Who Should Leave the HouseDon’t leave. You have a good plan. She can leave but you may have to pay her temporary alimony if she does … in NJ that’s what you have to do | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/09/22 08:09 AM
Can't Take the PlungeThank you for this great response … I apologize for the delay, I was taking down time away from Reddit .. again we have so many similarities … our two biggest issues (lack of serious intimacy, started in year 1 by the way) and secondly … the dispiljne/co parenting was terrible as well, we were almost never on the same page and my wife similarly would explode, hand down huge penalties for what I considered smaller/typical teenager type issues … and she never followed through. She kicked out my te… | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/09/22 06:12 AM
Can't Take the PlungeYeah same here. It’s been a year since empty nest and I shoukd have pulled the trigger. Finally working my way to it think though. I don’t want to cross the 25 year threshold so something has to give asap | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/09/22 09:16 AM
ironing out final custody agreement... need inputIn NJ if they are in college, child support continues Until they graduate college … but it’s reduced (college fees represent 9 months out of the year) | /r/Divorce_Men | 07/09/22 02:24 PM
Can't overcome the resentmentWhat ? 500k. You must make a crap ton and wanted to fight for a severely reduced alimony if I am guessing What state do you live in? What’s your alimony payments? | /r/Divorce_Men | 07/09/22 02:17 PM
Can't Take the PlungeGo for it if you can. I am a little younger (48) , married 24 years and feel the same. I am nkt retired and will be paying a hefty alimony for a long time which is making me hesitate but I want out, I want to explore a new life as well. We married young and have grown apart. Both our fault as well. It happens. She isn’t a terrible person, just not in love with her anymore. Good luck to you. I hope no get the same courage to get out soon | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/09/22 04:26 PM
What surprise financial aspects of divorce did you figure out when it was too late?Wow. That is a crazy story. Yeah if it was 1/3, or in my case 8 year’s. I would gladly pay. Makes no sense. Why she can’t make adjusts to her standard of living on 8 years ? Courts are rigged against people like me and your friend | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/08/22 06:53 PM

What surprise financial aspects of divorce did you figure out when it was too late?Yeah my understanding is if those bad thing happen to me, I can ask the courts for a reduction … of course you have to be down for a log period of time . I am against alimony as well but the courts say I have to cause for 24 years I gave her this quality of life. I work overtime, I work a second job I get bonuses. She is a school librarian which is fine but why do I have to support her another 20 years ? She sits at the beach all summer while I am working my second job or overtime and busting my… | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/08/22 04:59 PM
What surprise financial aspects of divorce did you figure out when it was too late? How did you get $500k? You mean if I invested the $4k per month for 20 years at an 8% return it comes out to $500k? Cause $4k per month is $48k per year times 20 is $960k Just making sure we are talking about the same thing Thanks for your time by the way. I really appreciate it | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/08/22 04:55 PM
What surprise financial aspects of divorce did you figure out when it was too late?I like the idea. Just a ton of money. Approximately $900k in alimony. I have good assets but I Don’t have that many …. but I like the concept | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/08/22 04:17 PM
What surprise financial aspects of divorce did you figure out when it was too late?Wow. Very Interesting. I love it. Yes I definitely do. I’ll reach out. Thanks!! | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/08/22 02:16 PM
What surprise financial aspects of divorce did you figure out when it was too late?Yeah thought if that but I really like my job and it has good growth potential to pay for the alimony y. Just stinks that I would even have to consider that, switching to a lower paying job for 2 years prior to filing. Something is definitely wrong with the system if they is even on the table | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/08/22 03:13 AM
What surprise financial aspects of divorce did you figure out when it was too late?Did you divorce in New Jersey? Sounds it … yeah getting Thst number tj 20% is a huge difference for me indeed. I think the longer you are married the higher the number, I am at almost 25 years hence why lawyers have told me 25% is the number but I will definitely try to get that down. Looks like you were married 10? If you are laying 19 of alimony You say you won cause you “showed the entire budget calculation “. What does thst Exactly mean if you don’t mind me asking Thanks | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/08/22 03:10 AM
What surprise financial aspects of divorce did you figure out when it was too late?Yeah. Almost 25 years … I was saying paying $50k after taxes is essential like about $85k of my gross. A big number. Sucks | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/08/22 03:05 AM
What surprise financial aspects of divorce did you figure out when it was too late? She works. School librarian. I work and do well. Difference in salary is $200/year. So I have to pay her 25% (after taxes) so it’s $50k/ year after taxes. Equivalent to like $85k before taxes It’s borderline criminal in my opinion. I don’t mind paying. I get it. But That much for 20 years? Unfair She could make more if she wanted. | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/08/22 08:39 PM
What surprise financial aspects of divorce did you figure out when it was too late?Yeah hoping to do mediation I “think” it will be somewhat amicable …. Plus she definitely won’t go destitute … we have ~$500k in equity in the house, $400k in retirement … both to be split of course (I hope it’s 50/50) and I will be paying big time alimony, at least $4k per month for 20 years My wife could stop working when ever she wants after this | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/08/22 05:52 PM
