paternity leave rather well. While maternity leave is around 410 days, fathers get 15 days at birth, than up to 2 months extra after that. And just a couple …

Silver lining, at least this questionnaire that the defense minister Pistorus is pushing to only be filled up by men is getting flack both from the opposition and his own government as sexist and that it should be made mandatory to fill out by both men and women.

OK really how are your arguments about feminism and their supposed ploy to genocide 80% of men different from their arguments that conservative men want to strip all women from every human right and turn them into a breading mare?

This is a hard question, because loneliness is not universal for all people. It's not the same for all people. Some may feel lonely from the lack of people around them. Some may have plenty of people around them, but because those people don't satisfy their emotional needs, and still feel lonely. You can even be in a relationship and feel lonely. You can be the biggest playboy, women at your feet with just a look and still feel lonely. Personally I'd say either try to find a community to fulfill…

Not to come out as hostile, but what really is a masculine and a feminine role nowadays? I say this because I've gotten into arguments with my mother with her boomer mindset (well she's really an old Gen Xer but still). And how to her mind a masculine role is everything from doing yard work, taking out the trash and knowing about cars to communicating with people (specifically handymen and other forms of independent contractors) and using the BBQ grill. And it gives me the most WTF moments. She …

There are plenty of ways to punish a guilty person without the death penalty. This form of barbaric revenge disguised as justice should have left human society centuries ago.

Depends on the movie. I'm personally done with action movies. I've grown out of them. I find the constant fights, explosions, world ending plots, etc, boring. I don't care if the lead is a man or a woman, I do not want to watch them. Marvel and Fast and Furious are the biggest culprits. They normalized terrible writing with the excuse you got flash and spectacle in return. And then Holliwood just started casting women in the lead roles for diversity's sake.

Yeah, I already got that message. I replied to it that if they are willing to ban someone for participating in a subreddit without reviewing how that person conducted themselves in the discussions there, that I do not wish to be a part of their bad-faith sub. And muted the sub immediately so as to not come up on my feed and blocked the bot. It's not like the same content there is not regurgitated on two dozen other subs anyway.

I bit of a mix depending on your social class. I know at one point in time even if they could own things, if they were married, the husband had all rights and decision making ability. And that was a thing in the US, Britain, France and other places. As for work it really depends on your social class. A rich woman married to a rich man wouldn't need to work and it might even be viewed as beneath her to work. A normal woman tho not only could work, she would have to work. That's why I find the deb…

Perhaps with careful steps I could tame the bear by feeding it and form a symbiotic relationship allowing me to one day ride the bear as an awesome mount. Also animals show unconditional love so I'd pick them over a human any day. So I'm taking the bear.

We have to be objective here, because I see such articles in women subs and it just turns into a circlejerk of "Yeah, girl power, this is because we are dissatisfied." Which is only a partial truth. Yes, dissatisfaction from the cultural change in dating and family is a factor for both men and women. But it is only 1 factor out of many. Factors for lower birth rates can range from economic, cultural, work life balance, housing, contraception, education, etc, etc. And for some people the reasons …

Doubt it. You can't force most societies to pay for safety nets like universal healthcare, universal basic income and free education, but we are expected for them to accept extra taxes for kids that aren't theirs or kids who are theirs, but never wanted in the first place.

I mean I read an article in the BBC about this. It focused more on the women side but the story of one woman really did seem to paint a good picture of why the situation is what it is and why this measure is just a drop in the bucket. She was a young mother of 2. She was explaining how depressed she was because raising two kids took all her time, and other mothers at the playground seem to be in the same position. Meanwhile her husband apparently 90% of the time would go to work in the morning a…

So she's a liar, body shaming and homophobic. Looks like she's not worth keeping as a friend or any of the "friends" that would take her side. And no, don't sleep with anyone if you don't want to. You have the right to decline if you are not comfortable.

I'd say this is good and not really a problem for men to solve. It's time for women to pursue men if they want a relationship instead of sticking to old roles. Men have their own problems and we need to focus on them. We never shut that door to begin with, so we needn't do anything about it.

I think rather than toxic masculinity, toxic or outdated gender roles is a better term because it does not sound combative or attacking towards men. And those toxic gender roles exist and can be exhibited by both men and women. The notion that certain interests, behaviors even clothes are unmanly or unwomanly and should be frowned upon if anyone from the wrong gender exhibits them. And that anyone not sticking to their gender mold should be ridiculed and put down. To me this is what that origina…

How does the size of work pool matter if all the workers are a united front that can strike against unfair treatment? The whole point of that ideology is to unite the workers. And the larger the mass of united workers the harder it is to deny them. Exploitation is not due to size but due to lack of unity.

I mean, this is a bit expected with arranged marriages. To simplify it, guys think of marriage like living with a roommate. A healthy love based marriage is your roommate also being your best friend and you are friends with benefits. An love-lost marriage is your roommate is a friend you had a falling out with and you now dislike each other. And a trad arranged marriage is like you are in a collage dorm and your roommate is whomever was assigned to your dorm by the collage. And you just tolerate…

I think you are mixing modern liberal feminist with Marxism. Also can we stop with parroting the idea that women were stay at home moms for the entirety of human existence and did not work? Because by that definition every man who was not a soldier or a scholar and was just a farmer also never worked - and that was the majority of men. Guys I'm sorry, but the 50s were a damn anomaly and pretty much specifically for the USA. For the majority of human existence, men or women worked, unless they we…

There is no solution. Feminist or not, man or woman, if your partner doesn't trust you, your relationship is a hallow one. The only thing you can do is end it and look for someone better. What you described here is a toxic partner, insecure and jealous. It's even a bit hard to say if her way of acting was due to feminism or due to her being jealous or both. But there is no point in staying in a toxic relationship trying to fix a toxic partner.

I do believe there is some truth in the term as we have all come into contact of such examples like: "men shouldn't cry", "men cannot be sexually assaulted", "men should are not men if they suffer domestic abuse". I do think it's being thrown around for everything, but I have seen examples of it from other men in my circle. For example I got into an argument (not an angry argument or anything) with my brother a few months ago about this topic. One thing that irked me what the fact that he said s…

Is this a reasonable plan? Em,... no, of course it isn't. But let's break it down. OP why do you want to get married? Genuinely what do you expect to get from marriage and do you even comprehend what marriage is? Marriage means you will have to live and share every aspect of your life with another person either until you divorce or die. It's a legally binding contract. And that person will not just sit in the corner and interact with you only when it is convenient to you. All your future plans m…

Well to be fair single women owning more homes doesn't necessarily mean single women buy more homes. Do not forget that divorce is a thing and also women tend to live longer than man (about 6 years more for the US atm), so a bunch of these women in the statistic are likely old widows.

Actually there is the solution for that elderly problem as well - you fire them once they can't perform. After that way either live off their savings or their children's help (more reasons to have children) or go to occupy lower skilled jobs that require less competent workers. And really such a society is the quintessential version of a society that encourages children and families. Because that was the whole reason families were a priority and children were a priority in the past. In a society…

Nah, what's really happening is the real solution they (governments and oligarchs) have figured out as the easiest - they are raising the retirement age. That's the only reason they care about birth rates in the first place. They want workers to pay taxes and social securities into the budget. Higher retirement age solves the problem of fewer younger workers and also has the nice bonus that more workers are likely to die on the job before retiring, so they don't have to pay them for years after …

The Russians are in a demographic crisis of their own and the Chinese screwed themselves with the 1 child policy so bad they are looking at South Korean levels of low birth rates. Honestly, and I'm surprised so few people online realize it, the solution is obvious for governments (and plenty are already doing it) and leaders of industry. And it's not even that authoritarian, just everyone who is not rich will hate it. First, why is this a problem in the first place? Why are the elites globally s…

As a second comment, how it would affect men's rights? Realistically, and this will affect women too, I think governments around the globe will just drastically increase retirement age. That's it. Like this is the only reason they and the elites care about this issue. "Who will work in our factories? Who will pay us taxes? Who will pay for the social security of the elderly?" The easiest and most unpopular solution without going into straight authoritarianism - raise the retirement age and hope …

I mean, in that type of society, you might as well just artificially inseminate women or begin cloning babies and turn men into slaves that work 24/7 at gunpoint like medieval serfs to make up the losses of the economy. You might as well revoke child labor laws too so they can fill the low skill jobs. But this is a ridiculous scenario.
/r/MensRights16/04/24 08:02 AM

I disagree. Mainly because there are many reasons why birth rates are falling. And even if by removing women from the work force that somehow magically increases male income due to a less competitive labor market for the employees (highly unlikely). That still doesn't mean that families will want to make 3 kids on average. And that model is extremely unstable relying on only one bread winner. And it also makes your economy and products more expensive, and less competitive. Not to mention the hol…

Hard to say. Birth rates are extremely complicated. I know some on the male side have blamed feminism. Feminists on the other hand have blamed toxic masculinity and women preferring to be single. Both of those statements can be true, but what is the absolute truth is there is no one major cause for this. There are dozens of little causes and that is why no country has been able to adequately solve this. It's not a single bullet wound but a death from a thousand cuts. You do have women's reproduc…

It is only rich countries that have a falling birth rate poor countries and the world overall still has an increasing population. That's a bit of a half-truth. Yes places like India, KSA, Nigeria, etc, etc. All still have above replacement level, but they have been dropping (faster than developed countries) since the baby boom of the 50s, 60s and 70s. And the UN projections are that they too will fall below replacement level by the end of the century.

Centuries of outdated gender stereotypes where a man's worth is tied to him sleeping with a woman or as many women as possible in order to be acknowledged as a man by his peers leads to this result. Many men still believe that a man should only express anger as a negative emotion. Never fear or sadness. And always desire sex. Such men father sons and daughters who grow to believe and expect the same. And thus a large part of society grows to disregard male suffering because it's not masculine.

Manslaughter is a homicide and murder is also a homicide. And manslaughter covers more than just accidental killings. It also covers crimes of passion where you could have intent to kill but not be premeditated like with a murder. Also we don't know what degrees of homicide exist in Spain. So far there is no proof anyone is trying to fuck him over.
/r/MensRights10/04/24 07:59 AM

No one is calling it a murder. It's being called a homicide. Murder has intent and malice aforethought, homicide can be any killing of any human. In this case we could be looking at a situation like if both of them got shitfaced got in a car and he ran the car into a tree killing his wife. Of course the police shouldn't let him go with "a sorry for your loss buddy." A person died, and an investigation is taking place to see if anyone bares responsibility.

First: it's not called assault it's called a well deserved punishment, and it's not because of disagreement but it's because disrespect and crossing lines OK, let's examine this. Who judges what a well deserved punishment is and the severity of the punishment? And does the well deserved punishment apply to only members of the family or to strangers as well? Say I have a daughter and her husband, partner or whatever applies such a "well deserved punishment". Do I have the right to deal a well des…

OK, first of all it's immoral and illegal to assault someone for disagreeing with you. Second of all this is not how you build a healthy relationship and a healthy family but rather a toxic one. Only the weakest of men solve their problems with violence and emotional abuse. Violence is the response of an emotionally undeveloped individual. Such men are the direct cause of male suffering and male on male violence and really the majority of violence in the world. Case in point, societies that stil…

Loneliness is complex because you can be lonely even in a relationship. If the relationship is toxic and your emotional needs are not met you can be lonely in even the most crowded room. The corporate grind is not for fun, but life is expensive so you have to do it.

Self-Partnership has been a growing trend for young women, and I wouldn't say that is a bad thing. Traditional gender roles always put pressure on both men and women to enter a relationship ASAP or be branded as a social failure. This however is a great recipe to enter into a toxic relationship. I believe men would greatly benefit in self-partnership being normalized for men as well. Traditionally men's worth has been tied to the idea of securing a partner or having many sexual partners. And men…
/r/MensRights05/04/24 10:10 AM

This is indeed a very important point that often gets forgotten. A very toxic trait of traditional masculinity is tying a man's self worth to having a partner or the number of sexual partners they have had. And any man who struggles with that feels lesser than men who do not struggle. This also pushes struggling men into toxic relationships just out of desperation.
/r/MensRights05/04/24 09:34 AM

I think one thing that often gets overlooked is men should be thought that their self worth is not tied to the number of women they have bedded or to them being in a relationship or not. Men should be taught that it is not shameful to be a virgin, nor is it shameful to be single. This exact perceived requirement from traditional masculinity is very destructive of men's mental health and self worth and should be eliminated. It also contributes to men going into or staying in abusive and toxic rel…

I believe we have to be objective here and not turn this into gender conflict. All of this above is traditional gender roles and traditional gender roles are sexist by nature. They are imposed and perpetuated by the ruling class because it makes control of the masses easier. The ruling class (men and women) have an interest continuing these roles because they feed into societal power structures. They have an interest in men not prioritizing themselves. Just as they have an interest in women not …
