yes they are, the proper distance to leave between cars is roughly 1 car length which is about 15 feet. just because its rarely done doesn't make it correct. you can be faulted for not leaving enough distance that's all I was trying to say. you seem very angry for no reason.

if you are rear ended and at a stop in a normal crash and your vehicle hits the car in front of you, you will normally be blamed for not leaving enough distance between you and the car in front of you. always make sure you can see the car in front of yous rear tires.
