I could be wrong, but I don’t think pulling back is the move. If he’s feeling disconnected, pulling back will just exacerbate this feeling

FWIW, being interested in having sex with her and being interested are not necessarily mutually exclusive

Just ask him what, specifically, changed?

It’s not fair to project your old relationship issues onto him. You’re also going to have to do some planning in any relationship…I don’t think you should let your resentment towards your ex cause you to make super strict rules, etc.

Are you unsure of whether he’s invested in the relationship in general? Or, if he wants a more traditional relationship? You could tell him that you really like when he takes the lead, but that you’re willing to take plan dates while he’s especially busy and stressed at work. I think you’ll go through periods like this with any partner who has an intense job. Life happens, etc. I wouldn’t view filling the void while he’s unusually as a permanent change in your dynamic

What was your goal in saying this? Or did you just snap and it came out inadvertently

Is she paying for the wedding or is he due to inherit her money? Those would be 2 decent reasons for appeasing her

P.s. Just for future reference if a man ever tells you the specific type of porn he watches, he’s telling you what he’s into in bed haha

Can’t say for sure whether or not he’s still watching porn, but he’s clearly into rougher sex. There’s tons of porn out there and kidnapping isn’t the first result you get when you go looking for porn. You have to search for it specifically. I’m not judging him as someone into bdsm but just letting you know he’s def into that, so leaving not making you cum aside, if you’re not into having your hair pulled, throwing you into diff positions, etc. you’re probs not sexually compatible

I think it’s on both partners. If he saying he needs something, he’s selecting for it. I think at that point it’s on you to decide whether or not it’s dealbreaker for you. I don’t think there’s anything inherently wrong with trying to convince someone to try something. If it’s a hard no, then say that explicitly. It’s a tough situation bc there’s not a simple answer to when you should tell the person about your kink, etc.

I would tell him that you’re seriously thinking about leaving as it may be the wake up call he needs. I also think it’s a little shitty to hang around and not tell him that you plan on leaving.

And also not wasting the other persons time! Respect not only for yourself, but for the other person

Imo, “Having to have it” doesn’t make you a sex addict fwiw. I agree that mismatched libidos and kinks will cause resentment though, which leads to relationship issues. BUT there’s nothing inherently wrong with needing to engage in particular kinks or a certain amount of sex; it doesn’t make anyone a sex addict. I would ask myself if I’m going to be unhappy with my sex life if it’s kinkier than I want. If so, i would have an honest conversation about what he wants. Is it a need to have? Or, nice…

I feel like this is not the most fair framing. There’s an emotional and bonding aspect to sex for men. Unwanted abstinence isn’t great for anyone’s mental health. Nothing wrong with being abstinent, but insisting on it when the other person doesn’t want to isn’t any different than insisting on sex when your partner wants to abstinent in terms understanding and respecting the other person

I’m not sure it’s even a matter of whether he proposes…you just don’t seem happy, which I think should supersede your fear of being single. The other issue I see is that he seems to treat your relationship very transactionally, which isn’t great… I think the question you need to ask yourself is if you’re okay with him not being able to pick you up coffee, etc. or saying you need to pay more rent bc you didn’t do enough housework one week. Like if that’s your future, would you rather do that or b…

Honestly, just give him a heads up about your mouth being small and it being your first time. I’m sure he’ll appreciate the enthusiasm and effort! Also makes it easier to work through the logistical issues if he knows you’re not biting him on purpose One thing to try would be getting him hard via a blowjob. Probs easier to get his dick in your mouth initially if he’s soft

It’s hard to say but is def sketch. Just ask him about it directly and say the juxtaposition is bothering you

He isn’t kind or caring. He’s a narcissist if he thinks so. The fundamental issue here is that he values his ego more than he’ll ever value you. That’s not how loving relationships work

I think they’re intertwined. You can tell a lotttt about a person from how they treat animals. Mistreating a dog is a big red flag!

It’s normal for a dog to lick and sniff. It’s literally innate to their behavior. It’s how the they experience the world. Crazy to say the dog shouldn’t be allowed sniff or lick hands. Smell is by far and away the a dogs best sense. He knows nothing about dogs. It doesn’t make them more likely to bite in the slightest but hitting them or flicking them on the nose can!

Go on the date! I would just view it as an opportunity to see if you’d want to spend the rest of your life with him or hell, even a second date with him. Imo if you want masculine energy, you need to allow room for it. all the questions, give off the vibe of “everything must be done exactly my way or the highway”, which impedes that

I’m not as good with Reddit so don’t know how to respond to specific parts as beautifully as you did. I fully agree that it’s best to try to get a general sense but I’d be looking more for intention. The caveat is always “with the right person”. So I also think you need to give the guy enough time to visualize being married to you. If you ask that question, he’s going to think about be married to you. If he doesn’t know you that well, then there won’t be much conviction behind his answer. Like y…

Agreed with this. I’m a guy so hope that I’m not overstepping but I think being “grilled” is a bit of a turn off. You can tell when someone is trying to see if you “check” their predefined boxes to which I’m not privy. This makes it feel a bit like a police interrogation and at times like I’m supposed to give the “correct” answer without knowing what that is. It doesn’t help me figure out if I enjoy natural conversations with them nor does it feel like they’re trying to get to actually know me. …

I’d be less concerned about him thinking you’re not pure or whatever esp if he doesn’t bring it up often. He clearly doesn’t actually think that if he’s with you and it’s not a regular topic. I would be more concerned about this philosophy having a negative effect on children. I’d bring it up again but in the context of we’re not going to tell our kids this. It’s not healthy to shame their sexual desires

He can be a present father during the evening, in general, etc. but I think it’s more the reasonable to expect her to be primarily responsible for raising the young children. I agree that it’s important important to clearly discuss expectations though. Ex. Once my fiancée and I are married, she has the green light to quit her job day 1 but there will be no hiring or help if she’s a SAHM

I’m a male and I’ve hooked up with someone of my good friends who were girls despite not wanting to date them. With FWB situations, you can look past certain things that would be a dealbreaker for a “real” relationship. Ex. We both have more dominant personalities or someone is too independent, etc. If I had a guess, he’s not saying anything bc saying something causes more issues than staying silent or bc group hangouts peter out and just the two of them are left

This isn’t how this works. If you fill out the withholding form correctly, you enter your spouses income. You also don’t have to have your employer withhold federal taxes. You could just make estimated tax payments once a quarter. How much tax you owe is independent of how much money your employer withholds—that’s solely dependent on how your fill out your withholding forms

Just so you know my bias—personally, I wouldn’t propose to anyone before living with them first. Living with someone is sooo different than dating someone…lots of little things that you didnt know about can be dealbreakers. When there are disagreements about living spaces, it the end decision defaults to the persons whose place it is. I’d argue that moving in with someone is a big, serious commitment. One thing to keep in mind is that if he does budge, there’s a decent chance he’s going to want …

do you tell them this? If so, when? Are you waiting until marriage?
