| -1 | Super depressed about moneyYeah, same. I was the only one who even had goals much less worked towards them. My divorce freaked me out, felt very unfair. Courts assume there is 50/50 effort in marriage. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH. Hopefully this antiquated BS dies its overdue death. But for now, it's worse than ever. The pendulum has swept too far, overcorrected, and is just barely showing signs of slowing. Sadly, I don't think it'll swing back enough for all the married men today to get an averagely decent settlement. As with all th… | /r/Divorce_Men | 31/03/25 03:13 PM |
In 50/50 states.. is there a separated date based on "we havent been in same room for a year"California The definition is wobbly as hell. But bare minimum, a spouse has to say they want a divorce and not back down until filing. Agreement isn't necessary. My guess is that she'll get 50% of the past year. But talk to a lawyer. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/03/25 08:29 PM
Has anyone been on the r/Divorce subreddit? I feel like it’s run by women and is 90% posts from women talking about how much they hate being married and want a divorce. In fairness, almost all reddit subs are over-moderated. The moderation model is broken. It's a bunch of vanity fiefdoms. divorce_men is a rarity. I've never had a post removed from this sub. The same post wouldn't make it to divorce. | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/03/25 09:15 PM
Lawyer feesPlan ahead financially. Plan for the worst. I think this is the one single biggest mistake most make in divorce. I def made this mistake. It should be pinned in the sub IMO. It affects everything from car and home buying to renting, all common things that come up in divorce. Divorce locked up all my assets. So lawyer fees went on cards. My credit score plummeted. FICO really emphasizes increases to percent debt used. Not percent debt used. Increases! I jumped from 0$ revolving to $20,000. My tot… | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/03/25 10:37 PM
Am I doing online dating wrong? It became popular. Paradox of choice is a thing. All it takes is for a girl to get 10 likes. And statistically speaking, one of those ten will look more inviting than you. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/03/25 08:46 PM
Anyone here who has been divorced for 3+ years, haven’t been in a serious or even casual relationship since, and still feel miserable?Dating is miserable. There is so much baggage out there. And I think, you know, without trying to be misogynistic but still recognizing the social structures, that women like to feel desired but don't actually want a relationship. They seem to be chasing validation, the hunt, and the turn down. I just spent $80 on a brewery and a meal Sunday. And the girl looked upset, threw sunglasses on, ate fine but turned me down less than a day later. WTF is that? I mean, at least smile. So, it's the last t… | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/03/25 04:59 PM
