Tell me you're 13 years old or something.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/09/25 01:10 PM
2

Ae you a person, or a set of lists and rules?
/r/PurplePillDebate03/09/25 11:15 AM

No one owes you anything, just as you do not owe them anything, and everyone masks to some extent initially in dating.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/09/25 06:22 PM
1

Nope. The word nice should not be used, they're fake. At the same time, everyone masks.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/08/25 05:41 PM

Two different sides to the same coin, people finding value based off of sex alone, both are unhealthy mindsets to have.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/08/25 05:04 PM

Wat!? Again, there is so much nuance to human relations. I know I could date younger women, but I would not want to marry. I don't want more kids, I would like to retire around the same time as my partner, our life experiences are vastly different. Health becomes a factor as you age. Many older women could do the same.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/08/25 11:08 AM

He does have temper management issues, and his happiness is based off of her which are unhealthy relational behaviors.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/25 05:29 PM

Human relational dynamics are nuanced, and so are feelings. Again, there are different kinds of loneliness, just as there are different forms of love.

Hot takes no one asked for.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/25 09:56 PM

Bad faith argument. It's not true and you know this, many people don't get into relationships to have sex and think it will cure their loneliness, they get into one to experience what many people do.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/25 06:44 PM
1

Yes, you can feel lonely with friends and family. People even feel lonely within a relationship, connection is nuanced.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/25 06:38 PM

Again, relationships are different than friendships, and humanity is nuanced, but you cannot see this. Also, you did not answer the first question.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/25 06:22 PM

Wrong, and you are very black and white in your thinking.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/25 06:00 PM

Does this apply to women too? Touch starvation is a huge thing. There are many types of bonds and love, and friendships are different than a loving relationship. You can still feel a longing for love when you have friends.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/25 05:25 PM

It's a highly over-used term, based off of subjective data from mainly self-reported studies, and has been disconnected from its original meaning and intent. There is nuance in a relationship, and a really good couples therapist will figure it out within the triadic relationship of what is perception and reality. A good example of this is the show Couples Therapy.

It does in the long run, masks eventually slip, and abhorrent views tend to come out.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/08/25 09:33 PM

I agree, yet it will lead to dissatisfaction down the road. ADHD is another example of this.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/08/25 08:35 PM

Ah, it's a group of grifters feeding off of vulnerable males looking for someone to validate their experiences and views, with many of them being losers in their own right.

No, I am not. Most men are not dead-beats.

Wat!? What a poor thought. It's not difficult being a single parent if you're willing to sacrifice. I am part-time, and full-time wouldn't create much of a change, it would actually make my life a little easier.

Nonverbal communication does, along with social cues, but they only give a little context or information. They cannot give you the why or what to what is going on.

Ah, yes you can, it's called cognitive restructuring.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/08/25 11:19 AM

Very different than a victimhood mentality; it's dismissive and is likely to reinforce their thinking.

A very good way to never change someone's mind or influence them is by invalidating their feelings, there are better ways to go about it.

Healthy love is conditional and says no too. Unless you are friends and have known someone for awhile, how you appear to someone gets you a date, and then if you're healthy, you say no as you get to know them and are not complementing each other.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/08/25 06:43 PM
1

Ah, this is a very unhealthy take. One based on attraction alone. The woman probably has low self-esteem. Same for men who overlook issues because she is "hot".
/r/PurplePillDebate11/08/25 04:27 PM
3

Ah, it's the double standards. I have witnessed many women "nag" a guy about clothes being left out only to do the same, and when the man brings it up, they tell him that's keeping score or not the same. You either live by the standards you hold others to, or you don't. Or you discuss it like adults.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/08/25 01:53 PM
6

If you are not feeling seen, heard, or understood, and have discussed this, leave. If you are giving effort and you have discussed this and she is not, leave. Too many people stay because of sunk cost and are afraid to be alone. Have self-respect.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/08/25 02:17 PM

High standards are great as long as they are consistent. If not, then you're settling or masking yourself for the other person.

/r/PurplePillDebate31/07/25 07:13 PM

Nice guys are just men who look to put on a front to get something from someone, not because they are genuinely themselves. Also, you do not need to accept friendship if you ask someone out and they say no; they owe you nothing, and you owe them nothing.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/07/25 07:19 PM
4

Ooo, they dislike the T-word around here...it's because they do not understand it. I wonder if many have theory of mind issues, they cannot read social cues?

Uncontrolled emotional vulnerability is not cool; I will not date a woman like that. Context, place, and time is what matters.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/07/25 01:43 PM

Wrong. Healthy people (both men and women) express vulnerability, emotions, thoughts, and ways of being during appropriate times, places, and circumstances.

You mean, unhealthy people of both sexes, without a rooted and stable identity change their standards and what they tolerate in others.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/07/25 06:40 PM

What makes you think it will go away and get smoothed over? Seems like it's going to get worse.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/07/25 02:30 PM

Just adds fuel to your fire...where there's smoke...You might as well deal with this now. Delaying it will only make it worse.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/07/25 02:23 PM

Because you have feelings for someone and will display the emotions involved with loss while dealing with lying, and hiding. He is already sensing something is off, so you are displaying certain emotions that are not normal in your relationship.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/07/25 02:18 PM

You'll get worse and hill pick up on it and ask more questions, especially if it ends. His Spidey senses are going off.

That's on you, not him. You're now tied up with a scumbag that only cares about himself. You allowed him to push whatever boundaries you may have had. By the looks of your posts, you cannot communicate what you want in your marriage, and so you looked elsewhere.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/07/25 02:36 PM

Yeah, it was probably unlikely that you would have sent him nudes too and engaged in this behavior. You're a coward.

It is there to help you learn and identify the emotions you are feeling so that you can become vulnerable in a health way, to make the waves smaller. And is there to affirm you as a person, but challenge perceptions and notions that may or may not be true.

Yep, victim mentality.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/06/25 05:52 PM

Eh, the post is illogical. Men do care about mental health as more men are utilizing the resource and discussing it. Though, the men here are doing them a disservice by arguing with you and negating therapy as a tool in this sub.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/06/25 05:40 PM

Heh, look at all the defensiveness and resistance around the topic of therapy in this thread. I think many people here just want their world views affirmed and are incapable of challenging themselves.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/06/25 05:20 PM

Eh, many of the studies surrounding the mental and emotional load/labor are self-reported and that brings up bias and validity problems, and lack nuance surrounding these theoretical frameworks. The issue around psych and studies is many of the journalists do not understand how to read and interpret results and what the methods actually mean.

How about this, many people of both sexes settle. Do not settle. I was one, and thank God she left me for an absolute dud. I know many men who are in crappy relationships with women that are absolutely horrible, and not the right fit.

Eh, schools were developed around the factory model, and not many men attended college prior to WWII; it changed with the GI Bill after WWII. What we are seeing today is a round peg trying to be fit into a square hole. Many jobs that did not require a degree in the past now require one, you learned on the job in a semi apprenticeship model, and way back, many jobs only required two years of education or certificates of education. There are also biases built in as most teachers are women. I think…

I think this is the wrong take. There are some people (men and women) that are self-actualized, self-aware, and mentally healthy. There are many relationships and people who are dating that are not healthy; they have settled. Of the people who feel self-actualized, how many have done the work to become self-aware enough to realize they can only control themselves and their choices, that they can self-sooth and validate, and be open and vulnerable enough to express how and what they are feeling i…

I will beat this dead horse, but therapy. It helps to process trauma, aid in working through an existential crisis, and assists in reframing negative thought patterns and cognitions. There is also managing expectations; not everyone is a super model, not everyone is rich, not everyone is charismatic and charming, and some things can be worked on and change over time. I know my value and worth, and how other may view me, and so I date at that level, and I have accepted that I may never find a sui…
/r/PurplePillDebate22/05/25 11:28 AM

I really don't understand the makeup argument, that is her choice. And I pay for dates as I know the women I have dated make less than I do.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/05/25 02:25 PM
1

Treat others with respect and have the same expectations of others. If they don't, move on. I have only had one instance where a woman I dated and had fun with tried the let's be friends, and I said no. Drives her nuts to this day that I will not accept this, that is on her.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/05/25 06:41 PM

A PsyD with degree from a diploma mill that cherry-picks data and takes it out of context is not someone I would trust, but hey, if you need someone to confirm your biases and worldviews, go right ahead and watch.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/05/25 06:31 PM

I think this cuts both ways. Stats are stable (OLD is only part of dating). How many men on here complain that women date men just like this...criminals, abusers, deadbeats? People with low esteem, and that are not aware of themselves and what they want, will date and accept poor behaviors.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/05/25 12:42 PM

It's intermittent reinforcement, not the friend zone, and both men and women experience. It's the same concept as gambling; you get short hits of brain chemicals rewarding the behavior. Many people lack the esteem and awareness to realize they have agency and choice to move on or feel they have sunk cost in this. It is also possible to have manipulation on both ends; this shows up in the forms of people pleasing, validation, and seeing others as objects, not as a person. The best thing you can d…

I have a Selleck stache and the women love it-they also like bald men.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/05/25 03:53 PM

Not true, there are many duds getting into relationships with each other. Fat, lazy, emotionally unavailable, those with addictions, disordered and a those with a whole other host of negative traits are finding ways to get into a relationship. Many settle to avoid feelings loneliness, so you could to if you wanted to.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/05/25 01:57 PM

You don't show yourself; I am not interested.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/25 07:03 PM

Correction, that they are insecure and jealous, which may not be the case. They may have boundaries or dealbreakers.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/25 02:48 PM

You assumed. It's better to validate someone's experience and then ask open-ended questions. She assumed therapy is there for men to loosen their boundaries of what they find acceptable; it is not. You are correct that people can have deal breakers or boundaries as to what they find suitable. Your analogy is poor; there are many men who would date her and you're transferring your experiences and thoughts onto her. She is experiencing consequences of her choices, that is something for her to look…

Nuance is needed. Approx. 60% of men who commit suicide sought out mental health prior to the act. Depression and other symptoms are less likely to get diagnosed in men who seek treatment as it presents differently such as using substance and anger to cope. 76% of MH clinicians are women and it has been shown there is a negative bias against men within the field, and men are less likely to be referred to MHC by other clinicians in the medical field. Men respond well to concrete methods of treatm…

You either accept where you are at in life or self-reflect and build self-awareness and move on from there. You may have standards, yet those standards may be self-defeating and irrational to who and what you are. Many people are not really self-aware and operate on autopilot mode because temporary pleasure is better than facing the pain of understanding and fixing their way of being, or they don't have the money or time to explore this on a deep level. At the same time, men are undertreated for disorders but commit suicide at a higher rate. Though women attempt more, men use very lethal means. Also, disorders present differently between the sexes. There is a lot of issues within society as a whole.

You do not have to be a "bad boy". Being good and assertive, playful, flirty, and fun is what attracts others to you, you know, confident. Disordered people believe the bad boy stuff, and frankly, you will attract other disordered people being bad, or detached and aloof; water seeks its own level

They judge both women and men: Peter Pan Syndrome, Crazy Cat Lady. Also, men who are single past a certain point are looked at as creeps and weirdos, or failures. Also, men who are single are asked if they are partnered or have a significant other a lot or if they are dating, ask me how I know. And men are asked and told to settle too, again, ask me how I know.

Not struggling here, glad she left. Sometimes deadweight gets rid of itself. Dating has been fun, but I am not lowering my standards to be in a relationship.

Way, way better. In control of my own life and she's, someone else's problem. Dating is fun when I choose to do it, I'm in grad school, and I work on my own house.
