50/50 dads.Like others have said 2 weeks is a long stretch. I have my kids Wednesday thru Friday with alternating saturdays. Like you, when I have my kids I let the place fall to pieces. I really only focus on showering and dishes. Once they are at my Ex’s I do a big clean and the place is spotless. Is your schedule set in stone or do you think your ex would be open to modifying it? Some tricks I’ve learned is a got a robot vacuum and I task the kids with cleaning up all their toys before the vacuum gets t… | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/07/26 04:18 PM
The quietI’ve made my posts about this before too and I’ve read others post about it. What I’ve picked up from others is playing the kids tv shows while they are away. Then I get some positive upbeat music and I start tackling cleaning the entire place, meal prepping and going to the gym. I’m trying to reframe the time they are away as the time I can recuperate and focus on myself so that I can be the best dad I can be while they are with me. But I hear you. It’s like a dead silence the moment when they … | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/02/26 01:21 PM
How can I support my friend through his divorce? That sounds like the beginning of my divorce. Mentally abusive spouse. Refused to go to mediation so I had to file. I had my two brothers and my best friend. The most help I got from them was when they would reassure me that things I was asking for were reasonable. For example, several months into our divorce, my ex wanted to have her parents and sister and their family with all their kids sleep over. I said they could come over but not spend the night, which she tried to paint me as the bad guy… | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/01/26 02:02 AM
Ex wife invited me to Christmas day activities.I think this is a good situation to self reflect and put your needs up high on the list. If you think you will enjoy the situation and come out happier, go for it. If you think there is the potential for you to come out feeling angry/upset, or just emotionally negative from this, then pass. Your kids needs matter a lot, but not when it’s at the detriment of your emotional peace. Your kids don’t get any benefit from a dad that is present but not emotionally happy. | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/12/25 02:17 PM
Dad's with children toddler and younger do you have these thoughts at times?Thank you so much for this. I have a 2 yr old and 4 yr old and am navigating this as well. This was incredibly helpful and comforting at the same time. | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/11/25 04:14 PM
I made it to the other side. Here's how it went.Pretty low odds of getting full custody. I had strong odds to get 50/50 if it went to trial but it wasn't guaranteed. My state is not a guaranteed 50/50 custody state. 50k went to my attorney, 9k went to an accountant expert witness to track my premarital retirement growth. I think I spent about 10k on mediation between my lawyer and my portion to the mediation lawyer. Then another 10k on discovery. When I filed and then did the rebuttal it was about 2500. The remaining 30k was literally just ba… | /r/Divorce_Men | 01/11/25 06:19 PM
I made it to the other side. Here's how it went.Daughter is 4 and son is 2. So far so good. They act great with me because I've always been the more present one. My daughter is definitely a daddy's girl. I think my daughter misses us living together just so she could have access to both of us, but she was 2 when we stopped being a romantic couple so she doesn't remember us being a real loving family. | /r/Divorce_Men | 01/11/25 03:53 PM

For those of you with verbally abusive and controlling wives, how did you feel after divorce. We officially divorced 3 weeks ago. I have a lot of financial rebuilding to do but I don't mind it. It's incredibly relieving not living with my narcissistic abusive ex. It's been a long time since I woke up happy and excited for the day, and I can tell you I started to feel this way again the moment I stopped cohabitating with my ex. | /r/Divorce_Men | 01/11/25 02:27 AM
Mediation Challenges - Splitting The BillLawyer is on standby. I'm aware that if she has no incentive to mediate quickly, she'll just spend all my money. I'm more curious if anyone has found a solution to this to keep both parties in check. | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/09/24 07:40 PM
You're going to be just fineA mantra that's been helping me a lot is "I can handle this". For some reason the word fine to me just means I'm hiding depression. | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/08/24 01:13 PM
FinalizedThis really hits hard for me. My marriage ended 16 months ago when I decided to stop putting up with the silent treatment and emotional abuse. Despite that, we went to 4 different marriage counselors where it should have been clear to me she wasn't there to self reflect. She was there to attack. The final marriage counselor she manipulated, and actually had the therapist verbally attack me. Its weird thinking back to the good times when she was my best friend, the only one I could imagine spendi… | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/08/24 02:17 AM
