There’s definitely truth to that. And to be fair, both myself and ex-wife decided separation was probably inevitable 2 years before we made it official, so in a way I had the 2 years to mentally accept and work through it. Currently still with my “new” partner 14 months now. What I was trying to say is everyone works on their own schedule and has their own backstory. We shouldn’t make a rule of thumb for duration before moving on. Could be 1 year or 5 years.

Fact is you cheated… you kind of screwed this up for yourself my friend. Doesn’t sound like there’s any going back.

Revisiting in the future is going to be 10x more difficult than getting it done the right way now unfortunately.

Well I’ve been living with her for 3 days a week ( she lives in the city near my job so better than commuting back and forth) and she stays with me the days I’m working from home and if she’s off. So maybe 4-5x a week I’m with her. Sounds like honey moon phase would be long gone by now. We’ve had this routine going for past 4-5 months.

Even after 7 months of dating? It’s been a while since I’ve been in the dating game, but how long are the “honeymoon” phases expected?

I think if anything it should provide closure if you do decide to divorce. Which in itself is better than divorcing abruptly and questioning if you really made the right choice, so that makes sense. As someone whose gone through the process (8 months happily divorced now) I know what it’s like to be in loveless marriage with no physical intimacy. Experiencing a new healthy relationship again now feels like being reborn. If therapy doesn’t help, just know there are options to start fresh and be h…

Based on your post I think you already know the answer. Sounds like couples therapy is just putting a bandaid on an open wound, just going to prolong unhappiness and delay the inevitable.

I disagree. Everyone’s situation is different. I started dating 2 weeks after my divorce was finalized. To be fair, the marriage was over 2 years before that, so mentally and emotionally I was excited and ready to get back out there. In a current relationship 7 months and going strong.

Well I just completed my uncontested divorce (no kids) and my ex wife asked if I could stay in the house until the end of the year to help pay the mortgage 50/50 so she could save up a bit more and find a roommate. It’s cheaper than renting anywhere nearby so works to my advantage as well. We both agreed if we start dating no inviting the bf/gf to the house. Everyone’s situation can be different.

This is pretty much what I’m doing right now. Googled a divorce attorney and called the one with highest google reviews within a 10 mile radius. Sounded
