I'm still not seeing how the white ribbon thing is bad. Intervening when one sees an instance of abuse is just being a decent person. It's not about gender roles.

This is pretty basic stuff in the area of professional ethics. Allowing bosses sex with their subordinates and professors sex with their students opens the door to abuse, considering the conflicts of interest.

The point of the article was to show that regardless of the nature of gendered stereotypes, the men in society would still find a way to force women to be subservient to them. That women bear children and lactate is simply a brute fact of biology, but the lack of political power and freedom that women have had historically was socially constructed.

Actually, she seems to be taking a reasonable position. She acknowledges that men's issues exist, but holds that the MRM is a misogynistic reactionary movement, which is abundantly clear from reading the comments and submissions in this sub. I'll take the MRM seriously when there's more advocacy against the male side of traditional gender roles and less hate for feminists.

I agree with this article. Rape is a serious issue on college campuses and elsewhere, and we will not have gender equality until our institutions and society develop better means of supporting victims, punishing perpetrators, and preventing it from happening in the first place.
